nice pick. Even Alabama said it was the most romantic thing ever.

Just to clarify, if a scene or actor from a film is taken, nothing else from that film can be taken
The Rule is murder for Taxi Driver. Could have gone in a whole lot of categories.
was going to be my ny movie and then I would be :winning: now :kicksrock:
This was our debate last night. New York, Monologue, Shootout, Child Actor. But my brilliant partner (no homo) thought it might slide, but the Phoebe Cates Dream Sequence wouldn't.Great call, Norwood.

Yeah, this is the movie I had in mind when I clarified the rule earlier. Had it in all these categories.

I just got out of a meeting and have to pee. Will figure out my pick in the bathroom and brb.

Since there seems to be a lull here, let me clarify my New York judging criteria, especially since several films are now off the board in other categories that I can use as examples

I;m not going to come up with a formula of some kind, but the following criteria will be considered:

1. It doesn't have to be ONLY the 5 boroughs, but I will say that there will be a NYC bias (including immediate surrounding commutable areas)...

2. NYC should almost be a character in the movie, in the sense that this is a NY story (i.e. could it have taken place somewhere else without altering it too much?)

2a. Memorable NY landmarks and/or references a plus

3. Quality of the film obviously comes into play, but #2 >> #3

There could be a film that I consider to be a truly superior film, but would be a middling NY movie pick in my book as it could easily be imagined taking place in another city without affecting it too much

Any specific film questions can be sent via PM

TU, you've inspired me. I enjoy judging more than drafting based on my plethora of experience in exactly one previous timdraft, so I will judge a third category too. Someone let me know if they already claimed this one. If not:

tim, please put me in as the judge for Courtroom Scenes. Thanks.

3.19 - Leslie Nielsen - Airplane - Dramatic actor in a comedy role

spent the first half of his career as a dramatic / character actor. Then Airplane changed everything for him.

I came thisclose to taking Leslie. I am serious, and don't call me shirley.

3.18 All That Jazz dream sequence

I'm pretty sure you all know the one, but I suspect it's too long to have just one link.
i dont
This refers to the movie starring Roy Scheider as Joe Gideon, a stand-in for Bob Fosse. Gideon has heart issues while trying to stage a broadway show.

The backers for the show must decide now whether it's time to pack up or replace Gideon as the director. Their matter-of-fact money-oriented negotiations with the insurers are juxtaposed with graphic scenes of (presumably Joe's) open heart surgery. The producers realize that the best way to recoup their money and make a profit, is to bet on Gideon dying — which would bring in a profit of over USD$500,000. Meanwhile, elements from Gideon's past life are staged in dazzling dream sequences of musical numbers he directs from his hospital bed while on life support.
The problem with searching YouTube is that I get a lot of videos of the song, which isn't even from this movie.

This worked before so I'll try it again: I have now decided on my next pick, so I would very much appreciate if none of you would take it. TIA.

Thought about him ... was wondering whether or not the judge would ding Nielsen for doing so much comedy afterwards
