I could probably wait on this one and draft it later, but I'll grab it now anyway. I love this movie and it really fits the criteria laid out by TU:
4.06 - The Taking of Pelham One Two Three - New York
The original with Walter Matthau and Robert Shaw nit the Denzel/Travolta remake.
I'll add some links tomorrow morning.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNGagEjsdVMThe Taking of Pelham One Two Three, also known as The Taking of Pelham 123, is a 1974 American thriller film directed by Joseph Sargent, produced by Edgar J. Scherick, and starring Walter Matthau, Robert Shaw, Martin Balsam, and Héctor Elizondo. Peter Stone adapted the screenplay, from the novel of the same name by Morton Freedgood (under the pen name John Godey) about a group of criminals taking hostage for ransom the passengers of a busy New York City subway car.
It was remade in 1998 as a TV film and was again remade in 2009 as a film.
In New York City, four heavily armed men with code names (Mr. Blue, Mr. Green, Mr. Grey, and Mr. Brown), wearing similar trenchcoat and mustache disguises, board at different station stops (Green at 59th Street, Grey at 51st Street, Brown at Grand Central, and finally Blue at 28th Street) on the Pelham 123 subway train run of the 6 Lexington Avenue Local service. The men take the train, securing a group of seventeen passengers whom they hold hostage, isolating them in one of the train's cars and then separating the car from the rest of the train.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Zachary Garber (Walter Matthau), a cynical and curmudgeonly yet light-hearted New York City Transit Authority police lieutenant, begins his day by leading four visiting Tokyo Metro directors on a tour of New York's subway command-center. This is interrupted by Blue's radio announcement to the command center that "your train has been taken." Blue (Robert Shaw), the English-accented leader of the hijackers, tells Garber they are demanding a ransom of one million dollars, to be delivered to them within one hour; otherwise they will kill one passenger per minute, starting when the hour has passed.
Great pick.Probably the best representation of how the dehumanization process of boot camp turns normal people into trained killers.
The blanket party @ 6:56? Happens all the time.

She did plenty before she got locked up. Running around in places like Nicaragua and ####.Also gotta ask - how good of a parent was Ms. Conner? Got herself locked up, wasn't around for her kid... Sure, she might be handy in a fight, but that kid's life kinda sucked.
Here is aThis feels like getting caught at the end of a run, but
4.12 "Greed is good" Wallstreet - Monologue.
Dude. Once Dr. Strangelove was taken, the only other thing I could come up with was "that one where Jeremy Irons plays murderous twin gynecologists". Had to look it up to get the name, but this was a great movie and a great performance and a great pick.Morning everyone. A few days ago I complained about the multiple roles category, and I've wondered ever since what I was going to do about it. My plan was, honestly, to punt until one of the last rounds and then select something cheesy- since nearly everything is cheesy I had as good a chance as anyone else.
Then- around 3 pm yesterday it hit me that there was a pick I hadn't considered, from a film I hadn't thought about in several years, and rather than being cheesy, it was a serious, superb acting job. So I am grabbing it up while the grabbing's good:
Jeremy Irons in Dead Ringers- multiple performances
Don't know how many of you have seen this film- it was directed by David Cronenberg and came out in the late 80s. It was one of the creepiest films I think I have ever seen. Jeremy Irons stars as identical twin brothers who are gynecologists- the confident one, Elliot, seduces women and then hands them over to the weak one, Beverly, except that they don't tell the woman involved. Then Beverly starts to have strange visions of mutated women who will require scary looking gynecological instruments- and it gets weirder from there. What I remember is that it's an incredible acting job by Irons.
Here is a clip from early in the film:
Still not the the best parenting skills. Just sayin' - wouldn't want her as my mom.She was in jail because they thought she was nuts. Not her fault. She was trying to warn them.
