Tim's FFL Year 4- Out of the playoffs again. This league sucks. (1 Viewer)

things tim posted in the FFA today instead of

"Bender, you're up."

72. Stephen King

Monsters are real, and ghosts are real, too. They live inside us, and sometimes, they win.

Stephen King was America's most prolific and dominant novelist during the second half of the 20th century, and arguably of all time. But in placing him on this list I go beyond the success of his novels, because he is also one of the greatest creators of culture in the American experience. Virtually everybody knows at least one of his stories or more, having read them or seen them in movies and television. Because King, like Poe and Lovecraft before him, chose to focus primarily on horror and the supernatural, he has created worlds of imagination that other writers don't involve themselves in. King is Walt Disney for adults.

I mentioned earlier that this list would be a combination of those most influential to American society, along with truly great Americans, and that as we moved forward up the list we would run into a combination of the two. But there are exceptions to these designations, and King might be one of them. He is neither incredibly influential (if anything, most of his work is derivative), nor can he be called truly great, in the way that Jim Thorpe was (arguably) our greatest athlete. King is certainly not our greatest novelist.

Yet I firmly believe that he belongs because he has contributed so much enjoyment to our society. I will now provide examples. Here is my list of the 20 best Stephen King novels:

1. The Stand (1989 version)

2. It

3. Firestarter

4. The Dead Zone

5. The Shining

6. Carrie

7. Cujo

8. Misery

9. The Drawing of the Three (The Dark Tower Vol. 2)

10. Christine

11. Gerald's Game

12. Pet Sematary

13. Thinner (as Richard Bachmann)

14. The Running Man (as Richard Bachmann)

15. Desperation

16. Rose Madder

17. The Tommyknockers

18. Under the Dome

19. The Long Walk (as Richard Bachmann)

20. 11/22/63

You can argue with this list, but if you do, you're wrong.

Up next: Kentucky's greatest statesman...
Damn, Tim really does post about a lot of crap.

Everyone here at some bar in Durham is suspicious of the attractive yet portly Texan, staring and typing into his phone and wipeling tears away as he laughs out loud.

Bummer. Hate to see this happen.

Everyone made their first round pick, so it's not like anyone didn't realize the draft had started.

I fell bad for ya Bender, but this is the way things have gone the last 3 years. Someone always times out in the early rounds, and the later rounds are even worse. It sucks, but it's not Tim's fault or anyone else's. You wanna "go home" cause we didn't break the rules for you; what about Bonzai or whoever else it was that also missed a couple of picks already? We'd have had to shut down the draft every time someone couldn't make their pick on time, and wait till they were ready.
Seems like we just need some rules established for the new blood at least for these online message board drafts. Haven't done fantasy in years. Hardly even know what's going on. But I get a PM in the "Classic Rock songs from 1972" draft like clockwork, but can't even get a courtesy note after the 2nd time I get skipped through in a $100 league. And yes, it stings more that the very guy picking in front of me (who would usually send the note) is:A. the commish - who might have some interest in keeping new guys engaged, informed, up to date via a PM before going in dry on them.

B. posted more today than any other person on FBGs but doesn't have the time to send a 2 word note to me

C. also made up the rule as the sole arbiter that ####ed my comeback pick and cost me losing my next selection

this isn't skipped in the traditional sense because someone was just an idiot and forgot to keep up. This is a confluence of 3 different things that is pretty much the biggest injustice we've seen since someone called MOP at work.
Sorry man. it really has been a fun league. We lost all the pot last year in the Unlucky bankruptcy/scam, but must everyone is back.Sorry you feel like you got hosed, but no one many any ill will. I'll vouch for it, whatever that is worth.

The rule is you get passed if the clock runs out and you makeup any missed picks as soon as you can post, regardless of who's on the clock. The "unwritten rule" over the last 3 seasons is that we adhere to that rule without exception. Like I said, it happens to someone every year.
He didn't even get his hour the second time you guys skipped him. That's just stupid.
After he got skipped on the 3rd, and the next pick was made, he could have made any pick at any time to backfill that 3rd round pick. Everyone else may be making their 4th pick, but we're still waiting on his 3rd, like I said, he could have made at any time after the clock expired, save the player was still on the board. So if I follow you, if a team falls off the map and doesn't make, say 3 picks in a row, we should keep waiting an hour each time their theoretical pick on said round would be after their initial pick times out? That's why we have the "can make any and all missed picks as soon as they can be posted to the thread.

I swear to god flap and I will hunt you down pulp fiction style and carve out your ####### soul if you take our guy

Bell / Murray

Edelman / Sanders / Agholor

Will take that start all day in 16T PPR with weak ### QB scoring (4Pt TD)

Night fellas.... Gllll

Ok pretty sure they are both here from what I pieced together-

4.16 Carlos Hyde

5.01 Jonathan Stewart
Would you have taken Murray had we not?
Yep it was between Murray and Stewart after I took Hyde. I was honestly surprised they were all still hanging around and had to piece my way through the Bender crime scene in the last few pages a few times to make sure.
