THE NEWS

Tony Romo had his shoulder heavily wrapped after Sunday night's game. He said he sustained a rotator cuff injury early in the contest, though it didn't stop him from completing the game, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View

Although Romo said it wouldn't keep him from facing the Vikings next weekend, you'll want to keep an eye on him this week to make sure he doesn't aggravate the injury in practice.

I recently had a partially torn rotator cuff. It hurts like hell, and makes throwing very painful. This can't be good.

It's not clear from the reports I've seen whether or not there is a partial tear or a bruise or a strain -- just that it's an injury. Clearly it's better to have this on the left side for a right-handed thrower, but it's not a total non-issue, either, although unless it's serious, it's most likely a pain management issue. Still, longer throws and out-of-pocket twisting throws may still be affected.

I assume he will play this week, and then he has a bye week to get some extra rest. As long as it doesn't somehow get aggravated this week, I'd assume this will be a non-issue.

From what I understand it's a strain, Romo doesn't believe it's serious, and it happened early in the Patriots game.

Wonder if that will mean a heavier dose of Witten?!! :coffee:

I'd like to know how it could get any heavier. The guy is averaging 8 targets a game.

FWIW, the Cowboys trainer was pretty adamant on not calling it a rotator cuff injury but instead would just call it a "shoulder strain."

We'll see here soon.
