TOP GUN (1 Viewer)

One of my earliest memories was seeing my Dad tear up when Goose died.  Dad passed in 2018.  OG Top Gun has always had a special place in my soul.

I was a blubbering mess through this whole movie.

As far as true sequels go, this is by far, my favorite.

it’s all about the sound, go to the xd at bella terrace or something similar. digital cinema usually has the regular speakers

Yeah, gonna pay the extra for XD at Bella Terra.  Going tomorrow.  Pumped.

Edit:  Looks like today is the last day for XD for Top Gun at these theatres.  Lame.

Stupid Jurassic movie is taking their spots. It’s supposed to be so bad, Maverick might push them back out.

Yup that's exactly what's happening.  Guess I waited too long.  I am going to see it in regular ol digital tomorrow.

T-18 minutes until my Top Gun Imax experience.

Will report back in 2.5 hours

What a movie!

Loved it from beginning to end

Plus, my allergies were at maximum overdrive

Just one question:  why couldn't they just use drones?

Kidding, kinda

Every time I visit this thread @Ghost Rider is lurking in the Recently Browsing area.  I'm starting to think it's very dedicated shtick.

Pattern is full Ghost Rider.  You happy?!?!

Man you guys way oversold this. It was pretty good, not great.

Also, Christ, Ed Harris looks bad! Which is bad news for all of us because Ed Harris used to be a good looking dude.

I don't think it was great in the "all-time" sense of the word.  More like great in that it was way better than most sequel/summer blockbusters than I can think of in the last decade - mostly because of the practical effects and how it looked and sounded.   Gimme this over SW sequels and superheroes chasing after glowing thingies every day.

All time great in terms of these summer blockbusters. Not quite OG Jurassic Park but better than The Rock, Men In Black, etc.

For my tastes, I wouldn't put it in the alltime rank for summer blockbusters either.  You bring up JP, but there's always Jaws and several others.   Of course for me, Back to the Future.

Way better than the standard crop of modern summer fare and sequel/reboots though.

Ironically, I just saw this last night...haha!

Highly enjoyable. Despite a few flaws (not a great last 15 minutes, the Penny character was pretty pointless), it was very good.  A worthy sequel.  And the shirtless beach football had us

I think part of all the love is that it’s the first movie really worthy of going to see in the theater again in the past 2+ years since Covid.  Added level of excitement for that experience again

This guy doesn't think much of Tom Cruise as a fighter pilot.   https://statesidealternatives.com/news/korean-war-pilot-has-a-message-for-tom-cruise-i-could-have-waxed-his-###-in-a-dogfight/

I very much disagree with this.

We now know who didn't see Everything Everywhere All at Once in the theater. Maverick was great and I have been raving about it but EEAaO is without a doubt a better movie and was absolutely incredible in the theater. West Side Story and Dune were pretty freaking great theater watches as well.

Northman would have been amazing too.

Saw it last night. About as good as it good have been I think. The flight scenes were great and it had the right amount of cheese and nostalgia.

Of course, it was super predictable and some of the plot seemed silly or even illogical at times, but it was well worth the watch in the theater.

Jennifer Connelly isn’t bad looking for a woman.

Wait, there are posters that think she's bad looking??
Before someone @'s me.

She's not "bad looking" but she's also not sexy either which they are trying to make her be.  She's got a pretty face with a flat body from top to bottom with no curves.

She's just plain Jane, girl next door.

7: Cute girl at the club, in classes, at work, in apt building. Definitely cute, but not tops locally.

In his defense, I did see what @offdee is getting at.

She still has a beautiful face but when she turned to go back inside the door I did wonder where the rest of her had gone. She doesn't need a badonkadonk, but some curves look nice.

I suppose. Which keeps her from being over a 9.

But her face alone makes her a 7 and her body is still pretty fit.

8.8 to me on the @offdee scale.

Woah. woah, woah, not even close to that Lieutenant.

9: the single hottest girl at the club. The single hottest girl at school, etc. (more locally amazing)

Agree to disagree, Colonel.

Put her in a local club and I still think she turns the most heads (and I say this as somebody who prefers more curves/weight).

She’d turn heads cuz she’s famous. Without her name she’s just another 50 yr old mom who takes care of herself.  Dime a dozen

She’s f-ing 51!!!!  51.  For 51 she’s stunning.  Just like when she was 25, and 35 and 45.

And?  Exactly she's 51.   Being a 7 for a 51 yr old is an amazing accomplishment.

That doesn't just automatically make her a 9 cuz she looks good for her age.   She's 51.  She's a 7.  Science.

I think the scale should be sliding.  Comparing a 51yr old to a 25yr old is simply not fair.  And for that role they weren’t going to cast a 25yr old.  So for that role I can’t think of a hotter 51-year-old to cast.

Except 51 year old Marissa Tomei
