I got Young. What I want is enough clarity to be able to cut the pothead loose. Roster space is at a premium.I agree. Good posting.Any person with football knowledge knows that the staff in DEN likes SY and his potential.

http://www.ibabuzz.com/raidersblog/2007/10...a-light-breeze/Echemandu was just released by the Raiders. I doubt that the Raides wanted to release him because they liked him, but it was a numbers game. All that I heard about Echemandu was good things. Now that he's available, the Broncos may want to take a look at him.If Travis Henry is suspended in Denver, don't be surprised if the Broncos take a look at Adimchinobe Echemandu. He ran extremely well all through training camp and in the preseason in the same blocking system the Broncos utilize. He was waived to make room for Dominic Rhodes, coming off a four-game suspension.
That's foolish talk - this game is all about speculation.EVERY owner should be looking to roster SY if they can. The question is whether it is also worth rostering any of the three other backs. Finally, noone made you open this thread - there are two threads on this page that are clearly "news only" threads. Can we all seriously put this topic to sleep. If the guy is suspended it won't be for another month. Then you can speculate all you want on a RBBC. Those who are for it will not be carrying SY on their roster. Those who are against it will carry SY on their roster. This nonsense has got to stop. Can't we pin this in a CRYSTAL BALL forum? You guys should seriously call that Brown lady. I'm sure she already knows what's going to happen!
Levin just owned someone?Looks like a good call to me!...you chose MJD over Henry yea good call..........
Since I'm a Henry owner I can just about guarantee it.Latest Per ESPN: Henry will offer a hair sample and take a lie detector test to prove his innocence. I just get this feeling that this situation will drag on all season.

There lies an inherent problem with this scenario. THC, the active ingredient in marijuana remains in ones system for about a month. So depending when the grass was last ingested, the body may be clean at this point. Maybe I am wrong about how long it would remain as traceable in ones hair, so if so continue on with the enlightening thread. Finally decided to post in this fun.Latest Per ESPN: Henry will offer a hair sample and take a lie detector test to prove his innocence. Correct, it doesnt help his situation at all. He should have never tested dirty in the first place. There lies an inherent problem with this scenario. I believe a hair follicle test can detect THC for 6 months from use. There lies an inherent problem with this scenario. I'd think Tampa Bay would be after him more than the Broncos would be.Add this into the mix:

Pretty sure they do this type of testing before employing teachers, etc. Here's some info I clipped from the web:I believe a hair follicle test can detect THC for 6 months from use. There lies an inherent problem with this scenario. Q: What is hair drug screening?A hair screen is an examination that uses a small sample of hair to identify specific drugs used by the person being tested. A hair follicle drug test measures the drug molecules and their specific metabolites that are produced only after the drug has been processed by the human body. After the drug is processed, trace amounts of its metabolites are inserted into hair follicle by the bloodstream. Q: What time period does a standard hair follicle test cover?A standard hair follicle screen covers a period of approximately 90 days, but is susceptible to time variation depending on the growth rate of your hair. The hair sample is cut as close to the scalp as possible and the most recent 3.9cm (or 1.5 inches) are tested. It is possible to go back even further than 90 days since the time period is limited only by the length of the hair sample, but is standardized to a 90 day history.Q: What type of drugs can be detected in a standard hair test?Cocaine (Cocaine & Benzoylecgonine), Marijuana, Opiates (Codeine, Morphine & 6-Monacteyl Morphine), Methamphetamine (Methamphetamine/Amphetamine & Ecstasy), and Phencyclidine (PCP). These five drug classes are mandated for testing by the Federal Government. Q:How fast does head hair grow?Hair collected at the crown of the head grows on the average of approximately 1.3 cm (or 1/2 inch) per month. This growth rate varies among people by approximately + .2 cm per month which can create a possible time variation of up to +1 week per month.Q:Can body hair be drug tested like hair from the head?Body hair can be drug tested just as hair from the head. The growth rates for body are considerably slower than the hair from your head. Most body hair is replaced in about one year. It is challenging to precisely represent the time period of a standard screen with body hair so substances may be detected in body hair for up to 1 year after the substance left the blood stream.Q:How much hair is needed?A standard screen with GC/MS confirmation requires 40+ milligrams of hair or approximately 50 - 70 strands that are up to 3.9cm (or 1.5 inches) in length. The thickness and pigment color of different types of head hair (thick black vs. thinning gray) is the basis of this variation. Back to TopQ:What if I am almost bald or have no hair?Hair can be collected from several head and/or body locations (excluding pubic areas) and combined to obtain the required amount of hair. In the rare case where no hair is collectable, complete urine/adulteration testing may be utilized. Q:How effective is hair follicle testing in detecting drug usage? In comparison to a urinalysis drug test, cocaine, PCP, opiates, and methamphetamine have proven hair analysis far more effective than urine testing in identifying low-level drug use over an extended period of time since these are normally out of the bloodstream in within 3-7 days (see drug detection times). The detection of marijuana is currently less sensitive than the other drugs in identifying low level drug users, but is considered approximately equal to urinalysis in identifying marijuana users. The detection period for hair is limited only by the length of the hair sample and is approximately 90 days for a standard screen.Q:How do drugs get into hair? After a substance is ingested, whether orally, smoked, snorted, or injected, metabolites are produced as the drug is processed by the human body. As these drugs and metabolites circulate in the blood stream, they enter and nourish the hair follicle and are then inserted into the hair strand.
Agreed. I'm no toxicologist, but I would also think that he would've needed to be hot-boxing with people that were puffing in order to have enough exposure for it to show up in a lab test...which I think the NFL would find to be a violation of the general code of conduct. From the Denver Post:
The Broncos have used lie detector tests on players in the past. Henry also is willing to provide hair samples for testing in an attempt to prove his innocence.
A possible defense for Henry is that his urine tested positive for low levels of THC from marijuana because he was subjected to second-hand smoke. Because the suit has been moved to federal court in New York, and Henry may appeal if not pleased with the outcome, this saga could stretch into November, potentially giving Henry another four or five games before he might serve a suspension.
I have always loved this defense... And I also dont think the NFL will care
This situations is just getting nuttier by the day.Bill Williamson, of The Denver Post, reports Denver Broncos RB Travis Henry's (knee, ankle) lawsuit against the NFL has been moved to New York City. He may be able to delay a possible one-year suspension from the NFL for violating the league's substance abuse policy by appealing the decision of the lawsuit if it does not go in his favor. An appeal could push a final decision on the matter into November and give him four or five more weeks to be able to play. Henry is scheduled to undergo a polygraph test this week to see if he has recently smoked marijuana and is willing to give hair samples to prove his innocence, according to an NFL source.Fantasy Impact: It looks like Henry could be around a little longer. He remains a must play as long as he isn't suspended. But Henry owners should have Selvin Young waiting in the wings just in case.
I used to work for a state crime lab. He tested positive in the urine test and Im sure he would test positive in the hair follicle test also. Each lab has their own testing protocol but they probably tested his A sample using some type of Immuno-Assay. If that sample tests above a certain cutoff value of for example 40ng/ml (THC) metabolites (not sure what it is) then they would test the B sample with a more sensitive method. Mass Spectrometry most likely. If he tested positive w/ his B sample also....sorry folks....he smoked the weed. In court it really is not going to matter what Henry said he did or didn't do (they won't allow him to use polygraph results if he was to take one). The polygraph test is not a test of innocence. It only tests your heart rate along with a couple of other conditions which are tied to your heart rate/breathing. I could teach someone in a week how to pass one.ETA: Everything that Henry is coming up with for a defense is very weak. From the Denver Post:

I`m sure travis will take that into consideration and just drop his appeal so you can shore up your teamThey're taking up two very valuable spots on my roster right now. I wish this would clear up so I could cut Henry or Young.
Sel Young looked AWFUL in his limited reps yesterday. He crumbles upon initial contact. Never extropolate for a starting RB based upon his production on surprise draws and gadget plays when the guy is in on "passing downs""I have a lot of confidence in Selvin Young."- Mike ShanahanMore to the point, what makes anyone think Selvin Young shown can carry the load on his own?![]()

Wonderous. So that means I have a pothead and a chocolate chip cookie eating up precious roster space.Maybe I just cut bait with Young and ride Henry as long as it goes.Sel Young looked AWFUL in his limited reps yesterday. With any luck Henry will have eaten him by week 6, what with the munchies and all.Wonderous. So that means I have a pothead and a chocolate chip cookie eating up precious roster space.
Who's making odds? Will this be resolved before Denver comes out of bye?I don't know what to make of the legal process, but Goodell's track record says to me 75 percent chance it will be resolved by week 7. Any takers?"But we'll be dealing with it on a timely basis."That is what I like to hear.

This is the important part, and I'm sure every agency doing testing has different minimal levels but the minimum is set so that casual contact (contact high) will not show up. For example, if you haven't smoked for a long time (more than a month or so) and your system is clean of all THC, in most cases you could smoke a joint/bowl to yourself and pass a test the next day because the cumulative amounts from one smoke session is not enough to exceed the habitual smoker's cutoff point. If you fail the test, you didn't get "just a contact high."I used to work for a state crime lab. they could be 4-12 for all I care.. Look at Miami and tell me record means squat to running the ball.. WHEN Henry is suspended Young can be huge because of his opportunity alone.. Now he will have to prove that opportunity.. Most who have seen him think he can succeed.. Including me or I wouldn't have picked him up..I hate to be the party pooper, but despite what Levin thinks, RBBC is a possibility. with Nalen out, i think the whole rushing attack will be merely average. IMO, w/o Henry this is an average team & RBBC, rendering SYoung et al. barely worth rostering.I don't like being a naysayer, but the whole Denver offense is practically worthless moving forward. Denver will be lucky to sniff 8-8; 6-10 is a real possibility.
I'll go out on a limb and say Goodell urges the Broncos to give him some time off before the next game. However, I think this issue will drag on for about a month.Who's making odds? A defense that can't stop the run, and a pro-bowl caliber lineman out is a recipe for being behind in quite a few games this year devaluing the DEN RBs significantly. I was holding out hope for Ricky going to Denver, but now (as an owner) I'm hoping he goes elsewhere if anywhere. This is the important part, and I'm sure every agency doing testing has different minimal levels but the minimum is set so that casual contact (contact high) will not show up. I think he was visiting Ricky and will use this as an explanation for failing..I heard Henry had a phone conversation with Bill Clinton and told the Ex-President that he did not inhale!

I agree 100% with you, Nalen going out which I put the thread up on yesterday, has a huge impact in that running game. Denver could be 0-5 right now...maybe 6-10 is very likely.Link to the broncos board?Interesting Twist today...

Yep. They make special shampoos that a person can get off the internet. Or so I have heard.*cough*THC will show up in the follicles for 6 months, correct? Urine for a month at the most, correct? If he passes a hair test, which I'm assuming is more accurate than the urine test, wouldn't that settle the matter?
