of course. it's a weird issue for me, though. not to get into the whole debate about when life begins, etc., but when you see a 4-celled embryo grow into your child (I have color photos through the microscope of the embryo and 17 ultrasounds (high-risk pregnancy)), it gives you a different perspective of what exactly the embryos represent.



basically, I have frozen the potential fraternal twin to my 6-year old daughter.

Crazy. And to think we're not far from the day where we all will have potential identical twins to ourselves inherent in flakes of our skin or hair follicles and ####.

I think the main question is age of your wife. If she's over 35 or pushing 40, every month that goes by becomes exponentially more valuable in my opinion, and I'd be more apt to attempt more IUI (or IVF) instead of acupuncture.

Wife is 30.
 
Going on 3 months of teh bonin sans protection. Nuthin yet. Weird thing is she's had 5 cycles in 3 months since coming off the pill, and that she says her cycle feels "different" than before (when she was younger and not on the pill).

I'm 30, and she's 31. We might have to start charting and getting scientific. Ugh...

I'm a firm believer that the pill jacks up a female's body big time.

that thing takes a while to regulate itself againgive it time

TF> Best of luck. It's a pretty ####### fantastic experience. Hoping that it works out for y'all. We transferred two on day five and ended up with a superbentley.

I think it's natural to struggle with those things. Mrs CE had a lot of those days when we were trying to get pregnant. Seemed like everyone around us were having babies except us. I was always happy for folks but there was always that little part inside of you that asked, "Why not us?"BTW, we never did get pregnant but adopted a little boy in April. And I can't imagine loving my own biological child and more than I love him. Not being able to have your own child doesn't mean you can't have a wonderful family.

I think the addition of any drugs to the equasion is by and large detrimental to the process, unless there is a specific medical issue you are addressing. The second specialist we used jacked my wife up on more and more drugs with each of the 3 attempts we made. It just made my wife exponentially more nuts than she was when we started out. And, more to the point, it didn't work. The third specialist we saw gave us 2 months "off" to clear all that stuff out of her system. His philosophy is that her body knew what to do and we just had to support that. We did AI on back-to-back days and got pregnant on our first try with him (our 8th try overall). I'm sure there were many other factors involved in addition to no drugs (luck for one, and the fact that we had essentially given up and started looking into adoption, which reduced her stress about the situation). But I was sold on the concept.

Thanks to everyone.We used Dr. Roach. We interviewed a handfull. She had solid success rates, and we just felt real comfortable with her. Her staff was great. They would email/call within a few minutes of any questions we had. Very good to work with.

We're just starting the medication/exam process for our frozen embryo. Transfer scheduled for 9/22.

The cost is going to vary wildly dependent upon the amount of drugs you need. Our ballpark was $12K - $15K for the IVF (ignoring the cost of the other things we did). We ended up on the low end of that range.

The cost is going to vary wildly dependent upon the amount of drugs you need. Our ballpark was $12K - $15K for the IVF (ignoring the cost of the other things we did). We ended up on the low end of that range.

I was actually very surprised in the range of costs from the different doctors we interviewed. Lucky for us, the one we were most comfortable with also ended up being the cheapest. I think we ended up around $13k including the drugs.

I was actually very surprised in the range of costs from the different doctors we interviewed. Lucky for us, the one we were most comfortable with also ended up being the cheapest. I think we ended up around $13k including the drugs.

oof.Our doc quoted 8750 for the procedure. Wife already has one round of drugs insurance paid for- unused (and I think an expensive one)- from our last IUI attempt, but we're looking at 3-5 additional drugs to buy. Our doc also said that he collects unused medicines from folk who get pregnant and then gives them to his patients... but can't exactly plan on that.

Wife also wants to do gender selection. (oof)2

Our doc did the same thing (collecting unused drugs) but there weren't any available at our time ;) Never heard of gender selection.
