Tush Push - still legal, Philly fans begin to heal after rough year (3 Viewers)

I think the ban should have passed this time -- it's not just that play, it's assisting any ball-carrier through pushing/pulling, which I think goes against the spirit of the game and could lead to injury.
And this is EXACTLY the reason why those on the "ban it" side give. It's a very simple and logical reason that the pretzel-logic defenders fail to grasp.
Things are always simple and common sense when we agree with them.
So "you can't assist the runner" is a hard concept for you to grasp? It's not so simple for you? That just completely boggles your mind and you can't understand it?
I can grasp it. I just think it's "opinion" not "common sense".

No need for condescension in your indignance.

I'm not trying to be condescending. I just think this is as basic as it gets in football and it's not some complex idea on my part.
Well you are. And you're doing it in two different threads.

I disagree, of course, but I humbly suggest you take a look at ALL of the posts in both threads instead of singling me out. I think you'll find enough condescension not coming from me.

Haha yeah I read that part. I like cocky Jeff coming out more, I think Howie is starting to rub that part off on him some more.
Wait, you think begging the other 31 owners FOR AN HOUR not to ban your dumb version of a QB sneak is cocky?

:lmao:
“Begging” 😂 😆. Troll better please. You haven’t evolved in years.
What part of “trying to convince” (that better?) the other owners FOR AN HOUR is showing hes “cocky”? Gimme a break

I don't see any transcript released showing any sort of "begging" If anything it was not enough time needed to correct all the various levels of disinformation out about the play such as injury risk (zero data) and Jason Kelce retiring because of it (untrue)

But its over. We will move on just fine, it seems detractors of the play still can't get over it, and that's fine.

The Eagles lead the league in rushing touchdowns when they were just a 9-8 team in Hurts' first full season as a starter.

And that offensive isn't as good as this one.

Every single person reading this thread has spent many, many hours arguing for things that don’t affect them at all. This genius is flabbergasted that an owner of a team spent an hour defending something that affects HIS team 🤦‍♂️ 😆

You’ve got to be joking. They talked about it at the meetings a month? ago too
Right and that's when they didn't have the votes and EXTENDED it to get to this point right? From what I see it was 16-16 and the NFL is the one that kept dragging this out, right?

Jason Kelce literally said on his own podcast he was correcting OWNERS *YESTERDAY* about the fact he did NOT retire from the Tush Push.

So seems it didn't stick eh?

Also, if all this is true and I’m not saying it isn’t…why does he and everyone else from Philly including the fans care so much that they were even voting to try to get rid of it?

I’m not flabbergasted at all. I laughed at it and the part about the fans saying it was him being cocky. Then you came along and called me a troll. And a now a genius.

Not very excellent of you

Why do people, from all over, care about a play being voted on for removal for the first time ever? Geez, I can’t quite put my finger on why that could be…

Bc its clearly obvious it was a ploy against the play. Look at the language the Packers initially proposed. Why didn't they just go back to the 2005 version?

All the reporting from the media, including the NFL network itself sure isn't reporting on this as "New rule fails to stop pulling/pushing players"

Its nothing but "Tush Push Ban Fails, Good For Eagles" which naturally means if it would have passed = bad for Eagles right lol

Idk what the votes were then. I didn’t think they voted on it then. Maybe they did
I’ve never seen any rumors that said he retired because of it. I have seen video of him complaining about it, saying he hated it and it was very tough on his body

You’re right I did make fun of him for that. An hour of it. And then the toughest fan base in the league swoops in to his rescue.

“He wasn’t begging!” “He’s cocky!!!!11”

I’ve posted many times in these threads that I really don’t care if they ban the play or not. And I don’t. That doesn’t mean I can’t laugh at nonsense

Well this is me telling you today that Jason Kelce said verbatim in part of is lobbying for the play was literally correcting the fact of the matter on if the Tush Push forced him into retirement or not.

They didn't officially vote bc, sort of like politics, if you know you don't have the votes, you don't hold it, bc then its official. But the word is, it was 16-16 then.

Here is some reading on the topic further happy to help spread the truth

Ok. Not watching vids but I believe you. Kinda goes against the short video I watched before with him bitching about it but whatever

So you admired Luries cocky attitude when he was clearing up the disinformation at the meeting? Got it

I can both ***** about my job but also not want to quit. I think that is literally all of us.

But anyway, splitting hairs here anyway. With/without the Tush Push. The Eagles are still the team to beat

Still a Super Team.

Still have the best: OL, DC in the league and it not THE best, top 3 at minimum.

Still Super Bowl favorites for a reason.

And they were going to be mad whether the vote passed or not, so get ready.

Lol "not trying to be condescending." Please read your response and explain what purpose it serves other than condescension and childish insult.

I mean I get you're being facetious, but last year's team has a legit argument as a Top 5/10 team all time.

Will see what happens this year, but barring a major injury, this was a top team for 2025 with/without the Tush Push in the fold.

Week 1 should be fun. I wonder if we can hold the Cowboys below the 6.5 ppg they managed against the Eagles last year.

I can't help that's what you read with your inside voice, but that was not the intent. My guess is that because you already have a bias that's how you read/interpreted it. If I was a poster that you agreed with, then I'm guessing you would have read it completely differently.

Correct.

That said, hate away on the Cheeseheads all you want.
Them and the 9 other teams deserve the hate they get. It’s pathetic.

Also I read a stat that said more people have been hurt doing the Lambeau leap than the tush push. Maybe it should be banned? 🤔 😂

Did 10 teams vote to ban it or did 22 teams vote to ban it?
10 teams voted to "save it" if you will.
Correct, 22 teams voted to ban it

10 voted to maintain the pushing of tushes: Eagles, Ravens, Browns, Lions, Jaguars, Dolphins, Patriots, Saints, Jets, Titans

For those Eagles fans feeling petty (despite Green Bay obviously bringing this to the table on behalf of the League Office), the Eagles defeated the Packers by that same margin in the playoffs: 22-10
I wish more people understood this. LaFleur and company didn't care that much they carried the torch for the league.

It brings me joy to see how much the Eagles affect your personal identity.

And the Eagles could be the best Super Bowl team of all time and you would still go to sleep every night in your Dallas Cowboys bedsheets, holding your Emmitt Smith doll.

We all know what is intended by the phrase “assist the runner.” Unfortunately, it’s a really dumb phrase because the actual words don’t accurately convey in a very simple way what is legal and what is illegal if you narrowly focus on the words “assist the runner.”

As an example, a basic and legal blocking scheme technically “assists the runner.” The center snapping the ball “assists the runner.” (Can’t get yards if the ball isn’t snapped) An amazing WR who draws double coverage downfield opens up space in the middle of field and takes defenders out of the box. Guess what? That also assists the runner.

So while I agree with BR that people pretending they don’t know what is meant by “assist the runner” are IMO being deliberately obtuse, the flip side is that it’s a really dumb term because it isn’t accurate.

Happy Friday to all. No offense meant with any of the above. I have a migraine and it really is annoying.

Will see what happens this year, but barring a major injury, this was a top team for 2025 with/without the Tush Push in the fold.

Week 1 should be fun. I wonder if we can hold the Cowboys below the 6.5 ppg they managed against the Eagles last year.

It brings me joy to see how much the Eagles affect your personal identity.

And the Eagles could be the best Super Bowl team of all time and you would still go to sleep every night in your Dallas Cowboys bedsheets, holding your Emmitt Smith doll.

Lol "not trying to be condescending." Please read your response and explain what purpose it serves other than condescension and childish insult.
I can't help that's what you read with your inside voice, but that was not the intent. My guess is that because you already have a bias that's how you read/interpreted it. If I was a poster that you agreed with, then I'm guessing you would have read it completely differently.

Sure, it's my bias on this meaningless issue that is causing me to misunderstand the plain meaning of the words you chose and not see that your 'intent' was something other than condescension.

I agree with all of this, and its a decent way to phrase it as compared to "That just completely boggles your mind and you can't understand it?" which was the reason I was busting BR's prunes about his rude and unhelpful response, or I guess moreso because he doubled down when called out rather than owning it. For me, the way the Packers' first proposal was drafted was completely unenforceable and honestly just downright stupid. The second draft was perhaps more detailed and easier to understand, but still would have been a disaster if implemented with the way it was phrased. Either the drafter didn't put much thought into it, or we learned that actually drafting and implementing a workable rule to ban this play is much more difficult than most of us realized. I have no problem if they ban this play or they don't - could not possibly care less about it. I do think any major rule change should be based on a well-articulated reasoning and we've not see that in this case but it really doesn't matter to me and I don't think the ban would have changed much if anything.

I'm reminded of the "hip drop" tackle discussion this time last year. We heard it would end the game as we know it, that defenders were no longer allowed to tackle, that they will soon be playing flag football, doom/gloom end of the world stuff in May before a single play has been run. Of course it was nothing at all, as anyone who took the time to actually read the rule would have understood.

Where you getting this info? Just a gut feeling? Or do you have some proof?
It has been reported.

There is a lot more than this, too.

With/without the Tush Push. The Eagles are still the team to beat

Still a Super Team.

Still have the best: OL, DC in the league and it not THE best, top 3 at minimum.

Still Super Bowl favorites for a reason.

You're in our thread daily right?
The lack of self awareness is stunning (but not really).

Astonishing level of obsession they have with the team/fans. Can barely make it through a day.
