U2 - Community rankings - FIN - #4 Sunday Bloody Sunday, #3 - One, #2 - Bad, #1 - Where the Streets Have No Name -Spotify links, thanks to Krista4 (1 Viewer)

I didn't have Bullet in my rankings to 25, errrrrr....27 and to be frank, I don't think it would have appeared in a list of top 50 for me, even if I could count that high.

But I do so love the line "Well the god I believe in isn't short of cash, Mister" from the live version.

JML, about every disliked U2 song:  "It's bad, but it's no Get On Your Boots."

Pip, about every liked U2 song:  "It's good, but it's no Bullet the Blue Sky."
I don’t know what the nadir was before Get on Your Boots....maybe Wire lol. Pretty sure they do could do a jazz remix of Bono farting and I would still enjoy it more.

As for Bullet....I can promise it will be higher than the original countdown. How high is the question?. Several tracks within the top 60 are rising at least 15-20 spots. Will Bullet be one of them?

I don't think I've ever heard the song "Get on Your Boots" nor do I want to but was this on the album that got downloaded automatically to everybody's iPhone and made a bunch of people mad?

Well, I just looked at my list and read it to Mrs APK.  While reading it I said “why is that song #1 on my list?!?!”

:lmao:   I'm almost as bad.  I moved my #2 song down to #6 at the very last minute and have regretted it ever since.

This must be what heaven feels like lol

This would be 100% true if I ranked Bullet #1, but I did NOT!
Neither did I haha. Didnt rank Get on Your Boots #1 either. So we’re square.

Well, I put a beloved song at #60 and now wish I hadn’t ranked it at all.  (And no, it wasn’t Bullet)

edit to add:  Mrs APK and I made our lists independently.  Yet somehow ended up with 4 of the same songs in our top-5.  At the exact same slots within the top-5.  It’s possible we’ve been married too long.

Did she submit a list?!?

Todays teaser

There is a song that finished in the top 70 in our original countdown. It has only garnered 2 votes this time, including mine, and the highest this time is well into the 100s.

There are some obscure stuff, rare live covers and truly awful songs that got more votes this time.

What song would this be? It will finish well into the 200s this time dropping over 150 spots. Probably the biggest drop of all.....so far

I'm going to go with Zoo Station.

#69 - Love is Bigger than Anything in its Way (2017)

#68 - Magnificent (2009)

#67 - A Day Without Me (1980)

#66 - Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me (1995)

#65 - Hawkmoon 269 (1988)

#64 - Zooropa (1993)

#63 - I’ll go Crazy if I Don’t Go Crazy Tonight (2009)

#62 - Zoo Station (1991)

#61 - Satellite of Love (1991)

#60 - All Because of You (2004)

Literally no idea, because people seemingly like recent U2 a lot more than I do.  #61, 63, 68 or 69 seem like fair game.

I'm going to go with Zoo Station.

Of the five named so far, I have four of them on my list ranging from #65-#80, so only one of these is a possibility.  I don't want to spoil anything so won't say which one.  I have an advantage on this question having submitted a 115-song list.

After looking at 50-60, I really hope it’s Dirty Day.  Oof.  That’s a song I never need to hear again.

Yep.  25 songs.  None after Achtung.   Just the ultimate stubbornness.  My daughter was mildly irritated by the omission of a few songs.  (“Seriously, you didn’t bother including Beautiful Day?  I thought you liked the band.”)
Wow.....your wife and I are cut from the same cloth.  25 songs (well, 27), nothing after Achtung and I didn't even consider Beautiful Day.  Give her a high five for me.

#4/6 for me.  I hadn't listened to this much U2 in several years and upon reflection, I learned I REALLY like the song Zoo Station.  And this album.  So good.
I love the Achtung Baby album. I have 7 songs from it in my Top 50. Zoo Station isn't one of them. I don't dislike the song, but it isn't a Top 50 favorite. I was thinking maybe the song is the one Johnny is referring to since I have a feeling he is somewhat surprised of how much the song fell, and Zoo Station is the opener on a popular album. That's my reasoning for the guess.

I'm going to go with Zoo Station.
Two top 10 rankings. 23 rankings in total

I considered putting Wire and Boots as my Top 2, but we might not ever have gotten to see the final rankings revealed.
Someone did put Boots as number 1 to wind me up. Im not sure if I have made it clear yet, but Its not a favorite of mine.

Here's how my ranking for these songs went down . . .

#69 - Love is Bigger than Anything in its Way (2017) - Was 97, still 97
#68 - Magnificent (2009) - Was 94, now 93
#67 - A Day Without Me (1980) - Was 74, now 69
#66 - Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me (1995) - Was 24, now 32
#65 - Hawkmoon 269 (1988) - Was 63, now 73
#64 - Zooropa (1993) - Was 51, now 64
#63 - I’ll go Crazy if I Don’t Go Crazy Tonight (2009) - Was 96, still 96
#62 - Zoo Station (1991) - Was 22, now 44
#61 - Satellite of Love (1991) - Was 114, now unranked (only ranked 100 songs this time)
#60 - All Because of You (2004) - Was 70, now 57

Based off of that, I am guessing the mystery song that fell like a brick through a window was Satellite of Love.

I still think I should have submitted my all-inclusive list with 500 songs on it. JML would never have spoken to me again in this or any other lifetime. All the songs are in my database, so such a listing would not be that hard to put together (but would serve no purpose). Of course, many of the songs would not meet the criteria as a bunch of them are not U2 songs (solo Bono work or collaborations of some band members with other artists). A list of only 100 cover songs would have been my style, but that would dilute the voting for their collected body of real work.

Hey, its the guy who goes to shopping malls at christmas and says Santa isnt real to all the kids. But yes, your theory is correct.

I was tough on myself for including Slug. But including songs where Adam Clayton appears in the video clip isnt really U2.

Agree with Krista, a list with just 100 covers would be amazing. If you can do in a few days I will include as the 41st list. Satellite will jump into the high 100s lol

I assume solo Bono songs are not eligible.

No. Otherwise In a Lifetime makes my top 50. All 4 members must be named or involved...within reason. Im sure theres some official U2 tracks where a U2 member didnt partake. I cant imagine Bono doing much on the instrumentals ...tamborine?
There are “official” U2 tracks that don’t have everyone in the band on them. Whatevs. I’ll make do with the others.

Yeah thats why I said “named”. If its an official U2 release = Ok. If its from a u2 live concert, its ok.

If its edge playing guitar for the Screaming Destitutes of Kilimanjaro, not so much. Adam and Larry doing the Mission Impossible Thing = No.
