I am surprised she didn't respond by quitting her job or working 10 hours/week again when you told her this so she could go back to living at your house rent-free. Or maybe she hasn't thought all that through yet  You should really start a St. Louis Bob type poll where people can guess the actual date she finally leaves your house.

It kills me that some people in this world use their children as human shields. SIL knows damn well that the only reason she's not out on the street already is because you don't want to do that to her kids.

Couple quick updates

She's still here. :shootmenow:

Apparently we're finally starting to get through to her. She's recently taken on more hours at "work". She's an underwriter for an insurance company, and her manager has agreed to up her hours from 10/week to 30/week. It's not much, but it's a start.....this, of course, comes at an expense to us too. We've now lost our sitter(two days a week). So our girls will now be watched by my wife's cousin 5 days a week($30 a day-still cheap as hell)

We've told her that with the extra hours she'll be working that she will be expected to pay rent....we have yet to come up with a number. At first she thought it was an attack on her because she was no longer watching our girls. WTF? YOU LIVE HERE FOR FREE!!!! Apparently she doesn't realize it cost $$$$ to feed, clean, house her kids...... She has no clue.

She also has an interview for bartender position at a local restaurant/bar(girls wear close to nothing)....this job would be perfect for her.

An interesting twist to this drama is that the husband has been in contact with the SIL. He's talking about moving back to Illinois, with hope of trying to save the marriage. She really has no intention of making amends, as she's getting pretty hot and heavy with her new boy toy.. Her kids have asked Santa to please bring back dad to them. :heartbreaking:

I've also recently learned that the SIL has been talking to the husbands step brother. The step brother has offered to pay the SIL for the seex. Huh? Wife thinks the sister may have already taken him up on this. At least she said she wouldn't put her sister past this.

She is a real piece of work......she's got a major case of the crazies.

Anyone want to take her off my hands?
Name of establishment?

Is this chick still hot? That can go along way towards overlooking the crazy for some of the local fellas

I'll just say it's downtown Plainfield. I'm not holding out hope though, she's blown two different bartending jobs in the past two weeks. Cemeno's and La Dolce Vita(lasted a grand total of 3 days combined)
:wub:My favorite place. And how do you f up pouring beers at Cemeno's?
Story goes that her new bf's ex also works there. She had some of her friends go directly to ownership claiming that SIL was rude to them....:fired: I'm not sure I buy this story, I'm pretty sure she was fired because she's allergic to work. She had a job locked up at LDV but didn't want to do the pay free training....WTF?FYI: La Dolce Vita is AWESOME!!!

I guess it's Friday, right?

Nothing has really changed. She still goes out, pawning the kids off to whomever will watch them. Recently the wife and I have taken the stance that she's going to do whatever she wants, so we're more inclined to watcher her kids. More for their sake, than hers. They need some stability in their lives, and we're doing our best to try and give it to them.

As stated before, she watches our twin girls a couple days a week.
I'm blown away that you let her watch your twin daughters a couple of days a week.

Don't have to worry about that anymore. Truth be told, she's really pretty great with the girls. Treats her own kids like dirt, but swoons over my girls every time she see's them.

I've been to the LDV in Frankfort. FIL loves the place, so we've done a few of his B-days out there. Always liked thier food.

The easiest way to get fired from a bar is to get drunk during your shift, give away drinks, steal money, and down the list is to have sechs with the customers during your shift; which ones do you think she was doing as compared to somebody complaining about her?

Not really an update

She's still here, and it's starting to take a real toll on my marriage.

Told the wife to get her the #### out, or I'll be moving out.

Okay, now that I've said that. Can I claim her and her kids on my taxes?

Oof.I hope your wife takes your request seriously GB. You have enough to deal with w/o having another family to take care of.

Truth be told, I'm really getting concerned about you here. 7 months under your roof and no new pics?Plenty of good advice in previous FFA threads about seperating from your spouse/divorce to guide you as you make future life choices. Is there a specific $$$ that would make her tolerable to keep as a tax write off?Good luck having her extracted from your home. Wish you the best.

There is no number, I'd rather she just go away.

But, I've been the sole supporter of her and her kids for the past 7 months......has to be worth something, no?

I'm just not sure it's legal to claim her and her kids.

I don't see why not but I'm not an expert. You should check into it with a professional.

Yuck dude, don't envy your current position. To me, one month is called helping out family (regardless of whether you actually like them) and is the right thing to do. Should be plenty of time for her to at least get some progress to being back on her feet. 7 months is simply beyond on reasonable obligation. She's clearly gotten comfortable and has no plans of changing anything. I think kicking her out is the only move here. Hell I'd kick my own parent out if they stayed that long and were capable of getting a job (which the SIL clearly is).

Unfortunately, you won't be able to claim your SIL if she made over $3,650.

For her kids, you would have had to provide over 50% of their support (probable), but they cannot be claimed on any other persons taxes. So depending if the divorce is finalized (and the structure of who gets to claim the kids each year) or if you can convince the SIL to let you do it, you might be able to.

Here is a breakdown of what needs to happen. All six criteria must be met.

ETA - I am a CPA, but don't touch taxes in my job, but this is pretty low-level stuff.

I plan on asking our accountant, but can' hurt to ask here first.
Odds are SIL will already be claiming them.
She's given the wife the go ahead

Is unemployment considered income?

This is why I pay somebody for this.

The one in the red hawks shirt or the grey shirt? Neither looks like the one in the wedding picture.

What do your parents-in-law say?
Hawks shirt is the Mrs......grey shirt is the crazy, she's in serious decline in this picture. The in-laws are firmly behind us, no matter what we do with her.

If she didn't have kids, she wouldn't have lasted a week in our home.

Surprised no wealthy older guys (not Hugh Hefner old, but 40s-50s) that would be happy to have the company of a family to support with an attractive woman? Any there social circles she can get involved with that might help facilitate her finding a future to strive for? People get in a downward spiral if they don't have a goal for the future, not living a productive lifestyle. 7 months homeless, no career, it's time to prospect a future for her and her family. Tough spot for you and your wife & kids.

Wrigley,

It looks like you have a nice family and you're too young to put up with this crap. Now you can take this advice from someone who has lived it; get you're SIL into a rehab and make it stick or she'll be dead within 5 years. If you take her kids, she'll commit suicide; if you kick them all out, she'll end up being killed and the kids will be molested; if you keep her with you she'll probably OD. Get her help and make it stick.

Signed by,

someone who has seen it.

Alternately, you can just start hiding old school mouse traps near the booze, capture it on video, and create a series of hilarious youtube clips staring Boozey McMousetrapHands!

Reverse Russian bride?
Exactly. Hook a rich guy. Hell, rich guys going across the world for wives. SIL would be hell of a catch for a certain segment of men. In Chicago too, for sure. Pragmatism, and thinking of the kids. Don't see the downside, something positive to focus on (getting in top shape, getting profiles going, etc.) instead of drinking and moping around all day.
