Unexpected Roommates (2 Viewers)

Wrigley, good for your wife sticking up for her sister. Feel bad for the kids. Sounds like the dad needs to get the kids or is that a bad idea?

Damn, she's got a lot of practice at that. That's one heck of a resilient liver.

That's 12 drinks in a two hour period for a 150# woman. I don't even drink that fast...
She weighs 110 soaking wet.
Means she probably had about 8 drinks in her system at the time she blew (assume the reading is accurate within the standard %10 error rate).ETA: sounds like it was the on-scene portable breath test. Those things aren't terribly reliable and will really be skewed high if there is any residual mouth alcohol - but regardless the chick had to still be pretty hammered.

Bad idea, he hasn't been in the picture the past 7 years or so.

oof. GL Wrigley. Who can take the kids? Grandparents?
We'd take them in if we didn't have to deal with SIL. That and my wife is 3 months pregnant. If it came down to it, I''m sure the GP's would take them in. I just don't think she'd be willing to give them up. She's way to selfish for that. Situation is effed up.........She may say she knows she needs help......I'm just not so sure she really knows how much.

Well, this heavenly tale may be coming to an abrupt end

Wife broke down and told me her sister had called the other night in need of some help. Apparently, while in transit from one boyfriends home to another, she got pulled over.

Officer asked if she had been drinking? She of course denied any wrong doing(what poor little me?). Officer then led her through a field sobriety test, and told her she had to blow......she scoffed at this, and said no, she didn't have to......but yet still did :wall:

She blew a .31.....that's not a typo. And she still told my wife she didn't feel that drunk.

She proceeded to ask my wife to come bail her out, and to front the cash to get her car out of impound.

After finding out all the details, my wife read her the riot act. You've been given a second chance(old boyfriends family paid her way out of legal troubles) How dare you drink so much and drive, YOU COULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE. Who is watching your kids?(her 12 year old is babysitting his two younger siblings) #### YOU, I will not put myself and my family on the line for you again. You're going to have to call mom and dad, maybe they will be willing to take the kids, because YOU NEED HELP!!!! I WILL NOT BAIL YOU OUT, AND I WILL NOT GET YOUR CAR OUT OF IMPOUND. .....and then she hung up.

Her kids spent the night at home alone, I suspect this happens all the time. But to make this worse, she wasn't there when they got up to go to school.

She has a very destructive behavior. Things are just starting to look up for her....so of course she's got to go out and #### it up.

Did I mention she did this on a Tuesday night?

I hate her.
I hear stuff like this in AA all the time. She'll fit right in.

I guess it's Friday, right? On a side note. I had to stop by the house in the middle of the day recently, and I found my SIL doing, of all things, P90X in my living room. Mind you, this girl hasn't worked out in any capacity since she played high school sports. She was wearing nothing but a torn up old tank top, tight fitting and a pair of my boxers. I asked her what she was doing, she coyly looked down, one hand on her waste, panting lightly...Even though I felt somewhat uncomfortable, I also felt for the first time a bit sorry for her. I held out my hand, she clasped it, lightly. Our eyes met, I pulled her towards me, we kissed. It was exhilarating, blood shot thru my whole body like a cannon, I was instantly full, pressing tightly against her warm, moist body. So very taboo, but feeling so very right. The moment I've dreamt about since the day my wife introduced us.

Her lawyer will suggest it to make it plausible that she can get her conditional license but if she doesn't want to be there....

You can't do P90X while drinking a beer

First offense, in MA, the JUDGE would most likely sentence her to attending X number of meetings per week. They get a card they have to have signed off and bring back to the powers that be. Take it for what it's worth, but it's not uncommon to hear a story told in which someone didn't realize they wanted sobriety until they were sentenced to AA by the judge... it does happen, and it happens more than most people realize. But I will admit it is a huge minority that really get better that way. Still, force-feeding of the 12-step program via the courts has helped enough people that it's worth a shot, especially for first-time offenders.

Even if it is a first offense, blowing a .31 is a felony everywhere I know; just so the lawyer could start knocking it down to a misdemeanor, they would have her go. I am all for her getting into AA, by any means necessary, but rock-bottom is where the final success usually happens, I thought. she sounds like she could use a drying out period to reassess her life.

If you look at the details of the photos on that page they are all from 2009.
Weird. Isn't it possible that's the time stamp on the camera? They have them listed by weeks up to last Monday.
1/10/09 to 1/13/09 seems to the the date on all of them. I'd assume that's the camera timestamp. You'd think a police camera would have a correct timestamp.

I am the first to admit Zow, that I am not a DWI lawyer but in NYS that level is considered aggravated; while it may not always be a felony the BAC is taken into account and hers doesn't look good. Would her lawyer suggest a trip to AA before the court requests it?

I hear ya and definitely that is a high BAC, it's just in the jurisdictions I'm aware BAC usually doesn't correspond to a potential felony charge (usually you have to have a prior(s), have a suspended license, have kids in the car, hit someone, refuse the blood test, etc.). In AZ her BAC would net her 45 days minimum in jail and I imagine most states allow for more jail time for the higher BAC - just may not be the difference between a felony and a misdemeanor. Also, if she were my client I'd definitely tell her to start AA. Could only help with plea negotiations, applying for her restricted permit, etc. (note: the potential benefits are also very state specific). It would also probably do her some personal good.
