Unresponsive Owners (1 Viewer)

Not asking for rule changes or anything of that nature. I too work a full time job, days and nights (12 hour swing shifts). Yet I am able to be contacted at all times and will more than likely get back to you within 30 mins of attempted contact. I just think a simple reject or accept is not to much to ask. One of the Owners i am trying to trade with is the son of the Commish. I told the commish that his son had a trade offer, as well as emailing the owner. I unlike the owner am in the SAME division as the Commish, maybe he told him to ignore it in fear of strengthening my already strong team, who knows.

But i will say i am trying to acquire Trich in this league also and yes I was/am trying to take advantage of a possible mental lapse of the owner. In hopes he did not see the trade done and would quickly swipe up my offer. That's part of the game though and feel no guilt in playing the system lol.
So you were trying to get Richardson in a trade before the other owner knew he went to Indy, and you're annoyed that he didn't respond? Maybe he's annoyed that you think he's so dense that he would not know about the biggest news in the NFL and figured "F_ _ _ him, I'm not even going to bother to reply."

I know that when I get ridiculous offers, I like to pretend I'm interested, and throw out ridiculous counter offers, until the other owner thinks we have a deal, then I tell them that I've changed my mind.

Don't try to take advantage of other owners, and maybe they won't ignore/mess with you.

You two hit it on the head. Honesty I sent the Trich owner a #### deal. A mangled Bush and a unproven Josh Gordon. But hell if he would have got back to me I would have been willing to deal spiller and some other WR on my team. I like trading, it's part of the experience. But I damn sure ain't gonna sell out on the first offer.
But you were trying to pull a fast one on him. hoping you wouldnt have to give up spiller or a better wr.
YUP.... I mean come on, lol. You never show your hand, no matter what. I won't refute I was trying to pull a fast one, because I was and have already admitted to it. But this morning after sitting for two days I pulled it. Not because I realized it was wrong but I am now re evaluating a new trade for him.

Some of you act like you have never haggled with another owner. Someone ALWAYS comes out on top in these trades. And I do my way to make sure it is me 90% of the time. I'll take a loss if I know I can flip the player for a gain next but every deal I'm going in to get the most bang for my buck....

The courteous comment was more or less general answer. Yes i was/am trying to pull one over, and would not have felt bad one bit if he had accepted immediately. Why? Because i have things set to my electronic devices to make me aware of such situations. I am not responsible for each owners knowledge of their players, only mine and the ones I wish to acquire. Ya'll act like ya'll have never tried such a move. It's part of the game, if you are an irresponsible owner and don't keep track of your players and grab the bait I have dangled in front of you, not my problem.
Yeah I'm with ya but you can't really complain about a lack of response to your attempt to "pull one over" on a guy. It's not like you sent him a legitimate trade and he was just ignoring it. Hell, he very well could have known about the Indy/CLE deal and didn't respond b/c he was on to you.
I can respectively agree with that. It's not like I offered him something he COULDN'T pass up. Was simply R.Bush/J.Gordon for Trent. By far a trade leaning in my favor, but could very well back fire with the new O trent is going to.

I think offering a weak trade offer to another owner hoping he had not yet heard the news about a movement of one of his players (to a new team he would have likely been very excited about) while perfectly legal is also totally lame. That probably wouldn't go over very well in my league. Also even if that deal goes through, is anyone ever going to want to trade with you again?
As far as wanting to trade with me again... Could really care less, there are only a handful of trades I do every year. This would be THE ONE i want. I just picked up J.Jones and gave up T.Smith/D.Richardson which everyone thought was an "Even Trade". I also grabbed Tate as SOON as i heard Foster was having back trouble so the Foster owner couldn't use him. Like I said, its part of the game and some of us will make slick/ shark like moves and some of us try to play a fair game and be nice when offering trades. I paid my $50 to go and put together the best team possible to win the league. If I ruffle feathers while I am at it, sorry I don't have a conservative mentality. I paid to play and play to win.... nothing more nothing less. I have fun doing it this way and it has worked for me thus far.
I'm not sure you know what "slick/shark live moves" means. Taking advantage of people who don't understand that Julio Jones is worth more than Torrey Smith and Daryl Richardson doesn't make you a "shark," nor does playing in a league where Ben Tate was just laying around on the waiver wire.

A lot of times, people get frustrated for lack of response because they fail to realize not every league member is perched on their computer eagerly awaiting the reception of a splendid trading opportunity. Some owners check in once a week just to set their lineups and others may not even be that involved. The point being if you want active trade members or responsive league mates, then find a league that is like that. I was in a similar situation -always wondering why I couldn't get any repsonses until I realized thta the league was extremely laid back and trade adverse. Their lack of response was not an attack on me - it was just that they viewed it as a hobby not a profession. That rubbed off on me - and now i spend less time worrying about how to make my team better in any other way than through the WW. Sure if a trade is offered I will respond - but I don't hold others to the same standard and quite frankly I seldom even send out trade offers anymore because I know they are not likely to be responded to.

I feel so sad after reading that. Thanks for ruining my Friday :hot:

I am in a dynasty league where I deal with this crap all the time... one owner didn't even sign on once for like 2months during the off season. I ended up making a Facebook group for all of the owners so we could talk on there... everyone is so attached to social media and they check their fb page hundreds of times more than their fantasy page... one owner is still pretty non responsive, but his team is so terrible I don't really want any of his players!

So your #### deal gets ignored and you come here to whine about? Great work
I consider low ball offers an insult and usually just reject or don't respond.

This. No answer is still an answer. The answer is either "I don't really follow this too closely," or "Your offer is so ridiculous that 'reject' doesn't cover it." In many cases it's the latter.

Trying to trade with some owners in one of my leagues but neither one is responsive. Have sent emails and texts about trades and nothing. One trade simply expired with no response so I resent. Any of you have ways of dealing with this? I'm simply looking for a Yes/No from the owners lol.
You could alway :GASP: pick up the phone and call. Little human intereaction never hurt anyone.

Agreed. That sucks.

I think we need a new forum - one in which you can troll for leagues and state your personal stance on how active you'll truly be.

I consider myself a pretty active owner, but I never respond to offers like that with more than a reject button. It's a sign to me that our values of players would be so far off that there's no point even beginning negotiations.

agree. I am fairly active with my teams as well, (it helps that emails come right to my phone). And I try to work out a deal with the owner thru emails. And if I am on the fence about a deal, or not a fan, tell them what your not a fan of something. If you really dont like the deal or arent sure, I'll just say I'd rather sit tight for now.

I try to give a timely response but life does get in the way for people whether its a money league or not. and If a owner trys to pull an ebaker on me, I would make him stew for a while or just hit reject and remember for the future to not try to work with them

I work with the guys in this particular league. Crossed paths with him today... He simply has not been on.... Since the draft... Which makes since after zero waiver moves and such.

Point taken, good discussion going on here. Albeit I am the whipping post, good so far. Gonna follow up when I get off work.

I can't comprehend why this bothers people.

The other person saw the offer. If their answer was yes, it would've been accepted. What do these one word or one line responses do for you? Nothing.

Not sending you a response does not entail they are inactive or inattentive. It's not all about you. For all you know they check their team page every five minutes.

Telling the commish someone has an unanswered trade offer is going way overboard IMO.

Your sole goal with trading should be to improve your team. Haranguing people about this or telling the commish doesn't serve that goal and probably undermines it long term.
A simple no would be nice. Making someone wait when you know you don't like their offer is just lazy and rude. You basically eliminate any possible trades with that person in the future.

For the other case, if it takes you more than 2 days to acknowledge a trade offer with a yes or no answer then FF is entirely too much for you. Get a less taxing hobby.

To expand on your statement, yes, the point of trading is to improve your team. I believe that turning any trade in YOUR favor is the best way to improve your team. Unless of course you are building depth within your team. But IMO I'll take a 1-2 week slump with a possible upside with the WW Fun Bunch. The frustration comes more from lack of communication rather than lack of willingness to trade.

I know it depends on the league and specific offers but I don't really understand this idea of throwing out a ####ty offer as a first step, then working up to the most you will give up. I always take a lot of time to think about my offers and looking at the other team's needs and the offer I send is the offer. No game playing or pseudo negotiation from a joke starting point. I think you have to respect the other owners in your league and give them some credit. If I receive an obviously rubbish offer it certainly doesn't make me want to enter into negotiations.

Exactly. I'll try to send something that I feel favors me but would be enticing to them. I have WR depth, they need WR's, I'll send my WR2 or 3 along with a RB 3 or 4 for one of their top 2 RBs. See where it goes.

If I receive an insulting offer though, I'm more inclined to send an insulting one back rather than just ignore them. Sends the message and doesn't waste anyone's time.

Once in high school, there was this chick I liked. I made a bunch of notes asking her if she liked me. I even made a box for YES and a box for NO so she could just check the right one.

She never answered.

:kicksrock:

Get over it. They dont want to trade.

Peace

This might be the worst analogy for anything ever compared in the history of comparing things.

I saw this thread a couple of days ago and have been meaning to post something. Sorry for not responding sooner, but yea, I hate when that happens.
