US Men's National Team (14 Viewers)

Pepi with a late brace to overcome a 1-3 deficit I to a 4-3 lead!!!

Here are both goals. Non bangers but still both are pure goal scorer type goals.

I actually really like both of those goals. The first was quite athletic, the second one quite cute to get something on it. Both showcase his ability to make something out of low xG chances.
Totally. And he makes both look easy.

The first.. I mean, it's classic eredivisie defending leaving him totally solo near the spot despite numbers back, but like you say- the athleticism to get to and perfectly direct that volley was great.

The second is the second time recently he's done that little chip over the gk dribbling to his right- really really nice skill and goal.

What's great too is that he's been scoring all manner of goals from all manner of positions- volleys, darting run and tap ins, driven from outside the box, headers. That range is quickly putting him compared to our elite historical goal scorers... Really hoping his next move supports this continued growth.
Has he hit any screamers from 18 yards? I would love to see that too.

Pepi seems to be able to find seams and space well. I think it's his best attribute as a forward. That and a desire to put in work for every minute he's on the field. Strong desire and effort.

He's not hitting rockets per what I've seen, but he's hitting them in from outside the box- low and driven into corners

damn, that loan sounded tasty

Bryan Reynolds has drawn interest from Swiss side, FC Basel. Early steps in process. Additionally, Westerlo rejected a loan offer from a top-3 Eredivisie club. The loan would’ve included a purchase option in the summer, but Westerlo is not interested at the moment.
Is the Swiss league better than the Belgian league?

I think Belgium is a higher ranked league by UEFA.

But the teams are much different in quality. Westerlo is fighting relegation and FC Basel is fighting for league title and Champions League spot.

Reynolds has had his fill of being on the back foot, it might behoove his career to get on a team where he can attack more liberally.

Reyna on the bench today. That's mildly disappointing.
Given our guys re recurring them of- nice play for a couple games... Hurt... Recovery... Back to playing... Nice play for a couple games... Rinse/repeat- I'm all for giving these guys starts and then rest/sub work as needed or possible. Milan threw CP into back to back 90+ min games in the same week back from injury, and of course he's out again as a result (at vs Juve). I said after the 2nd game that it was amazing he was fit enough to do that, and of course he's hurt in the 3rd game.

Oh for ****s sake Tolkin……are you kidding me?

On phone so can’t link but the dingbat has already forced his new team to put out a ton of fires because of what he did on social media.

How the **** does his agent not make it utterly clear that you can only screw up your career using it???

What a ****ing moron.

Holstein Kiel have had to go into damage control mode after their new American signing on his social media, “liked” several dubious conspiracy theories & statements related to COVID, the shape of the earth & gender identity

Tolkin was forced to issue one of those some one else wrote the apology apology statements, "I am sorry you were offended blah blah blah"

I don't get how these teams who sign players don't do even the smallest amount of due diligence. To have to deal with this one day after his signing must just drive the teams sponsors crazy.

What kind of answer does not include something about the Swiss league having more holes (or something to that affect)???

Ironically a swiss cheese defense is more in tune with The Netherlands :)

Sounds Gouda to me

The earliest we could try this would be likely this summer and highly dependent on Dest getting back to 100%

=========================

.............................................Turner

..........................McKenzie.....Ream.........Richards

Dest.......................Adams,,,,,,,,,,,Weston......................Jedi

.......................Tillman.........................Pulisic

............................................Pepi

Notes:

Ream and Adams largely responsible for distribution out of the back

Adams stays home all the time, Weston can move forward to be a linking player

Jedi and Dest entirely responsible for providing the offensive width

Pulisic has more freedom to roam than Tillman. Specifically Pulisic will be expected to crash the box as he is already want to do

Weah can fill in for Dest if needed (I trust Weah more than Scally in this spot, Scally has not shown enough offensive instincts IMO)

Tessman and Johnny can help out in the middle of the 4

Weston can slide into the Tillman role. Ideally (and unlikely) a return to full playing power for Gio would do nice in this role as well

If the team is fortunate enough to be in the lead late and want to close up shop, this folds easily into a 5-3-2. I would sub out Pepi for Sargent, and Tillman for a worker (maybe one of the Aaronson's).

The iron man Jedi went 90 minutes again. He continues his 100% minutes played streak this entire season.

Only 5 players in the entire league have managed to do this. 2 of the 5 are goalkeepers.

This is rough viewing.

Broadcast wants to show closeups instead of the live game or replays.

Ref letting lots of bad tackles go as just fouls.

And that's before watching out of form MLSers mis touch everything in slow motion.

Did they find #20 hanging out in the parking lot? This guy shouldn't be near a soccer field, let alone for the USMNT.

I must say, there have been some decent balls into space. Much better on the counter than I expected. Still a bit lost trying to manufacture in front of goal.
yes, I noticed the same thing. These January camps are usually full of ugly play but there have been some intelligent and quickly played balls.

McGlynn has very good vision and the willingness to hit a difficult pass.

I have to say it is really impressive to steal a pk attempt from the best ball striker in the entire program and then hit a total crap pk.

I am a bit disappointed in Poch not assigning a dedicated pk taker to avoid such a dysfunctional look.

:lmao: :lmao:

- Miljevic lives up to expectations as a puzzling callup. The last time he played a game, he was subbed out at HT. Then angry about it, he yelled at his coach and teammates and left the stadium before HT was over. His club promptly declined his option

I hope McGlynn does not end up one of these players where we can't understand why no one in Europe seems interested when US players at half his talent level are able to make the move.

And now Ag... Ok then
He's a handful.

It's hard to tell if he's legit fast, because he looks lumbering.. but then runs past people.
he is very clumsy looking but it seems to work for him.
He makes really good runs...diagonally and showing.

He, jack, miles...all made me want to see them again.

Not sure about Cremaschi as a holding mf. He flashes some genuinely nice ideas in attack, but not so much when in front of the back line.

Djorgi looks smart on and off the ball, but super rusty.

The wings...Clark and Gutierrez? Not ready.

Luna in for the lunatic would have been very interesting.
