They're certainly right that the old guys never really won anything of substance.
But it's apples and oranges in terms of the resources they had and the state of the US game at the time.
The part that rings true the most for me is they are doing it mostly for clicks. If you notice, very few from the old timers bash the current players unless they are trying to push a podcast and/or social media.
You rarely if ever hear a strong criticism from DMB, McBride, Cobi, Jozy, Stewart, Bradley, Keller, Cherundolo, Hejduk, Bocanegra, Balboa, Pope etc etc.
The "do it for clicks" crowd follows the tried and true formula to have as strong a take in only one direction as possible to create the most engagements possible. They are probably thrilled that Pulisic and Weah went on record with their thoughts as it will just feed what they are looking for.
