US Men's National Team (10 Viewers)

Anybody else going to the game on Saturday?

Let me know if there's anything youd like me to specifically keep an eye out for.
anybody?

I'll be trying to watch off the ball linkup and movement on the wings and CMF as well as how the forward is getting used (and moving). just general shape stuff that I don't get to see on TV.

Just no way I could justify it with the prices and the roster they called in.

Also running out of Golf weekends.
I think i paid 80 per ticket the day they were available.
By the time I looked, they were all "authorized re-sale" and the cheapest seat was 180.

Honestly, its more about the roster. I'm not giving them a dime until we prove we're a serious program that calls in the right players.
And i bet there will be empty seats because of the freaking resale bots.

I bought way before the roster was announced. Still excited to see what they do, but annoyed this is once again not a real team...especially in the MF

I don't want you to look for anything specific but after the game, I would love to hear your thoughts. Any off the ball stuff we don't see on TV would be welcomed.

Fabrizio posted that Dest to Juventus was being discussed in the back ground but nothing came of it.

I just want Dest to stand pat, ball out this year for PSV and then he will likely have his pick of many clubs if he plays well in the World Cup.

I am excited to hear your report on Seb and how well he looked playing.

Obviously a pretty low tempo and energy match, (so I'm not gonna go nuts over any of the highlights) but that's not the point. The talent is there. He needs minutes and the right situation. He needs to show consistent effort and a good attitude.

If that happens, things should hopefully take care of themselves by the end of the season
There were times when he seemed to have more space than you'd expect, but that turn in his own six-yard box under pressure was so sweet. There's like one guy in the history of the pool I'd expect to make that play. And OK, that other guy is Darlington Nagbe, but Gio's turns are gorgeous that entire video. Just constantly making space and time for himself.

No Richards today

=====================

..............................Freese

Dest...........Blackmon........Ream...........Arfsten

.....................................Adams

......................Luna....................Sebbbbbb

Weah.........................Sargent.........................Pulisic

Richards is available as a sub so I don't quite know why he is not starting......
Poch has called this camp a last chance saloon on evals. Part of evaluating fringe players should be to interweaving them with guys that are pretty much locks.

I assume Richards will start next match potentially with Banks (but maybe Blackmon). That allows Ream and Richards to each take a game off.

Absolutely insane to me that we're less than a year from the WC and our A team is starting a 29 year old defender who I had never heard of until last week

I guess we won't know for sure what the A team is until next camp, if Poch is still publicly stating he is in evaluation mode.

I am trying to remain calm and tell myself that adding Jedi, Richards, Tillman and Weston to this lineup would change the feel of it immensely for me.

This is what happens when you "experiment" with inferior talents 9 months from a world cup.

We should be playing our best guys and building a system, not auditioning MLS lifers.

Embarrassing

I mean, both Seb and Adams were caught in no-man's land there. I don't think it's the players. The lines are not organized. The MLS players don't know where they're supposed to be, but neither do the European-based players. I honestly don't know what they're working on with defensive shape. It's shocking coming from a PL coaching staff.

I'm struggling to remember the last time I thought our team was as bad as its been since Poch took over. It's not the results, it's the terrible play and disorganization. Game after game.

I blame Gio and Weah.

Offensively, both Dest and Luna have been good. Not getting any where near enough from Weah and Pulisic.

The two DM’s and two CB’s for the US are extremely out of sync. SK should just attack down the throat time and again.

they also can't pass progressively or show. We can't play Adams with Berhalter again. It's putting way too much of a heavy lift on Ream to distribute and we are forced to the edges or deep through the middle.

As disjointed as the defense looks, that's fixable. The offense is non-existent.

Feel like I’m watching a different game than some of you. While the defense has been terrible seems to me like we’re creating plenty of opportunities attacking. The only attacking player who’s really contributed nothing at all is Sargent. And I thought Luna was way too cautious, consistently passing backwards as soon as he touched the ball, until he got more aggressive late in the half.

The best part after all of this experimenting is it’s going to be the exact roster this thread would have come up with 6 months ago.
We needed to find a replacement for Ream, a back up for Jedi and some general depth, and then get almost everyone healthy.

I don’t think we did great on any of those.

I thought the US started "OK' on offense. At times, Dest has given them things one on one. But the contrast is just so stark because Korea is getting easy entries between the CBs, and the US seems to have no idea how to break down two lines of four unless a guy is winning a 1 v 1 on the flank.

This. ^

They look like a bad team for sure.
Boring. Unaggressive. Tentative. Unorganized.

South Korea more energy and not tentative at all. Look very organized.

Who else we got to pick from sitting in the wings that should be playing!?
