“Tillman's performance in this game was not good, at all. Compared with almost every game last season for PSV, he didn't look engaged or locked in. Weird

- 1/9 in duels, 12 completed passes, 4x dispossessed, yanked in the 51st minute”
He played in CL before, right? and Copenhagen isn't Man City, PSG, Pool, Bayern, Barça, Real level talent here. Maybe just and off day. Glad he started and glad they got a point.

He was PSV's talisman in the CL last year.

Swag started on the bench. 1-1 at the half ina game they must win against a bottom team. Well see if he gets aubbed in to turn things around

AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri on Christian Pulisic:

“I think people call him the LeBron James of soccer?

He’s leveled up now. He’s Michael Jordan.”
Nobody calls him that, Max.

Adam’s, Pepi and dest all starting. Musah on bench. Cardoso inactive.
Dest gave up a pk.
Pepi had a header from 5 yards saved (well saved, but shouldve been buried). And later completely whiffed on a ball put back across the 6 that youd expect him to finish. (He swung anna missed it).

Psv defense was abysmal. They scored in the 82nd minute to go ahead, and then stood around picking their noses while ajax ran right through them to tie it up later.

"After his two goals Saturday, Pulisic has 59 while playing for Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea and Milan. He surpassed Clint Dempsey (57) and Roy Wegerle (55) for the most by a U.S. men's national team player while playing in Europe's top five leagues."

Dest is starting to worry me.

Hes defending like a training cone. And then trying to do way too much off the dribble in bad spots.
He's playing like he did at AC Milan, which was so bad they ate €5M and didn't pick up their option to sign him permanently.

Pulisic, Tillman, Adams, and Tessman all were named man of the match in their most recent games. Richard was named to EPL team of the week in one of the ratings systems.

Agyemang got a good run this past weekend playing the whole second half for Derby. If Poch brings three strikers, the 3rd one is likely to come out of the Championship (Haji, Sargent, orAgye)

Ive been a vocal Sarge backer...for the things he does well, not for the things we all know are his shortcomings. Hes got a full bag of usefulness, especially if he can score goals.

I like Haji going back to yute days. His play for club feels a bit one dimensional and difficult to translate usefully to country.

But i have higher hopes for Ag if he can learn fast and stay healthy this season. He offers a physical skillset (still naive) that Pepi and Balo dont, and to me- with that upcoming development- would be a more useful option as the third striker than Sarge or Haji. Fingers crossed for the guy this season.

this recovery is going slower than I hoped. I would not be shocked if he has to miss the Oct friendlies if they are moving this slowly with him. Hopefully things go well today and they can build on this.

Fulham manager Marco Silva has said Antonee Robinson is likely to feature in Tuesday's Carabao Cup third round tie against Cambridge.

Robinson was held out of the matchday squad for Saturday's 3-1 win against Brentford. The U.S. men's national team left back is continuing to work his way back to full fitness after undergoing knee surgery in May.

There were some fears the 28-year-old may have suffered a setback, but Silva said at a press conference Monday that resting the fullback over the weekend was part of the plan.

"No it's not a setback, he's come from a surgery and he's a player who needs to be in physical conditions almost perfect because his game comes from his athleticism and all that stuff,” Silva said.

Silva said that Tuesday's game against League Two side Cambridge could be an opportunity to give Robinson some valuable minutes.

"We are going to have another session before the game, and after that we are going to take a decision [on Robinson]," Silva said on Monday.

"Probably it's going to be [Robinson] in contention for the game. That was our aim before the Brentford game to give him some more days to keep working on his fitness and all that stuff, his confidence and to be able to try to have as many minutes as he can tomorrow. It's a chance for him to be involved, yes."

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on Tim Weah:

"The symbol of the victory is Timothy Weah. He started as a left winger against Real Madrid and found himself as a right wing-back [vs PSG]. When you see the efforts he put in, honestly, I tip my hat to him and I tip my hat to the whole team."

Pulisic came in late in Milan's Cup game and scored within 2 minutes of stepping on the field. He's on some ridiculous form right now.

Unreal.
Since Pulisic came to Milan in 2023, the list of Serie A players with more goal contributions among all comps than him is, in it's entirety: Lautaro Martinez (59 to Pulisic's 58). That's the list. And I get that not everyone has stayed in Serie A. And that Leao has had injury issues and whatever. Milan hasn't won anything. All the caveats. Pulisic is a top five attacker in a top five league. There's no other way to interpret it.

He has been. This year, he's already got 5 goals and an assist. And if he had teammates that could finish, he'd have 5 or so assists as well.... in 6 games. 3 of which were off the bench. 4 of which were without Milan's other best player in Leao.

He's taking a step forward right now IMO. I think Allegri... i.e.... having a real coach is a big difference, but he's playing the best football of his career so far this season and that includes the purple patch during the CoVID restart.

Just for reference... he's averaging 1.88 G+A/90 right now, before this goal was added in btw, which is good for 4th in Europe behind Bayern's hat trick hero Harry Kane and the guy playing off him in Serge Gnabry, and Krstovic' who's also had an insane start to his Serie A year at Atalanta.

I doubt he can keep this pace up, but man is it fun to watch right now and his finishing has become so ridiculously clinical. Wish we had a #9 finishing shots at that rate right now.

Well, this is obviously a hot streak. I don't expect him to sustain this. But my point is largely that, against the rest of Serie A, Pulisic has been one of the best attackers in the league since he moved. It isn't just him on a hot streak or even levelling up. It is him producing at an elite level (in a league that admittedly doesn't produce the type of gaudy numbers we see in other top 5 leagues). I don't want to minimize the fact that guys like Salah, Dembele, and Raphaina had similar goal contribution numbers just last season alone. But I made a similar post about Pulisic's numbers compared to other Serie A attackers at the beginning of last season. And while I think he'll always be subject to load management because of his history of muscle injuries, I think he's beyond the point of having to earn the trust of a new manager or something. Anyone who knows the game even a little knows how good he is.

Unreal.
That inside outside run to get inside his man and first to the ball...wub.
I remember when Lampard was talking about teaching CP to arrive late in the box. And I thought, "that's weird, CP isn't a center midfielder." But he really did help Christian add that to his bag. To hold off a bit on committing to where he was going when he was the back post man, and then to get the late run on the defender. Just the worst feeling in the world for a defender when an attacker can cross your face while you're flat footed like that.
