US Men's National Team (10 Viewers)

Did they score ant goals from run of play?
Last I saw, it was 6-1.  The four set piece goals, an own goal from a decent bit of play and (finally!) a clean goal from the run of play with that Kobe Hernandez-Foster kid hitting a long ball over the top to Ocampo-Chavez, who took it easily in stride and beat the keeper 1 v 1.  Ocampo-Chavez is coming off that dominating performance for the Seattle academy at the Generation Adidas cup.  Seems to be (somewhat surprisingly to me) outplaying Ricardo Pepi.

I only catch bits and pieces online.  They don't look super cohesive, which isn't a surprise with a new coach and one minicamp underneath their belt.  Gio Reyna kind of drives me crazy.  Just tries to dribble past everyone.  Hernandez-Foster has been very impressive playing somewhat out of position as a CB.  He's very good on the ball.

personal bump

Maybe the coach puts the positions in a hat and lets WM draw before each game?
I would have to go back and check because they have used numerous formations through out the year, but I believe the only pure positions he has not played is Goalkeeper, and LB.

It has to be incredibly rare that a player in one season ranges from CB, to RB, to DM, to wing midfielder(both sides), to a #10, to a paired striker to finally a lone striker.

To his credit he looks competent in all positions but he only seems to pop when he is used in some sort of #8, box to box, type role.

Duane Holmes started for Derby today in their decider match which they won 3-1 putting them into the playoffs for EPL promotion.

Miazga reportedly had another very good game for Reading as they ended up staving off relegation.  I hope Chelsea sells him to Reading or at least loans him again.

Who am I missing if my criteria are "starter or lots of minutes in a top-4 league, or  very good player in a tier-two league?

Brooks
McKennie
Pulisic
Adams
Yedlin (is he getting enough minutes?)
Steffan (is he good enough to qualify?)
Pomykal (too soon?)

Who am I spacing on?

The Championship in England is every bit as good as MLS in my opinion.

So you can add Holmes, CCV, Miazga, and Robinson.  All have had very strong seasons, making numerous teams of the week etc.

If you list MLS players then our guys in Holland and Belgium probably should be worth a mention (specifically Horvath and Novakovich) although they may not pass the "very good" test.

Yedlin played a ton of minutes this year but not towards the end of the season when he lost his spot.

I wish he stayed healthy this year.

Christian Pulisic stats:

2018/19: 6 Goals 5 Assists 1521 Minutes Goal or Assist every 138 Minutes

2017/18: 5 Goals 7 Assists 3038 Minutes Goal or Assist every 253 Minutes

Ream??

I don't know anything about him but the kid in goal for the US U17's is a monster in size.   The announcer said he was 6'6" at 16.

I watched 3 minutes of that game and saw him make a great scary on ball put back actors the box to an on rushing player who struck the ball really cleanly. Fantastic, strong hand reaction save.

sounds like a tough week for Tab

One of the tougher question to emerge over the weekend and one that will make it tough for Ramos to pick his roster. McKenzie, Pomykal, Aaronson, Araujo, Scott, & Sands all out with uncertain injuries

US is up 1-0 at half over Guat after a difficult angle shot from Yow, on a set piece rebound and play back in.

The US looked better before they scored.  After the goal it was very even.  This game is meaningless for US outside of just getting in some good practice for the first knock out round game.

Streaming or broadcast somewhere?

US wins 3-0.  Ocampo-Chavez finished off the last after a very productive sub appearance.  In the 3 games so far, he has looked much better than Pepi.  It will be interesting to see who gets the most minutes now that the knock out round is starting.

US, Haiti and Mexico were the three teams that went 3-0.

The US plays Guadaloupe and if they win that game, they will play the winner of Panama vs Guat for the chance to qualify for the WC.

Offensively, the US probably is going to need Busio, Yow, Ocampo-Chavez and Reyna all on the field together if they want to score from the run of play in the knock out round games.

thanks for posting this.   You should post it once a month.  I went through and made some updates.  You should review to make sure you agree.
I'm good with whatever you guys feel should be there.  I'd rather see this as a group effort.  I only have 2 conditions:

  1. Omar Gonzalez is not allowed.
  2.  @El Floppo is the only one allowed to update the Nicknames.

Also changing Yedlin to GTFOH in the FFA Depth Chart column.
  I almost deleted the 1 from him, but I don't see how we get away from him unless GB is seriously married to this Adams @ false RB stuff.

FFA Soccer Nerds:  "How the **** did Jose Torres get on this list?"
If all the MLS players are suddenly deleted, I'll know why.

If Adams does not get healthy soon we may not even have the displeasure of seeing Adams at RB again :(

Changes I made to spreadsheet

1) Changed Pulisic's team to Chelsea with loan to Dortmund

2) Switched Kenny's prime and loan team (they were backwards)

3) Changed Konrad's dual nat from Spain to Haiti (not eligible for Spain (yet) )

4) Added Manny's loan team

5) Removed Emmy's loan team

6) Changed Dest's team from Ajax to Jong Ajax

7) Fixed some typo's (and probably added some unknowingly :)  )

8 ) Switched Reyna from NYCFC to Unattached since Dortmund has not officially announced him yet

9) Updated LLanez team to be Wolfsburg

I'm sure there are some new cats missing, but I can't think of any.  I'm reluctant to add many of the U17s, but tempted to add someone like Pepi.

I agree to not add any more U17's.  U20's are fine though IMO as some of them are going to be involved in this cycle.

Seems like NYC sold Lewis to Colorado for “allocation money”.
hope he gets more regular minutes. I have no idea what/who his competition will be there, but have to assume if they made the trade that they have more intention to use him than NYC has shown.

CO is terrible and just sacked their manager after 10 games.  :X
they did too? cincy and co both... and yet, freidel is still doing his thing.

eta: and their suckiness could let Lewis find meaningful minutes.
