That seems kinda harsh. He has to play the ball and it's hit pretty good. He could have held it, but no way it's a slam dunk.I just saw the highlight. Ochoa had no field vision there. He cut off a cross that no one on Panama was waiting for and handed it to a striker from point blank range.

looked to have been fouled, imo. he had position on the defender who tangled into him from the back...and then stepped on his knee.Tecatito gets stepped on accidentally in the process of flopping*
I am unfamiliar if keepers are suppose to be aware of who is on their blind side (shoulder check) or not but there was no one that cross was going to except his own teammates. That seems kinda harsh. Sadly that is what we should be doing with Pulisic but is rarely open enough to actually move forward with the ball unless he tries to turn someone.Like elementary school hoops in ELS. "Hey guys, everyone pass it to Tajon."
USMNT Twitter will be an unstoppable force of nature if he does and plays well.Roger Gonzalez just gave a hint that Pepi may be starting.
watching on my phone, so I very well may be wrong. but he definitely got position on the defender, cutting across in front of him...then looked for the contact, which came.I could be wrong but I didn't see any "tangling" when they showed the replay. It looked like he "fell" from the soft nudge in the back. I don't think there legs actually got tangled at all until he was most of the way to the ground.
two big ifs, but man that would be fun to watch (assuming a win comes along with it).USMNT Twitter will be an unstoppable force of nature if he does and plays well.
US Soccer does not hold the TV contract for the away games. The TV contracts are held by the home team (Honduras in this case).I'm sorry but I'm pissed that I have to watch this game in Spanish. Are the NFL or CFB playoffs on pay TV? US Soccer screwed the pooch. These games should be on regular TV if you want to continue to grow the sport here.

To be fair - you can turn the sound off and then you can watch in English...

3 in the back AND 2 strikers. oh my.
wait, I forgot Brooks....not sure how this will line up
..........................Turner
.............McKenzie......Sands.....Robinson
Acosta......................Adams......................Bello
................................Pulisic
...................Sargent...........Pepi
==============
something like that? Not sure about Acosta in that role (unless its Adams maybe with Acosta at the 6)
What about Acosta as a right back and Bello as a left, with Adams and Sands in a double pivot?not sure how this will line up

I screwed up and forgot Brooks in my excitement. Check the link I put from Ives, I think he has its close to what it should be although Sargent on the right is strange. What about Acosta as a right back and Bellow as a left, with Adams and Sands in a double pivot?
Ives says 3-4-3.3-5-2?
I like Brooks in the middle. It protects him from getting isolated in this set up.Yeah, looks like MAYBE.....
Turner
McKenzie Brooks Miles
Acosta Sands Bello
Adams
Sarge Pepi CP
Or maybe Adams playing as almost a sort of 10 with CP as a withdrawn striker?
Either way, it seems like they're gonna be hurting for width in a big way. Acosta doesn't bring it and Bello doesn't seem to be anything special on offense either.
Or this is the "Adams as a right wingback" experiment again with Acosta as the 8/10 (yikes)
This certainly falls into the "trying something" category. I'll give them that.
It's what the guy from The Athletic suggested yesterday. He must be plugged in.I don’t know whether to laugh or cry, but that’s a crazy formation and I hope it works.

I chuckled at this too. Hopefully this catches Honduras a little off guard and they are doing what all of us are doing right now in trying to fix the puzzle together. This certainly falls into the "trying something" category. I'll give them that.
I do hope this was kind of the plan all along and not just a knee jerk/panic type thing.
