US Men's National Team (19 Viewers)

I get the fox in the box piece, but he's a giant next to El Chich.
It's his movement and spacial awareness, in the box and on diagonals- he seems good at getting just off the defenders shoulder and finding pockets of dangerous space. I'm clearly not comparing size or haircuts.

LONDON (AP) — Fully vaccinated players will now be able to travel to World Cup qualifiers in countries on England’s red list without having to fully quarantine on their return, enabling them to directly return to action with their clubs.

A bespoke quarantine exemption was announced Friday after being agreed between the Premier League, the government and the health authorities.

People arriving in England from countries on a red list due to high coronavirus risks are usually required to quarantine for 10 days in a government-approved hotel. That meant many players missed out on playing World Cup qualifiers in South America in September, while others still went but then returned via spending 10 days in Croatia which ruled them out of games for Premier League clubs.

Who does Pepi's game remind you of?

Size, movement, skills, types of goals -- who do you think his comps are?

The highest of all high end comps is Lewandawski both physically (same size, narrow body type) and hopefully skill set wise (ability to find space in the box, finish with head, feet, etc).

Ok, so I was going to put this down but didn't want to get laughed at.

But.....yes.

Ricardo Pepi update

- #UCL Bundesliga club say they're willing to do "everything possible" to get Pepi

- Ajax talks still set to begin "imminently"

- Serie A club to lodge an opening bid in the coming days

If I click my heals and say "Please be Dortmund, please be Dortmund", can I will it to happen?

U.S. National Team legends Carlos Bocanegra, Steve Cherundolo and Christie Pearce Rampone will be officially inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame tomorrow!

Ooooh...hope so!
He's actually a tough comp.  Today's CF seem to either be bigger physically (Haaland/Lukaku ish), smaller with a lower center of gravity, or similar body type, but more wingy how they like to play.  I guess another one would be Firmino, but he's not as tall as Pepi.  Maybe someone like Cavani though he seems like someone the play goes through more.

I'm probably not describing this well, but both Lewandawski and Pepi strike me as guys that you go "where'd he come from" when they score and then you watch the playback and everything they did to get to that point is close to flawless (which is where the Chachi comp comes from as well).

He's also like half a midfielder, maybe even more than a false #9.

Kane and Lewa were the first two I thought of in terms of dreamland guys with kind of similar overall packages.

(in before...)

I think a decent Pepi comp might be someone like Huntelaar.  He was above average, if not world class, at a lot of things.  But his best ability was just that he was good at sniffing out chances.  That's what I see in Pepi.

Rampone withdraws her name until next year due to the disaster going on right in the NWSL.

The Commissioner and lead counsel for NWSL were terminated today for their part in the cover up.  And this is just the beginning I think.  There has to be an owner in here some where who knew what was going on especially when Merrit Paulson said they shared all their findings with the league when the fired the guy.

This is essentially Luís Suárez's game now. He's too slow to beat a defender and his ball skills have dwindled, but damn if he doesn't know where to be and how to finish.

I'd like to see Roldan start against Jamaica. He's been excellent for us as a sub, but he's on fire right now. I'm feeling really really good about this window.

Scally went the full 90 again and scored in a 3-1 win over Wolfsburg.  He played on both sides of the field.  I believe this was his first professional goal.

I won’t be surprised if not bringing in Scally is going to come back to bite us this window at some point.
He solves so many problems with his ability to play both sides equally well.

It would not shock me if he ends up being the #1 rb for the US before qualifying is done.

Just so odd to not call him to at least integrate him this time for the reasons you state.

The rationale Berhalter provided of him lacking CONCACAF experience and not being part of the group can't be rectified until/unless he calls him into a camp.

And as TLEF points out, Moore is such an odd choice given he's not playing, is unlikely to be anything more than an emergency option, and isn't really the future either.
