US Men's National Team (6 Viewers)

What non-US players are there?

Salloi for Hungary.  I don't know if Edison Flores has been healthy (this is sad because I literally see him occasionally drop his kid off at my sons' school), but he plays for Peru.  Obviously, tons of CONCACAF guys.  Pizarro for Mexico.  Burke and Kemar Lawrence for Jamaica (and Blake of course). Roldan junior for El Salvador.  A bunch of Canadians, like Buchanan and Laryea..

I feel like RBNY has a bunch of guys from random teams like Finland, Bulgaria, Moldova... wherever they can get just-ok players on the cheap.

Buska started for Poland last window

Note that the 136 is only related to players who actually played in the qualifiers, not for any general call up but did not play

I was just listening to a Jamaican preview and it looks like two of their best players who were originally rostered have been removed.

Their best defender Ethan Pinnock (Brentford) and their best all around midfielder in Daniel Johnson (Preston) have both been removed from the roster and will not play against the US.  I believe injuries are the issue.

sounds like their midfield is going to be a huge issue over all in quality and the guy doing the preview just kept hammering the point that they have no one.  He mentioned there was another player who would have started in midfield that is staying on the roster that won't be allowed to play against the US due to some issue when he arrived (I assume protocols but he did not specify).

I would love to see Adams, Weston and Musah boss the game but I strongly doubt GGG will start the three together tomorrow.

Fillipo from Tactical Manager predicts GGG will start this group

===============================

........................................Turner

Yedlin...........Zimmm...................Robinson...............Dest

.......................................Adams

.......................Weston.......................Acosta

Arriola...........................Zardes...................................Aaronson

While this would not be my 11 for a single game, I do understand that again we are going to see a TON of players used through out the 3 games so I expect three different starting lineups.

I'm sick of seeing Nips.  I think he sucks.

The rest of the lineup looks good to me, maybe somebody over Zimmerman.

Lots of familiar names here for the RSL head coaching job.  It will be fun if Landon's gets a chance.

=================

Jeff Carlisle

@JeffreyCarlisle

Spoke w/#RSL GM Elliott Fall. Said RSL will try to make a decision on manager in "next 10 days to 2 weeks." Added there are 5-6 finalists. He wouldn't ID them specifically, but said they had spoken to: Mastroeni, Donovan, Kreis, Kinnear, Noonan as well as Luchi Gonzalez.

Here is what I consider a very dour outlook (I hope we can do better).  I think this would land us in ~4th place.

The * games is where I think we could sneak out more points than this outlook gives.

======================

5 points already

Win Jam. (8 points)

Lose @Pan (8 points) *

Win CR (11 points)

Lose Mexico (11 points) *

Draw @ Jam (12 points) *

Win ELS (15 points)

Lose @ Can (15 points)

Win Hon (18 points)

Lose @ Mex (18 points)

Win Pan (21 points)

Draw @CR (22 points) *

From my following soccer and reading and experience watching teams that are successful and those that aren't, the CB pairing and experience gained playing together over time is one of the most important things to building a good defense/team over time.

The earlier we can find our duo and get them to stick together along with our GK, the better off we will be. If Robinson and Richards are the future, then let's pair them up as much as possible.

Well, sure.

But the present is, well, you know.  WCQ.  So I think you have to play your best two right now.

And it's not clear IMO.  I think Robinson is an obvious pick just because he's so athletic and hasn't put a foot wrong in six months.

But am I sure that any pairing of Brooks, Zimmerman, Richards and Robinson is materially better than any other?  I am not.

I agree. And I think things will not uncommonly be outside of control based on fitness, availability, etc.

But it seems we've done a lot of musical chairs at that position. It would be nice to have any semblance of stability there. And maybe I'm misremembering.

Michail Antonio out for Jamaica as well.

No Antonio...no Bailey....no Pinnock. Just no excuse for the US not to get 3 points here, even without CP and Reyna

There was a comedy film in 1991 called Necessary Roughness.  It is the story of a Texan college football team that loses all its scholarships due to corruption and has to field a team of misfits.

The teams best wide receiver can't catch passes as they always bounce off his hands.

In a scene, one of the coaches (Robert Loggia) is maniacally screaming at his quarterback "DON'T THROW IT TO STONE HANDS!!!!!!".

I think of this scene every time one of our CB's is on the ball and for no good reason, turns and passes it to Turner.

Well this explains a whole lot of what's been going on.
feels like if the WNT issue is not settled very soon we are going to be limping until 2026 when the coffers can get refilled.

God forbid we don't qualify and get some of the group stage money to help us limp.

What percentage of revenue comes from ticket sales?

What percentage of revenue comes from ticket sales?
very little as there are so few games to really make any difference one way or another.

The majority comes from sponsors and TV.   The new TV deal US Soccer is trying to sign for the first time with out SUM is going to be crucial.

I find it hard to believe there isn't a financial institution out there willing to loan US soccer money knowing that the world cup is coming in 4 years.

I get that its a "non profit" which adds some wrinkles. But the idea that they need to start asking supporters for cash donations seems REALLY weird.

I have been following fairly closely since the late 80's.  I think this is the first time I ever remember them doing this even back when they were nothing but a mom and pop shop in the early 90's.

#USMNT training here in Austin on matchday-1. All 26 players are accounted for. Just warm-ups so far, but Yunus Musah appears to be working off to the side with trainers. Per USSF, Musah had an inconclusive test yesterday and negative test today. Waiting for PCR test result.

For some unexplained reason I loved that movie as a teenager

WELL SURE.

GGG on Musah

======

Awaiting Musah's PCR test results. If cleared, "we want to see him on the field. ... I'm sure over the course of 3 games we'll get to see him"
