I thought he was at Feyenoord on loan. I think they had an option to buy at like $7m so they must have exercised that. Or maybe because it was an 18-month loan with an option at the end this is Feyenoord's way of giving him game time before they make a decision to exercise.

Weird stuff but whatever. Seems like a good move because he wasn't getting a lot of time at Feyenoord. He needs to be playing otherwise he'd have been better of staying in MLS.

I think he is still on loan because I read elsewhere Colorado has to approve this move.

This is like something I would pull on Football Manager, getting a loan of a player already on loan.  Goodness.

There are so many American's in Europe, it is impossible to keep track of any more

Andrija Novakovich has sealed his move to Venezia - moving within Serie B from Frosinone. Novakovich, Tessmann, Leal, DeVries, and Busio are all Americans on the books at Venezia although Busio is likely to be on the move soon.

This only fuels my theory that he will sign with an MLS team right around WC2026

Christian Pulisic: "I want to grow the sport in this country to a level that no one could even believe by the time I'm done playing. I want to continue to inspire the youth, especially in US and I want to have a team that's going to grow and compete with the best in the world."

I think he's been a main-stay on the England U-whatever team, scoring goals and whatnot.

I guess that doesn't mean he won't switch if given a good opportunity- but even though there are a lot of guys in front of him there, he still has to favor his chances given his youth play and just starting to make inroads in the senior pro game.

Gotcha. I don't think he's advanced enough right now to play in the EPL which is pretty much a prerequisite for their national team.

I guess it depends on how much patience he has and how much and how fast he develops. Eddie Nketiah is 23 and started down the stretch for Arsenal. But he just switched to Ghana this summer. And right now, Balogun's trajectory is behind Nketiah's.

Jack McGlynn - what a monster game tonight.

Case in point:  look at this diagonal ball.

PS - he’s 19

I mentioned during the U20 tournament that he stood out as the player with the highest ceiling.  He was awesome tonight against my Revs.

Here is an all touch video

And it goes with out saying that we are in desperate need of skilled left footed players in the program.

There is a chance that out of the entire roster going to Qatar, we may have only 1 natural left footed player in Jedi and as much loved as he is, I don't think any of us would call him a skilled player.

I think the only other left footed player who will be on the margins of the roster is Bello unless Paredes has a massive break through this fall.  I am not expecting either Brooks or Ream to reenter the picture.

I hope this is not tongue in cheek.  This guy was headed to one of the biggest waste of talents in US Soccer history

Owen Otasowie continues to start and impress with Club Brugge in preseason. If he keeps this up he could have a big role to play with the team in the season. Could be a very interesting comeback

I hope it works out for the guy... such a strange story the last year +.

felt like he was poised for big things- had that last second miss for Wolves vs... ? and it's been a combo of slow and bottom-falling out descent since then. I watched a mid-winter break Brugge game on the shore somewhere where he played... did not look... good. even amidst moments where you could see what he was all about. just sloppy/disinterested of thought and body.

still early in the silly season, but after all the early chatter circling Barca needing to offload to in-load... Dest is still around. I wonder what an Az and Marco Alonso insertion mean for him in the squad (if those happen)... do they keep him there to rest/challenge those older legs like they did with Alves?

Not able to watch it myself, but the Twitterverse is full of praise for his performance so far. Brugge leading 1-0.

he has got the two things you can't teach, size and technically skilled feet.   Maybe he matured when he realized how close he was to seeing it all go bye bye?

Keeping fingers crossed.

Massively impressed with Matt Turner tonight. His distribution was exceptional. Knew exactly when to play it short, quick or long. First clean sheet for us too

I missed this story

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Just six days after dismissing Dragan Skocic as head coach, an Iranian Football Federation (IFF) spokesman announced Sunday that the Croatian will lead Iran into November’s World Cup after all.

In the latest episode of a chaotic build-up to Group B games against England, the United States and Wales, Ehsan Osuli said after a meeting of the IFF board of directors that there had been a change of heart.

“The outcome of the meeting is that Dragan Skocic is the head coach of Iran’s national team and will continue to be so,” Osuli said. “He has a contract until the end of the 2023 Asian Cup.”

The federation voted to fire Skocic, who took the job in early 2020, on July 11 after a friendly defeat to Algeria in June and reports of divisions in the team.

Local coaches such as Ali Daei, Javad Nekounam, Amir Ghalenoi and Afshin Ghotbi had been shortlisted to lead Iran past the group stage in its sixth World Cup appearance.

Lots to like here.

He is a great passer but would love to see a hint of selfishness at times when he’s around the 18.

thought the same.

by the time he had that high press, strip the ball and attack the box... the 2 on 3 defenders should have been beat- he had his defender turned completely around. should have driven right to goal and fired off a shot- but looked like he was always looking for his teammate instead.

Alex Mendez scored in Vizela's preseason win over fellow Primeira Liga club Famalicao. Even better was that Alejandro Alvarado continued to start. Alvarado has been exclusively with the first team in preseason and has started half of their matches.

Source: Orlando City SC finalizing acquisition of USMNT forward Nico Gioacchini from French club SM Caen. Free transfer, Caen retain sell on %. Gioacchini, turning 22 this week, has made 8 apps with USMNT. Was on loan at Montpillier last year, but only played ~500 Ligue 1 mins.

I guess this is good. I'm not sure he's USMNT caliber but honestly, I was looking at depth the other day and winger is pretty abysmal after the big four of Pulisic, Gio, Weah, Aaronson and even two of those really aren't wings. Maybe he does have a NT future.

It's really a black hole of a position at the youth levels too as there are very few lottery balls. Konrad, Cowell, and Sealy really need to turn out.

On the other hand, we seem to naturally be developing a roster tailor-made for Jesse Marsch.

And I forgot about Luca Koleosho.

He's a 2004 winger that plays at Espanol and made his La Liga debut last season for them at 17. He's eligible for 4 countries (US, Canada, Italy, Nigeria).

Canada called him up this summer to their senior side (but he did not play) and it seems to be a fight between the two of us. He seems like a high end prospect and we really need him to pick us.

ETA: not the most informative video but here he is in an Espanol friendly this past weekend

Some one made a good point.  It is going to be quite humorous if Orlando sells Gioacchini to another MLS club some day and Caen try to figure out what % of GAM they get :)

One thing to keep track of is that Paredes final position is not yet decided.  He projects to be either a LB or a winger.   He has played both positions in his limited career so far.

oh, this would be a very interesting landing spot

[Florian Plettenberg] Chris Richards: He has a verbal agreement with Crystal Palace. The Bayern defender wants to join them. Now the clubs has to find an agreement. Negotiations ongoing.
