US Men's National Team (28 Viewers)

Canada down to Guadalupe at the half.

:oldunsure:
their roster is arguably an even bigger drop off from their A squad than ours is.
arguably?

We can talk about ours as a dropoff but honestly we roll pretty deep these days. Four years ago, we were running out Johnathon Lewis, Giochinnni, KDLF, and Uly Llanez as wingers. Today, we honestly don't know who is 3 after Pulisic and Weah. Is it Booth, Zendejas, Aaronson, Morris, Arriola, Paredes, Cowell?

You can do this at almost any position (the top two in minutes played in midfield were Yuell and Lleggett ffs). With today's options, even dipping into C territory, Nick Lima and Daniel Lovitz aren't walking through that door.

Canada doesn't have depth even close to ours. I watched the 2h tonight and they are flat out awful. I honestly believe our best U20 squad would beat them.

I will not stand for further Junior Hoillet and Lucas Cavalinni slander.

I mean, Borjan, Vitorio, Kamal Miller, Osorio, the Liams (Fraser and Miller), and Laryea are all names I seem to remember as playing at least some role in the last qualifying cycle.

Now you know why he started to be serious about soccer so late :)

Interesting that he’s hitting lefty.
Nolans comment at the end!
I have seen a bunch of these over the years and don’t remember anyone doing it this well, even guys who played college ball.

Turner looks a bit goofy but he is clearly a fantastic athlete.

The twitter comment about America’s best athletes do play soccer made me chuckle 🤭

They're giving the Women's team the Arthur Ashe Courage Award for their equal pay "fight"
maybe it's me but it clearly looked like a fight.

Their arguments were 100% legally wrong, so they used the media to shame the Federation into a new agreement (costing US Soccer God knows how much money in unnecessary legal fees) allowing them to go back and get a do-over (because they realized retroactively that they would have made more money taking a different deal that they'd been offered)

Basically they used a media-backed temper-tantrum to get themselves a mulligan (and tie their fate to the ascending men's team in terms of future compensation)

I dont see anything courageous about what they did. That's just the way it was framed on twitter.

The only good part of all of this is that FIFA is significantly raising the bonus money for all womens events. As such, the USWNT now have to share this increasing pool with the men. There is a chance they actually cost themselves money in the long run unless the men's results improve at the WC.

Sitting in downtown St. Louis right now. Can see the smoke and haze in the air. Watched it move in at the Cardinals game last night. Forecast is a heatwave will come in this afternoon and push out the smoke. Win/Win!?!?

Looking forward to going to the game with @gianmarco. Sure it's the B team, but there's still a trophy on the line!
I am so jealous of you guys. I hope you have a great time! Are the tickets for both games tonight or were they two different tickets?

The Gold Cup and defections are a life long partner

===================

Jon Arnold

@ArnoldcommaJon

Four Cuban players have left the team after last night's Gold Cup opener in South Florida, per reports from Alexander &
@francysromeroFR. Sando started v. Guatemala, the others didn't enter. They likely will seek to become professional players in the U.S.

One ticket. Two games. Six teams. (Not really six teams, but with T&T and St.Kitts & Nevis I always joke that it is playing two countries at a time.)

Here with @Poke_4_Life , grabbing a drink across the street from the stadium when 2 girls with Coronas offered us free beers if we take a picture with them.
Dear Penthouse Forum...
Nah, they would screw it up:

Corona Girls: Hey guys. If you take a pic with us we will get you a couple of Corona's.

gianmarco: I'm not really a beer drinker. Do you have some BaloGIN?

pole_4_life: hahahahaha. Good one gian. I like beer, but I'd rather have a Samuel ADAMS.

gianmarco: oh my god I'm dying over here. Hey ladies, do you want to meet us later at the hotel? We have some money and we can make it REYNA!!

pole_4_life: you bet we can. we can drink all night until we get pulisick.

gianmarco: "falls off chair"

Corona girls (looks at each other): we need to get miles away from these dorks.

Almost accurate. Almost. Pics coming sometime. Maybe.

Uhh... who is "Jones"

I like this lineup better than the one the other night at least.
Dejuan Jones. LB for NE Revolution. He's played a few games for the US in the MLS windows. Interesting player as he's right footed but regularly plays as a left back. I think we lined him up at Right Back in one of the Cashicos.

I think it is over all better as well but I still can't wrap my head around wasting this game when it was an easy cap tie for Slonina.

I would have preferred Vasquez over Jesus but the last time we played a minnow, Jesus bagged 4 so that may be the thinking...

oh jesus, the US had Argentina and Brazil locked up for the fall friendlies until CONMEBOL changed their schedule. Now those two awesome teams have been replaced by Uzbekistan and Oman..... :sadbanana:

Did the same thing earlier with Celantano, not so much worried about capping him, but sticking Johnson out in front of the kids who are going to be around for the next decade or more doesnt seem productive at all to me.

who is Celantano?
Roman Celentano - Goalkeeper for Cincinnati. He's 22 and starts for the best team in MLS. He now has 46 MLS starts and no one knows who he is.

Btw, I don't really trust GK ratings, but Celentano is the highest rated American MLS GK this year.

And there's only 4 American GKs under 26 that start -- Callender in MIA, Schulte in Columbus, and Brady in Chicago so we really should be talking about Roman more.

I am confused. When did we have a chance to cap tie Celantano? Or did I completely misunderstand @Rustoleum? I thought Roman had only been called up to friendlies..

I don't think he's eligible for anywhere else.

I think the point is we called him for that friendly and then started Johnson when Roman has arguably been better this year (and late last year) playing in the same league and is like 47 years younger. It's just wasting these opportunities on Johnson for no real point.
