US Men's National Team (8 Viewers)

Just hoping Long doesn't do something stupid.

Bummed for Neal. I know he made a couple of little mistakes the other night but he deserves the opportunity to see this one out.
I was hoping too but to be fair they were far more than little errors. Those giveaways turn into easy goals for good teams, of which this version of Canada is not.

Jesus is not really a wide player so I would not be surprised if tactics lead him to pinch in and be more along side Milhailovic and force Reynolds to provide the width.
Looks like Vazquez has played at RW before here, so I'm guessing that's what they are doing?
I guess we will see soon. Vasquez seems like less of a wide player than Jesus though on the surface.

I want the big guy inside to get on the end of crosses, not making the crosses to Jesus who is mostly weak in the air.

JF moved wide when Vasquez came on the other night and Vasquez just seems like more of a pure #9 than Ferreira. But who knows? I do like the front three given how bad the wide players have been. Might as well put some goals on the field and hope for the best.
yeah, I think this is what BGGGJ finally came to realize. They have tried everything else out wide and nothing worked so this is not the worst solution for the time being.

I don't disagree, I was just looking at what they've played in the past. I looked up JF there and he's never played anywhere except up top in the middle.

Either way, I'm guessing there will be some fluidity between the 2. I'll be interested to see if Cowell is up there with them or plays more underneath.

I'm also curious to see how they sort those 3 in the MF (Sands, Busio, Mihailovic). They going to use a double pivot? I don't even know what's the best way to line them up. I just hope there isn't a huge chasm in the midfield where we can't even connect with the 3 up front.

Vazquez subbed in for Milhailovic.

I think when that happened Jesus moved to Milhailovic spot and Vasquez went up top.

Half-spaces says it's my idea from the other night, with Cowell (my ?? for the 4th midfielder) and Mihailovic in front of Sands and Busio -- with Ferreira playing off Vasquez.
I like the lineup and think a fluid 4-4-2 would suit the personnel best.
Yeah, 4-4-2 definitely works.

I just really hope the middle 2 (Busio/Sands) don't turn into a blackhole and send every ball back or to the side. If that happens, we don't have a shot, IMO. They've got to be able to advance the ball up the middle at times or at least be able to threaten to.

Otherwise, Panama can pinch off both sides or just look to defend the inevitable cross coming in.

if it's a 4-4-4, I'm not getting which of Sands/Busio/JGJorjee plays wide opposite Cowell.

7:36... is that the correct time? seems made up.

Is it just me or has Cade Cowell hit the post like 6 times since the start of the U20 world cup? Dude could have massive numbers with just a matter of inches.

US shape a mess through the MF- getting run around easily. and then giving up every second ball.

and Pan has been playing pretty poorly with mis-tuoches and giving up opportunities (that the US wants no part of, apprarently).

we need a c1980 Indiana Univ style swap out of 6 guys at this point. just swap out the entire MF and Forward line outside of maybe Cowell... although he's been poor too.

Dang. Can't get close to them. They're finding space at will. Not exactly lucky to be tied but the US has to play better or they're gonna lose.

After a bright first 10-15 minutes, the US looked cooked for the entire rest of the half. Second best in almost every phase of the game. 0-0 is a lucky scoreline right now. I don't know if we have the legs to flipped this around in the second half.

This lineup and formation has Berhalter written all over it. No way Busio should be out on the wing.

Long shouldn't be in period.

think about how many times their through ball was on, but just hit a bit long for Turner to get to first. I don't remember Turner having to make so many plays in a long, long time

I gotta say- he's not perfect, but Jones has grown in comfort level each game.

Reynolds has been pretty poor today. that clearance on Turner's missed punch... SO lucky and just a millisecond off of high kicking that guy in the noggin instead of just attacking it with his head wide.
