US Men's National Team (6 Viewers)

Sounds like Poch is not happy about the effort in camp... I wonder who is not putting forth the right level? Dest? Scally? Balogun?
This alarmed me.

Poch has been consistent from day 1 saying the players, fans and media all needed to treat the friendlies/Gold Cup as very important games. It was clear in the beginning he was not getting that attitude from any one.

I wanted to hope we cleared that hurdle with the string of good games the team has been playing but his rant seems to indicate he is still very unhappy.

I can't speculate who is not putting in the work in training. From my some what educated eyes, the effort during the games looks to be there though.
The language barrier gets in the way a bit. I actually don't think he's saying anything different than he said last window. About how he can now talk about tactics and game actions and not have to talk about effort and commitment to the team. And he's lamenting that it took too long to get to that point. I don't understand the point of bringing up Pulisic's issue again, but they're going to have to live with each other, so whatever.

**cough** gio.

still looks like he's half-assing off the ball too much of the time. near or on the ball? 100%.
but even Dest was busting his butt out there... so not sure who else it might be, unless people are loafing in training.

and didn't Milan work this out with Poch? I don't think it was a CP dictate.

but yeah... I'm falling for the soundbytes relayed from soundbytes without actually having listened to or read his comments... usually his rants get a comment pulled out, slightly out of context, that implies a much different direction than what the overall vibe is.

FWIW, granted I haven't been following along nearly as closely as I used to, but it sounds to me like he's more pissed with the general friendly attitude in the past. I didn't take it as something happening this camp especially given the player quotes on how physical the camp's been.

As an aside, duels, and especially duels won, keeps coming up in player quotes. I'd really like to know the player stats here. For instance this is aggregate from the Ecuador game:

How the U.S. did that is open to interpretation, but suffice it to say, it's multifaceted. The U.S is at last playing with the kind of energy and desire that manager Mauricio Pochettino demands, as evidenced by the USMNT winning 53.4% of its duels, 73.3% of tackles and 65.0% of aerial challenges. That creates a platform for more effective attacking play. For Pochettino, that development is almost a relief.

Yeah, I was thinking someone like Dest who things his position is locked up and doesn't want to jeopardize his club form would be not going 100% in training.

9 changes in the line up. I am guessing entirely on the formation but I think it may look like this

=======================

................................Freese

.......Freeman..........McKenzie...................Trusty

.Dest...................Morris..........Sebbbb...............Tolkin

......................Luna......................Tillman

......................................Haji

Lol...ok...first of all- that two footed tackle starting things...have to look at that again.

But freaking Free freestyling?? Good gravy that was smooth

Great first half despite the debacle the last minute.

Best they've looked under Poch.

Dynamic and strong on the ball.

The 2nd half is going to be an interesting watch..........
