Because it's the snowball effect.. it's not just the nicer room, then the restaurants are more expensive, the massages are more expensive, the comps are worse, etc.I'd rather stay at a little nicer place and go for the cheaper gambling spots. Not to say anything is wrong with TI... But if you've got the budget for gambling at Venetian, Palazzo, or Wynn (basically $25+ craps or blackjack) then what's an extra $150/night for a nicer room? This is what i enjoyed about it. Sleep at an inexpensive place, use the facilities nearby for whatever else you wanted to.I also enjoyed Treasure Island when I stayed there in January. Room was nice and clean. Casino was fine. Location is the best thing about it as you can gamble at the Venetian, Palazzo and Wynn without paying the higher room rates.Loved the location for treasure island. I think what I liked the most about it was ease of access for the car. I despise having to drive on the strip and I hate when you have to drive up and around 7 floors to get a spot. Treasure island isn't really a target destination for people to drive to and park at so there was always parking easily available on floor three which was really the main floor and first one you enter on. It was really easy to get in and out of to head around town too, no drunk pedestrians to deal with.
Heading out again March 20th. I have never been there during NCAA tourney. Is it as crazy as I have heard? What time in the AM will they open the betting windows?
Having said that I did all my gambling at TI because their blackjack was a $5 table that had 3/2 BJ.. that's rare for the strip
If it makes you feel any better I sprung for the suite at TI.
I'm a ##### though and prefer my bourbon chilled.
