49ers HC Mike Singletary said TE Vernon Davis injured his knee and will undergo an MRI today.

Ok, so now we have Finley out for the season, Gates down with injury, Davis hurting, and Witten not producing very well so far.

So much for those who went TE early in drafts this year?

I'd say Gates owners have been rewarded for drafting him early. Minus this week's stinker, he is still well worth his draft slot...let's just hope he gets better soon.

Davis injured his knee on his TD reception but he was able to return to the game. Maybe just a pre-cautionary measure.

San Francisco 49ers TE Vernon Davis (knee) underwent an MRI Monday, Oct. 18, on his injured knee suffered in Week 6, according to David White, of the San Francisco Chronicle. 'We just want to make sure we're smart about it and get the MRI and make sure everything's stable,' head coach Singletary said.

Any word???

Vernon Davis' MRI came back negative, and he's considered "day-to-day" with a knee contusion.

It's what the 49ers expected, but they had to take all precautions. Davis may be limited in practices this week, but he's fully expected to play at Carolina. In a week with Antonio Gates injured and the Colts, Jets, Texans, and Lions on bye, Davis may be the top fantasy option at tight end.

As a Gates AND Davis owner (non TE mandatory league) - this is great news. Now, if they can only find a way to take advantage of the mismatch nightmares this beast creates I would be really happy. Talk about an underutilized assets.
