i was under the impression that he would declare..sure he can wait a year and be an almost sure top 10 pick.. but i think hes done a lot at Texas as it is.

Id be surprised if he left if they lose to USC, but I dont discount the possibility of anything anymore regarding undergrads.

that site has a cool mock draft section. Good read...

He posted the most accurate mock on the net in 04, and did an excellent job last year too. Understand he doesn't predict trades, but he also doesn't expect D'Brick to be #1 overall. He lists him as the first choice of the Texans, who he expects to move down to get him-- making Dufresne very happy.

I would imagine that Young is trying to get an early prespective of where he is going to be drafted and if teams are looking at him as a QB.I think when he finds out his answers he will stay at school.

Not a qb? Has there been talk of him being used as a wr in the nfl?

Not by anyone with a perspective based in reality.

He'll be a top 10 pick this year.

that's what I was thinking. he may be top 5 after he works out.

He has the highest passer rating in the NCAA. Like every QB he's been hot and cold, but the accuracy issue was put to rest against Ohio St. early in the season. Some seem stuck in opinions from last year and this preseason. He has a very strong arm, he makes very tough throws, he shows nice touch, and excellent presence in the pocket. His athleticism just adds to his potential. There isn't one draft guru or scout that entertains the notion of him being something other than a very gifted QB. He'll need time and he'll need work, but the potential of what he could develop into will get him drafted in the top 10.

He'll probably go third after Leinart and Bush.Depends on who trades up to get him.It would be silly for him to come back and risk injury. Take the money and run......

Young 3rd after Leinart and Bush? This is the NFL draft, not the Heisman race. Young should be thrilled to go top 10. Forget #3.

It's possible he could go 3rd. As mentioned above, he'll have to test exceptionally. He might. And D'Brick will have to disappoint or have very tight competition at LT. He might. I doubt it happens like that, but I won't be surprised to see AZ or NO grab him where ever they pick.

The guy is a great athlete, pure and simple. His mechanics need work no doubt, but if he comes out he'll go top 5 for sure.

Maybe someone moves up and he can sit for a year

A lot of Vince Young hype around here(mysteriously similar to the Benson hype in '04)Where do you think he'll be drafted??

I went with 4-6, but I would have chosen 3-5 too. Bush and Leinart go 1-2. The next three spots are up for grabs. Nobody... nobody, has locked up any of them at this point.

Reserving my vote until after the Rose Bowl.
fair response
I didn't want to get on the VY debate in Colin's thread, but I do share many people's opinion that he is not the can't miss prospect some are making him out to be. I have seen him fire the ball down the field, and even seen him throw with accuracy...but every time I've watched him play (6-8 games or so) I'm struck by two things: 1. He runs like a mother. 2. His passing mechanics are hinky. Now maybe #2 can be fixed by a good QB coach, or maybe I'm overreacting to what I see. But I am VERY skeptical that he will be anything more than Mike Vick Lite.

The board's median consensus is currently 10-12. Doesn't seem like an incredible amount of hype IMO.

There are 2 folks who voted 3rd round, and clearly they've never watched football.

Leinart obviously has had more talent to work withYoung might have had the best big game performance ever tonight

Vince Young is the greatest college football player of all time PERIOD

it may not translate to the nfl but for the college game, he's the best to step on the field.

Well, now that the Rose Bowl is over, here is my vote: 1-3 if he comes out now. No way does he slip past the Saints or the Titans. An absolutely studly performance.

People have been all over, I've always said no lower than the top 10.Guys a freaking stud. He's Vick jr., and might just be a better QB.Any chance he just plays RB?

He'll definitely come out now and he'll be a top ten pick. Is he worth it? I don't know.He put on a heck of a show tonight, but we all knew he was a good runner. Whether or not he can stand in the pocket and go through progressions remains to be seen. He looked poised under pressure and he was pretty accurate, but Texas was doing a lot of gimmicky stuff that won't work on the NFL level. I still think the best comparison for Young is Mike Vick. Vick had a similar ability to carry a team in college, but his shortcomings in the passing game have made him a frustrating pro QB. I suspect we might see the same thing with Young, although a lot of that will depend on supporting cast/coaching staff.

Yep. He'll be #3 or real close to that this year. That's assuming he opts for the NFL, but after winning this championship, I find it hard he'll go back to college...But hey, Leinart did.. who knows?

I think the Jets agenda just became clearer come draft day. That team has been looking for a scrambling quarterback for the longest time.

Leinart not impressing me with his sour grapes after the Rose Bowl..."you know I still think we're the better team..."

If he comes out this year, he goes #1 to Houston.
Now if you're going to draft a player simply to sell tickets and put butts in the seats (which was the thought around the Texans drafting Bush) that the Young pick would make all the sense in the world.

I was saying Young even BEFORE the Rose Bowl.. this only brings me more confidence in saying that.. :D He reminds me a lot of McNabb...

I am amazed that a quarterback managed to get 200 yards and 3 td's in the championship game. USC should have realized that they are playing THE BEST SCRAMBLING COLLEGE QB EVER and had a zone defense on the right side. USC lost this game for themselves, and although Texas played a great game too, USC should have taken it.

nobody has ever dominated the game the way this guy does. it may not translate to the NFL but he's the best college player of all time, no question.

Young will not be able to run free like this in the NFL. He is slightly better than Vick at the same point in their careers and we all know what Vick has done.Tom
