Was Maclin carted off the field? (1 Viewer)

I freaking hate training camp. I dont think its me, but there seems to be nothing but injuries during these camps to just a few during the season. What are or aren't these guys doing in the off season?

Most of these injuries are just tweaks and the guys are back at practice the next day or so. Just seems like they take major precautions and cart almost everyone off the field at the slightest sign of injury, just to be safe.

There really is not much to report on so an injury is major news and gets repeated. Hence, it seems like "nothing but injuries during these camps."

The biggest difference is the use of the term "carted off." We have all been accustomed to think that equals a serious, possibly season ending injury. If a player needs to be carted off during a game (meaning they can't make it to the sidelines w/o help) that is pretty serious. At TC, players seem to be using carts for any reason. The training room, locker room, bathroom could be across campus at many of these locations. Carts are just simpler to use.

This is true, however, any major injury in camp will still likely break with the first news being "carted off"

but he was carted off

I seem to remember reading that some players get carts to go to and from practice and around campus as a veteran perk. IIRC, DeAngelo Williams was carted off the field at the end of every practice a season or two ago.

So I always take "carted off" during training camps with a grain of salt. There are plenty of carts around, and healthy players are using them. So why assume on that sole detail alone that an injury is serious? I think any player is going to welcome the cart for even just a hangnail in training camp. Why walk when you can ride in that heat?

Seems to me a lot of injuries going on in Philly already early. Gotta toughen up these Eagles for the brutal schedule ahead. Now if only Vick could get injuried that would make my day.

:) One of the beat writers actually guessed this was Maclin's issue this morning.

Carted off (again?) at the end of the afternoon practice

@JoeFortenbaugh: Maclin goes down with leg injury and is getting carted off. Was holding his knee on the ground.

@Movingthechains: Jeremy Maclin carted off the field. Looked like he was favoring his left knee or leg. Team in group prayer on field. Practice over. #eagles

Some tweets from Jordan Raanan, Eagles beat reporter:

Jeremy Maclin down right now clutching his left knee. Serious pain. Dead silent. Cart coming out. Andy stops practice. Not good.

Maclin going inside on cart. Looks pretty distraught. And practice ends on that note.

:lmao:

Eagles Insider: Hyperextended knee.

Isn't this the sort of thing that takes 2-4 weeks to recover? Makes you wonder when he tweaked his knee in the morning then had alot of pain in the afternoon.

Per Sheil Kapadia, @movingthechains:

Maclin hyperextended left knee. Still being evaluated. Update tomorrow.

All of you who just went out and made quick trade offers to get rid of Maclin better quickly revoke them.

It sounds like Eagles Training Camp is deadly. The rate this is going by week 12 Vick will be starting QB, with Scott at RB, and Baskett, and Cooper starting WR's.

Lets hope Maclin is alright

I agree. Hyperextensions are usually just a few weeks, though they can be extremely painful. Of course if it's a "forceful hyperextension", it can tear the ACL. One of those things that won't be known until an MRI.Thankfully I acquired him in all of my leagues this year.

All signs are pointing to a hell of a tough year for the Eagles. Good thing we signed Kelley Washington though

The Curse of McNabb?

He's fine, was back on the field a few moments later.
Can someone clarify this and Bloom's post it was a false alarm? Which is accurate... Maclin was back on the field a few plays later, or he was carted off and practice was cancelled at that point?

Blame me, I jinxed it this morning...sorry Philly fans that totally sux, hope he is fine for the regular season. Football is brutal.

I think what happened is he hurt it this morning, but got back up and kept playing. There was also practice this afternoon in which he injured it worse.

There were 2 cart 'incidents'.

First one was this AM and appeared to be just a transport.

The second one was late in the practice session, after he appeared to hurt his knee (as reported above).

per Jeff McLane who covers the Eagles for The Philadelphia Inquirer:

Maclin walked out of locker room on his own with sleeve over left leg. He said his foot got caught in the ground.

This is gonna be a long month :lmao:

Problem with being in so many leagues, everyone that gets injured Im almost guarranteed to have him on some roster.

I won't breathe a sigh of relief until the MRI is done. It's a good sign that he's walking on his own, but we'll see.

Yes, Maclin was carted off on separate occasions, the second being a hyperextended knee. ;)
My source said at 4:00, that Maclin will be fine. He didn't seem to be worried...

Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia reports that Jeremy Maclin's knee injury is only a "bone bruise."

Analysis: CSN's Derrick Gunn cites a "league source," who says the bone bruise showed up on an MRI Tuesday night. Bone bruises can be very painful, which explains Maclin's scary reaction immediately after the injury, but can go away in a matter of days. Look for Maclin to be 100 percent well before the opener.
