Wash Those Jeans (1 Viewer)

This whole phenomenon of not washing jeans is utterly new to me and kinda frightening.

Dude. I get that you want a nice fit and all, but isn't it kind gross to walk around wearing unwashed clothes?

That said, I've begun washing them once every 2 wears. More than that and I'm checking into OCD hell.

Would any of you non-washers put on some jeans that someone else had worn for a year without washing them? I mean, there's nothing nasty growing in there, right?

How many times can I wear the same gym shorts to work out before washing? I'm doing a good week right now, wondering if I can stretch that to two.

two weeks to a month. it helps clear out people that hog the machines. also lets other people know how serious you are about the gym

After every wear.

Yes, I know Im doing it wrong. Call me old fashioned, but I like my clothes to be clean when I put them on.
I imagine these people wearing them 4-5 times before washing don't wear them every day.

It's DENIM - it's designed to take the abuse.

do you wash your shoes every time you wear them? how about your hats? jackets?plenty of things that most people deem clean enough to wear hundreds of times before washing.

You could probably go a year. I suspect you don't even break a sweat. Probably 30 seconds walking on a treadmill and then 45 minutes at the smoothie bar.

I wear jeans every day and have a desk job. I have at least 5 pairs of them but I usually only use on pair a week.

I send mine to the dry cleaners. I'd do them myself but it's too much work to get them starched and creased like I like em.
:lmao: at creasing your jeans the way you like them.
Ironic coming from freezer jeans guy.
I don't even understand where a crease goes in jeans....down the front like dress slacks?!

Jeans shouldn't have creases.

:lmao:

Shoes and jackets don't come into contact with body oil and, unless we're talking running shoes, sweat.

Hats? It's odd, but sweat seems to give ball caps character. And contrary to my wife's beliefs, I don't fart out my head.

I try not to wash jeans because they shrink a little after each wash. By about the 3rd time wearing them, they usually fit the best. If they are washed, they shrink and you have to start all over.
Is it the washing that shrinks them, or use of the dryer?

stand in the shower w a pair of jeans on.

then be prepared to call the fire dept when you are unable to remove said jeans.

heat shrinks them, of course... but water and denim are mortal enemies.

Thanks. I'll let you have done it for me and take your word.

Do you guys really think there is some mysterious quality in denim that allows them to avoid funk and junk?

Wash your jeans dirty old men.

You serious, Clark? How the heck are shoes exposed to less sweat/body oil than jeans?

If you wear underwear and aren't a fat ###, your jeans crotch area shouldn't smell like taint butter after a couple wears.

 A "crease" down the sides isn't a crease, Versachi.

Smell the ### portion of your jeans. Unless you never fart, they need cleaning. If you want to avoid the dryer, do so, but you need to get rid of the ### smell.

Pigs.
Have you considered wearing underwear?
Hell no. Once you go commando, there's no going back.

I have an algorithm I use to determine when I need to wash my jeans. Many variables need to be considered, such as when was the last time I ate Mexican.

Even if you don't smell like ###, you sweat and your jeans are constantly getting dirty (even if you don't see the dirt). I can understand going a couple or maybe a few times without washing them, but going SEVERAL times (I'm talking like 5 or more) is disgusting.

Pleats, hello? How else are the pleats in the jeans going to stay crisp?

:lmao: Pleated jeans? Have some self-respect, man.

What is considered a "time"? I'll throw the same pair of jeans to run to the store for an hour then take them off when I get home maybe 30 times before a wash.

I think he means an all day type of thing. If so, I agree with him. You could wear them a lot of times if you're just wearing them for a half hour. There's stuff in the air, dirt on things you brush up against or sit on etc. Freezing jeans is a ridiculous concept. I can't even believe people do that.

I do about three and it's over the course of a few weeks.

I don't see the big deal. Wool slacks aren't meant to be dry cleaned unless they get stained or smell. As long as you brush them properly they can easily go 10+ wearings. Denim is even more durable.

Yeah, shoes pick up all kinds of oils. Feet sweat a lot.
