Week 12 Denver RB Update Thread (1 Viewer)

Might as well consolidate this since it's becoming an annual Denver mess and there are probably quite a few owners impacted by it. Henry and Young both missed practice Wednesday. Updates from RotoWorld:

Selvin Young (knee) did not practice on Wednesday.

Broncos coach Mike Shanahan said Young is "still a little bit sore, so it'll be day to day." An MRI on Young's knee revealed no structural damage and he was able to return to Monday night's game after straining the knee. Still, he'll likely need to practice later this week to play against the Bears.

Travis Henry (knee) missed Broncos practice Wednesday.

Henry, whose suspension won't take effect until next week at the earliest and maybe not at all, is uncertain to play in Week 12 against the Bears.

Shanahan quote about Young:

“(It’s) very similar to what happened with Louis Green in preseason,” Shanahan said. “The MRI was negative, but you do see a strain and it’s quite sore.”

Wow, this sucks. My league locks the rosters at the start of the first games of the week. Meaning tomorrow. Might have to insert Berrian for Young just to be safe. Weak.......

So does this mean Andre Hall is going to see a lot of touches? Boy if I was in a league that did FA via auction and had the second most funds remaining and badly needed a RB I wouldn't know what to do.

:tinfoilhat:

So, um...:cough: yeah, so what is Hall's potential going forward given these circumstances? :cough:

Exact same position. Not gonna do it. One, if not both, will be back I would think next week. At the latest, the week after.

There is a reason Hall is #3 behind Henry and Young. One is he cant block worth a crap on passing plays. Young will be good to go this week IMO and Henry should get word soon about his lengthy vacation. Hall will see some carries but Young will be the primary ball carrier as expected once Henry is gone. Halls value long term is minimal, short term he might be a good play for this week with the other two backs limited.

Shanahan compared Young's injury to what happened to Louis Green in the preseason. Can any Bronco homers provide some insight into what that injury was and how long Green was out? That could give us an indication of Young's status for this week.

Looks like it might be time to rev up the Andre Hall Bandwagon. From RotoWorld:

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports the Broncos don't know whether Selvin Young (knee) or Travis Henry (knee) will play in Week 12.

Schefter has deep Denver roots, so if he knew anything about the status of either back, he'd report it. Andre Hall has a shot to start since both Young and Henry missed practice Wednesday. The Broncos could go with a pass-heavy attack in that scenario, which would make Javon Walker a better looking fantasy play, assuming he makes it through the week setback free.

Related: Javon Walker, Travis Henry, Andre Hall

Broncos | Henry misses practice Thursday

If the guy sucks, how can he have any value? Maroney is not particularly good at blitz pick-up either that's one of the reasons Faulk gets a lot of third down work. I think it's safe to say we don't know a lot about Hall's ability to be a primary ball carrier. His 65 yard TD run last week may be an aberration. Young is ahead of him on the depth chart likely because he does more things well. That does not mean that Hall has no talent.

From Rotoworld:

Selvin Young (knee) missed a second straight day of practice Thursday.

With FB Kyle Johnson signed, it appears that the Broncos are fearing that both Young and Travis Henry could miss the game. Check back on Friday for Young's status.
By adding a FB, there's speculation that Mike Bell could slide back to TB this week. It's a clear indication that there's legitimate concern about Young/Henry this week, and I would think Hall would get the bulk of carries with Bell spelling him.

Rotoworld:

Broncos RB Selvin Young is expected to practice today.

The Denver Post also reports that Travis Henry will likely miss Sunday's game. Young's return would be a great sign that he is poised to start against what has become a very lax run defense. We'll have an update on both his and Henry's status later today.

Any DEN homers know if Shanny is the type of coach that if a guy doesn't practice Friday than they are out for the game?

Travis Henry (knee) has been ruled out for Week 12 against Chicago. Selvin Young (knee) is listed as questionable, and did limited work Friday.

Broncos coach Mike Shanahan said Young will be worked out before Sunday's 4:05 game to determine whether he'll start. He's worth waiting for if you have Andre Hall in reserve or similar options in later games. Shanahan believes Henry will be healthy enough to play in Week 13. The chances of Henry winning the appeal of his year suspension seem to be improving.

Yup, unless you're John Elway, Champ Bailey, Terrell Davis, or another long-time veteran with a huge track record of success and a very important role on the team.
