Week 4 waiver wire pickups (1 Viewer)

I'm going to start with Stevan Ridley. Belichick is slowly working him into the running game. BJGE isn't running well and was stuffed twice at the 1 yard line today. I think Ridley may take over the feature back role very soon.

I don't see the Patriots having a "feature back."

Maybe feature back is the wrong term. But it was evident today the Patriots cannot continue to win by Brady passing for 400 every game. They need to find a running game and the law firm isn't the answer. Ridley looked very quick through the hole and looks faster then BJGE.

Is Victor Cruz worth the pickup? I didn't see the game - I only see his monster stat line.
I'm not sold on him. He has had plenty of opportunity before today's game and suffered a lot of dropped passes etc. He had two monster plays today and looked pretty good overall. If you have a spot I'd pick him up.

practice player that never did well in a real game. Now he finally did. There was a bomb with some credit to his moves and some to poor tackling that padded his stats, but...good first step for him. He got a monkey off his back today. Since picking him up doesn't usually mean you have to start him next week, yeah I'd go with him. He may be developing, he may stink next week. If the former, you're not likely to get him in two weeks on the WW.

FWIW I think Manningham is clearly better than Cruz. even when Cruz was hot in preseasons past I liked Mario better. I don't believe (others, please chime in) he'll keep the starting spot when Mario is healthy.

New England is learning if they want to go far in the playoffs they are going to need a running game so I like the idea of Ridley. Think 4-5 weeks down the road, he might be a nice quiet pick up in the non shark leagues.

I didn't see the game but Bloom had a tweet saying that Cobb was in on 3wide sets in the slot at the expense of Driver.

Lotta mouths to feed in GB but Cobb is very talented.

Too many mouths to feed in GB, so unreliable stats there Buck...but Cobb does have some talent. My suggestion is maybe Garcon or Wayne if they've been dropped in the past two weeks. As I'm writing this Painter led a march downfield for a touchdown. When he played GB during the 3rd preseason game, he looked pretty decent. I wouldn't pick up Painter, but he's got to be better than Collins. So...Garcon and Wayne should be looked at if they've been dumped.

In order, if you can get them.

1. Kendall Hunter (pending Gore's status)

2. Nate Washington

3. Denarious Moore

4. Torrey Smith

5. Scott Chandler

6. David Nelson

I'm not hearing much mention of Torrey Smith in here. Guy absolutely torches the Rams and has clearly given Flacco a reliable deep threat. Yeah, he's definitely a boom or bust type play, but I could see his performance being just a step below that of Denarious Moore this year.

I hear this a lot, but the knock on both of them is questionable hands in big moments and even in not so big moments. Cruz seems to have some scary good big play ability in him and Manningham not so much. Why do people think he's so much better than Cruz that Manningham is the defacto starter when he returns? I'm not seeing it. Giants homers?

P.Garcon if Painter plays--odd, I know.

M.Jenkins if Harvin misses anytime.

Hasselbeck is a nice sleeper option--check out his stats, but I do not know how the loss of Britt affects him down the road.

Guys like the Audible advocated dumping Sid Rice. If he's out there and some of these guys are not he's a definite add.

Tampa Bay Defense for Week 4 with the possibility of Curtis Painter starting.
Thanks for heads up. I have an underachieving Pitt as my only D and they are headed to Houston this week.TB (Ind), Wash(@ StL), and Minn (@ KC) are luckily available. Sorry i know you all care. :goodposting: though on TB.

I would be cautious on Torrey Smith. Did anyone see him in preseason? He had hands of stone, couldn't catch a cold. Nice game this week, but let's see he retains his good hands of week three, or reverts back to preseason form.
