Weekly Waiver Wire Pick Ups - **CHAMPIONSHIP WEEK** Week 17 starts on Page 30 (4 Viewers)

With transaction fees, I don't see this as something I would do routinely.  However, I have neglected to draft a kicker for similar reasons.

Yeah, I've never played in a league with transaction fees, and don't think I'd ever want to, but understandable not to do this in that case

Somebody trying to be clever in one league and dropped Serman. Bye next week for SF.

Hoping the bye helps Serman fly under the radar so I can add alongside J. Wilson.

Should I honestly pick up Josh Gordon and drop either Curtis Samuel or Gronk (have Waller)? The Chiefs are one of the only teams he could’ve signed with for me to continue to chase this dragon.

im thinking I drop Jeff Wilson from my IR, throw Gronk in and pick up Gordon. It’s a 12 team .5 ppr. For some reason as of this morning, Waddle is also available.

I could be wrong but I wouldn't waste my time with Gordon.

You have one open spot to stash a guy no one is expecting.  Who has the better opportunity to be a breakout star ROS?  Lebron Bell in Baltimore or Josh Gordon in KC?  Both proved they could play years ago.  Both are in a position of opportunity in their respective positions.

I have to think the door is open for Gordon as no one has emerged opposite of Hill.  Bell will have to outplay Murray for touches in Baltimore.

You can only pick one, so who will you take?
Does your league give points for assists?

Sorry, you must be in a deep, deep league...holy Wow this is the exact moment I realized your phone auto corrected from LeVeon.

Gordon IMO, same downside & much bigger upside.

Why? Nightmare decision every week?

I understand hedging against injury but with Hasty & Sermon in the picture (don't dismiss Juszczyk as a reception/TD vulture) you need a lot to happen to make any SF RB relevant. I think the best options are Mitchell & Sermon on the off chance one of them seizes the job and makes themselves unbenchable. The others are, IMO, highly fungible and probably not worth rostering in most leagues.

Looking for my flex play

Gimpy Mixon vs GB

T Boyd vs GB

B Cooks vs NE

A Brown vs MIA
Y'know I've heard there is a thread dedicated to these questions.

I plan to make one every week and will make every effort to answer every question. There is a consistent group of guys who are contributing as well.

For me your call came down to Cooks & Brown (with an outside option of Boyd but with Mixon active I was less enthusiastic about him). Brown was the upside guy and Cooks was the PPR choice.

I keep track of my recos and post the results from the previous week in the new weekly thread.

Good luck.

Gotta say, why not Gordon? What is Jeff Wilson's upside? Three injuries away from relevance? (I went into a little detatil on Wilson two posts up)

Love Gronk hate the injury history. When he plays he starts IMO because I think Brady loves getting this guy TDs. But, for me if you can sell high you should (probably means redraft leagues because his value is already diminished in dynasty except for teams trying to win right now).

Gordon also has low value in dynasty but he doesn't have Gronk's injury history and...well honestly I have no idea of there is an "and" but if you want to have fun playing magic football there aren't many guys who offer a bigger ROI for fun. He is the definition of "What if...?".

I wouldn't start him tonight but owning him will make tonight's great matchup that much more fun to watch.

I mean I’m absolutely a “throw a free dart on Gordon” guy but Jeff Wilson’s upside is league-winner and we’ve seen it happen already

Okay, I disagree but I understand why you would say that.

He had an amazing week 16 game v Ari last year. Typical championship for many leagues.

He had two well below average games prior to that and one after that were salvaged by a couple 1 yard TDs. TDs are a stat I hate predicting.

I doubt many owners had Wilson in their lineups for week 16 championship games.

Sure, he could be a lottery pick and there is unquestionably a strong argument to pick him over Gordon. But he also has four other guys to contend with, each of whom had a decent argument for why they should be the guy to own in the SF backfield. Okay maybe not Juszczyk.

I absolutely would not argue with picking Wilson over Gordon but calling him a league winner feels like a stretch.

I mean it’s not the most likely outcome (which is close to 0 for both guys) but I’d stand by it if we’re talking upside. TD’s aren’t super predictable but if he winds up getting volume in that offense it’s reasonable to expect some.

It sounds like we’re mostly on the same page here though so I won’t quibble any further about the wording 🙂

Might be chasing points but Njoku was the main target today for Cleveland. 7-149-1. His TD was a 71 yarder.
Was wondering about this myself...
As someone looking for a Kittle replacement (thanks a lot, Brate), right there with you. Even without the TD, he was still 6-75. On the other hand, Cleveland won't be in a 89-point shootout every week, and don't we have a pretty good idea of what Njoku is at this point?

What are people thinking in terms of streaming QB options for Week 6? After the Wilson injury on Thursday, I thought I would get ahead of the game by picking up Jones before Sunday. Except now he's concussed and might be out.

The chalk move would seem to be Wentz vs. Houston, but I don't know if I trust him. There's also Teddy (vs. LV), Baker (vs Ari), Mac (vs Dal) and Ben (ugh)

Heineke vs KC

Looked ugly, would bet he’s out at least two weeks.

but Jones will be a question mark facing la next week
As a Barkley owner, I'm thinking of dropping A-Rob for Booker. But the Giants' injuries are giving me pause. On the one hand, they may have to force Booker touches because there's no one else. On the other, that offense may be a clusterfudge inside a dumpster fire inside a hot mess.

The O is going to struggle all season but Jones and Shepherd should be back soon.

JuJu Smith-Schuster:

Per Gerry Dulac, the Steelers fear the WR JuJu Smith-Schuster tore a shoulder muscle and is expected to miss the rest of the season with the injury.

Analysis: Early in the second quarter, the Steelers WR suffered a shoulder injury that knocked him out of the game. He quickly got ruled out of the game and went to the locker room in pain. Upon MRI's the Steelers fear Smith-Schuster tore a muscle in his shoulder that will cost him the rest of the 2021 season. Chase Claypool and Ray-Ray McLoud will take the biggest steps forward in the offense.

Giants may also look to brightwell, he’s been getting some good pub

Also, Toney is still out there in a couple of my leagues, including one with open waivers. It's likely his target share will go down as the rest of the WRs get healthy, but it doesn't appear he'll be suspended for the punch, and he looks like he could be a really special talent.

I have a team where I'm pretty set at WR (DK, Moore, DSmith, Pittman, Boyd, A-Rob). But I'm considering dropping the last two for Booker and Toney. Kind of weird to be doubling down on the Giants offense right now, but I like the opportunity in one case and the talent in the other.

I doubt this.  WR James Washington & TEs Pat Freiermuth and Eric Ebron are more likely to get a bump than Ray Ray.

Let's talk streaming TE options. I have one league where I'm still looking for a Kittle replacement and another where I tried to be proactive in advance of Pitts' bye and picked up ... Maxx Williams.

Some options I'm considering:

  • Njoku -- blow-up game which he almost certainly won't repeat. Still, it's not like the Cleveland WRs are hogging the target share
  • Arnold -- looks like Meyer really wants to use him
  • Cox -- seems to be the second receiving option on the team after Pittman, and also a decent red-zone threat. Added bonus: In Yahoo leagues, where you can drop bench guys who have already played, you can pick him up in advance of MNF rather than waiting for waivers
Other options I don't really trust include Ertz, the Pats TEs, Freiermuth, Conklin, Seals-Jones and Firkser. I view them all as dart throws where you're basically just hoping for a TD.

If Hunter Henry is there, he'd be my first choice by far. Next would be Arnold.

Nailed it.  For some reason he's the receiving TE and Jonnu isn't.
Huh, for some reason he had flown completely under my radar. I just kind of assumed neither TE was doing much, but you're right that he's been pretty consistently getting targets. Unfortunately, I also just discovered he's rostered in both leagues where I need a TE. But I agree with both of you that he's a good option if he's out there.

If you stream defenses and have room IND D/ST next week against HOU. I just snagged them in one league as NE gets DAL, then the JETS.

Otherwise, D Williams will have value without CEH, Booker short term with Barkley out, and gotta look at Gaskin again since he was dropped. RB's always seem to get a tad more scarce as the season progresses. And yes TE's in demand too. Seems like a lot of same middle of the road / any week WR's 3/4 are always available.

Just realized that Arnold has his bye in Week 7. So as a one-week bye fill-in, he's fine for this week. But as a Kittle replacement you'll need another option.

Thinking about this some more, my excitement level with these options is low enough that I’ll probably just wait on Jones and see if he clears the concussion protocol. If that means I miss out in Teddy and have you start Wentz, or miss out on Wentz and have to start Baker, not a huge deal

They could play.... years ago.

But I would run with Gordon.

Henry is my Pitts bye week 1st option.  Not sure after that.

Where I am struggling is my RB depth on what to do...3 options available (AJ Dillon, Eli Mitchell, Michael Carter) vs. what is on my bench (Jamaal Williams...and I do have Swift).  Killing me how WRs seem scarce in this league on the wire but RB depth or possible value is there.
