What age do I let my son get his ears pierced? (1 Viewer)

Dudes still do earrings?

I say let him do it.....on one condition....

He has to grow a luxurious mullet and shave lines......like a bosworth cut

I haven’t read through the thread—but I’d say the same as your daughter (13).   As long as they are both good kids—I see no reason to parent them different from one another when it comes to those kinds of choices.  I had my ears pierced for like 2 weeks when I was around 18. It lasted all of like a week as I found it horribly annoying to have to remove them every time I played in my basketball leagues.  By the second week after I was pierced—the holes closed back up.

You can say that, in some areas, men have a different road to hoe.  You and I know it's true; he may as well learn it early.
This is way too smart and honest to ever be taken seriously by egalitarians who seek gender-neutral outcomes for everything.

Men are different. Don't get an earring, boy, you'll regret it. Unless you get one of those silver hoops you put in each ear. Or diamonds like your favorite MC...or...or...

Damn, everyone has an earring, don't they?

But really, it might be a good life lesson to button up on the expression a tad because what society needs -- and, more importantly, what the object of his affection will crave no matter what she says -- is someone with a reasonable comportment consisting of an often staid demeanor; one who exercises wisdom and not necessarily expressive passion in his and her affairs. To walk the fine line between reason and wisdom is the task of a man in our society. To live with feeling yet remain thoughtfully prudent, symbiotic and hand in hand. Best of luck to him.

My work here is finished. I just saved the world.

He got banned for getting liquored up and saying some inappropriate things.  LIfetime ban.   I know him personally though, so if you need him he still visits the forums.
Whoa.  I miss his insight when people would write in with tooth problems.  Looks like another example of heavy-handed moderating.

My son got a tattoo on his 19th BDay, pierced his ears at 21, he's an adult and can do what he wants but I did manage to stop him from getting an entire forearm tattooed although I have no right to tell him not to but I thought it was a little too permanent. He was a big fan of Pete Davidson and I have been sending him the stories of Pete trying to reverse many of these tattoos before he starts getting himself over inked up.

I got my ear pierced when I graduated from 6th grade. That was back when jr high was only 7 & 8

By the time I was in college, I had 3 piercings. I mostly wore 3 X earnings because I am straight edge. If I had to guess, I stopped wearing them around the time my kids were born. Don’t wear them anymore.
Graduated?
