I don't like relish as a condiment. I will use sweet relish when I make tuna salad. Mix in some sweet relish, onions, salt, pepper, pepperoncini, and touch of hot sauce

Dill relish for me, but I use it sparingly. Will occasionally throw it on a hotdog. Other than that I’ll make homemade tartar sauce with it

The neon stuff is fine for a Chicago dog

Sweet relish is pretty gross. Wife puts it in tuna, finally got to a point in our relationship where we had to start making separate tuna

I read the choices, thought chutney was the clear winner.

Then I read the comments and not shocked at the other two posters who made the correct vote. I expect at least 1 more vote for chutney, but we will see if they comment in this thread.

I guess I never really thought of chutney as a "relish." I voted "I don't like relish" because that's the most accurate statement of my opinion on the matter, but chutney is good in the right context.

Wickles makes this spicy red sandwich spread out of diced jalapenos and cucumbers that is incredible stuff. Crack to me. Sandwiches, hot dogs, salads. Put it on everything.

Love me a hotdog with some chutney. :bored:Buncha dorks
"A relish is a cooked and pickled culinary dish made of chopped vegetables, fruits or herbs and is a food item typically used as a condiment to enhance a staple. Examples are chutneys and the North American relish, a pickled cucumber jam eaten with hot dogs."

there are other relishes beyond those pickles, and applications exceeding hotdogs

:pickle::clyde:

edit: unfortunately, uncooked= olive salad (used for muffulettas) would be a favorite if it qualified.
I love Maque choux as a side (but not really a condiment).

In retrospect, I probably should have left chutney out of the poll but it's such a fun word.

If the category is opened up from pickle relish to relishes in general, you get into all sorts of variations made with tomatoes, peppers, olives, etc.

I had never heard of chutney or chow chow until reading this thread. Learn something new every day I guess. :thumbup:

I make a pickle wrap dip similar to this and use a strained jar of dill relish instead of going through the trouble of dicing up pickles. it's very good and easy.
