Koz hit NWI before yesterday -- doesn't seem to be in short supply. It was all over the place as I was hunting for BCBS. Tons of Backwoods ******* still floating around too.
I'm not sure, I neglected to ask my guy yesterday and he's not back till Tuesday. Typically what I've seen is, at least by me, we're about 2-3 weeks behind MI in distro.Need to find some Koz.
Hawks do you know if it is released next week here? That's what I was told but figure you're pretty plugged in so wanted to try to confirm so I don't miss it.
I want to go find some, are they selling bottles/growlers at Hailstorm?I agree, it does. I am guessing it will be distributed locally so will grab one then. They also release some BA stuff too. Trying to find out if, and when, that happens.
They were $15 per bomber and had it on tap at Hailstorm. I didn't go so don't know if they had growlers. They do crowlers now too.....which actually sounds like an awesome idea for the family Thanksgiving party today...I want to go find some, are they selling bottles/growlers at Hailstorm?
Lot of Backwoods by me too. That's a good thing though since it's delicious.Koz hit NWI before yesterday -- doesn't seem to be in short supply. It was all over the place as I was hunting for BCBS. Tons of Backwoods ******* still floating around too.
Blackhawks and Kings aren't on until 9:30 CST so you have time.I heard there was a big game today. I need to find something to drink then.
lol I might already be passed out by thenBlackhawks and Kings aren't on until 9:30 CST so you have time.
Going to call around noon and maybe run out there. Is it a sweet stout and at 13% is it hot at all? They were $15 per bomber and had it on tap at Hailstorm. Imperial milk stout but haven't tried it.Going to call around noon and maybe run out there. Is it a sweet stout and at 13% is it hot at all?
Nice. Now send me some. You owe me.Lots of talk of the ####shows that were the BCS releases locally. I'll enjoy my beers while the rest of the truck-chasers run around.
Community Beer Works That IPA (in a can!)
Go try it. It's awesome. Just got back, ran out to the tap room and tried a glass, got 6 bottles. 4 for me with one in the freezer. It's dangerous, doesn't drink like 13%.ditka311 said:Imperial milk stout but haven't tried it.
Nice. Have you been there before? They have a bunch left?Go try it. It's awesome. Just got back, ran out to the tap room and tried a glass, got 6 bottles. 4 for me with one in the freezer. It's dangerous, doesn't drink like 13%.
They said that they had a ton and nope hadn't been there before...it's tiny.Nice. Have you been there before? They have a bunch left?
Drinking Cumulus and Brickstone APA. #### show going to start soon though.
They open up the sections behind the wall and bar so it holds a bunch of people. You sit between the barrels and fermenters. They said that they had a ton and nope hadn't been there before...it's tiny.
From what I've heard, if you had a bad one, there would be zero ambiguity about it -- you'd know.15 BCBS. It's very good but does taste slightly off. I'm not sure if it's in my head, but seems only 90% of what it should be
Yeah I could just be disappointed by it or it could be in my head. I have drank a lot today already. From what I've heard, if you had a bad one, there would be zero ambiguity about it -- you'd know.
I HATE wax dipped anything...pain in the ### to open. Hate it. Beer was excellent though! They open up the sections behind the wall and bar so it holds a bunch of people. You sit between the barrels and fermenters.
Will make sure to grab a few. It is wax dipped, it has to be good...right?
Think that he makes both regular and BA. Agree that both are good.Thought Brunch Weasel was BA for some reason. I've had it before but just got it mixed up. Good beer though
i read/post at a few different beer sites. it's always interesting to me to see how differently these releases are treated.Black Friday stopped by local taproom for Goose Island 2016 releases: BCBS, BCB Barley Wine, and BCB Coffee. All were delicious but the Coffee shined for me.
Anyone talking about "infection issues" is almost certainly an idiot. They pasteurized this year.i read/post at a few different beer sites. it's always interesting to me to see how differently these releases are treated.
groupthink definitely in effect. some sites are saying "these aren't as good as last year.. definitely noticing some infection issues again". others are saying "loving it! huge improvements over last year!"
seems like it just takes one person to throw an opinion out before the ball gets rolling one way or the other. interesting from a social psychology standpoint if nothing else.
Agreed. All three I had in the past 2 days were great.Anyone talking about "infection issues" is almost certainly an idiot. They pasteurized this year.
this seems to be the current hue and cry. reports were coming out before black Friday was even half over.Anyone talking about "infection issues" is almost certainly an idiot. They pasteurized this year.

Yeah, I'd probably feel differently if I were in the industry, but at the end of the day, it's about beer quality for me, and Bourbon County and the Sour Sisters (and Sofie) can hang with any beer on this planet, so I drink 'em, InBev or no.They're all infected. Infected with greed, corruption, and malice.
I hear ya. I just like to get the word out. "Can hang with" is what makes it easy to avoid them for me. So many beers out here these days that it is easy for me to stick to my principles. Especially after factoring in their pricing and shot-show line factors.Yeah, I'd probably feel differently if I were in the industry, but at the end of the day, it's about beer quality for me, and Bourbon County and the Sour Sisters (and Sofie) can hang with any beer on this planet, so I drink 'em, InBev or no.![]()
Just FYI, while many IPAs are Imperial / Double styles, and are definitely on the strong side, there are quite a few good ones that fall in the 6%-ish range and are delicious. Also, there are plenty of good "session" IPAs that are in the 5% range or even lower in ABV. I don't mind a big beer (ABV) in the evening on the weekend, but just as often I'm just looking for something tasty without necessarily getting all buzzed up.Also... they aren't ridiculously strong, which is something I appreciate lately. I've heard that the American beer market is becoming heavily skewed toward IPA... or other style beers with high alcohol content.
Palate differences for sure -- but I'd agree that they can't hang with truly great fruited long sours like Jester King, Crooked Stave, etc. Of course I can't get those here, so the fact that I can just walk into a bottle shop whenever and buy a GI sister is part of the appeal. The majority of what I drink is hop-forward with other styles sprinkled in when the mood hits, so availability is more important when I get that particular itch. Plus, I'd add that there is truly some god-awful crap out there in terms of sour beer, and given the price points on most of them, consistent, good, and available (even if expensive) often wins out with me. Rolling the dice and then drain pouring a limited $25+ bottle because it tastes like nail polish remover or straight stomach acid just really sucks -- and that has happened more than once to me over the years (looking at you FFF).And actually think the sister sours are weak.
One thing that can be said about the mega-brewers is their consistency is impressive. Miller-Coors produces billions of gallons of beer and its all perfectly consistent in taste and color, which is really an impressive feat when you consider the brewing process is not like making soda.So is Blue Moon great? No, that's not what I am saying. But they are steady. They make beers I have really liked over the years, and are easy to find at my local supermarket.
I have been slowly dipping my toes into the IPA pool. I don't know if this would be considered an IPA, but I like Deschutes Mirror Pond Pale Ale. I figure it has the 'PA' part of IPA so it might be close haha. And that beer is only 5% which is nice. So I guess I am dipping my toes in the IPA pond. "We have a pool and a pond... pond would be good for you".Just FYI, while many IPAs are Imperial / Double styles, and are definitely on the strong side, there are quite a few good ones that fall in the 6%-ish range and are delicious.
