What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (1 Viewer)

I had some great sours at the For the Funk of It sour beer festival in Seattle this past weekend. Here were some standouts:

Lost Abbey Framboise de Amorosa

Firestone Walker Sour Opal

Crux Viognier Sour

Holy Mountain Blackberry Table Sour

Holy Mountain Apricot Table Sour

Aslan Disco Lemonade

I also had a Boneyard Hop Venom imperial IPA, which was great.

They also released some rare bottles at the event, which I snatched up and brought back home with me:

DeGarde Bu Weisse berliner weisse

DeGarde Petit Desay farmhouse ale

Cascade Apricot Ale

Ale Apothecary El Cuatro farmhouse ale aged in wine and brandy barrels

Firestone Walker Stickee Monkee

 I had a bottle of Sour Opal last week...awesome stuff. Also had some de Gardes, and want more. Got a bottle of Cherry Raz Bu for this weekend. Going to a sour fest next month, can't wait.

Good read looks like my location of Nor Cal is the best place in the country for a beer snob

Drink up !!!

California period is ridiculous. Nor Cal is Nor Cal, and then you have San Diego on the other end...its almost not fair. That said, Ill take #17 at this point, especially considering 5-6 years ago Florida was a craft beer wasteland. We're climbing the ladder, baby!
Do forget Oregon that's what makes the Nor Cal location so nice. Central location from San Diego to Portland. Distribution is very nice.

NOLA Funk Series Piety (Cherry Sour). Delicious.

Now working on a bomber of A Beer Named Sue, a Prickly Pear FL Weiss from Cigar City/Cycle/J Wakefield/7venth Sun.

Perfect beers for this hot, humid night.

Ethos from Tallgrass. Very meh. Too malty and not enough citrus or pine for my tastes.
I had a Thirsty Dog's Citra Dog IPA yesterday...almost drain poured it because it was so malty and sweet...not a fan.
Such a shame if they use Citra hops. Man I can't wait for WW and NoDa.
??? Brewery or beer?
NoDa is a brewery. I am guessing WW refers to Wicked Weed.
I think he was asking if Hawks was looking forward to drinking their beer or visiting the breweries...and the answer is he will be visiting both breweries very soon on his trip to SC.

Just poured a Bells Uranus courtesy of ILov80s.

I dont think Ive had a black DIPA before, and I gotta say, this is the first Planet Series beer Ive liked.

New Holland Tasmanian Hatter IPA w/Galaxy, Nelson and Mosaic...pretty good, but nowhere near hoppy as it should be with that hop combo.

I had some pretty delicious sours last night:

Destihl St. Dekkera Reserve Fraise sour ale aged in oak barrels with strawberries

To 0I Sur Citra sour ale with citra hops

If you are a fan of piney IPA's take a ride up into Wisconsin and get yourself a bottle of Black Husky Sproose Joose IIPA. There is a store in Kenosha that carries their stuff (Tenuta's).

This brewery come out of nowhere or what? I don't think I'd ever heard of it but all of a sudden it's on tap at every beer bar in town. Like literally overnight.
That's interesting. I've a few different bottles from them, but I don't see it on tap very often in Denver. To OL is a "gypsy"/"contract" brewery from Denmark that doesn't own their own brewing equipment, but brews their beer at other breweries, such as De Proef. They were rated in the top 100 breweries in the world in 2012 and 2013 on RateBeer and were awarded 9th best brewery in 2014. I think they have probably been getting better distribution in the U.S. lately through the Shelton Brothers, who are based out of Massachusetts. You are lucky to get such good distribution of their beer.

My Alaskan cruise thankfully carries lots of beers by Alaskan Brewing... Had their Smoked Porter tonight, and a Hopothermia while cruising through Glacier Bay National Park yesterday.

I took home a growler of LAB Take Her Home. I had the Honey I'm Home Blonde with dinner. Both are outstanding.

I'm going to the Mammoth Festival of Beers and Bluesapalooza on Aug 1. Impressive list of breweries representing.

I honestly don't think I'd ever heard of them until the past ~2 weeks. I've seen their stuff on tap at 3 different bars since then.

To add to this though, it's possible I could've missed them. I don't really buy a lot of foreign stuff these days, and usually stay away from Mikkeller/Evil Twin and the like because I think they're generally too expensive. Also not a big fan of heavily hopped beers from Europe as I question the freshness...been burned on some faded Mikkeller IPAs from back in the day. So it's possible I have heard of this brewery before and never gave them a second look.

PseudoSue is brewed 7 miles from my house and we can't get any. Bunk.
I was in Decorah last week at the taproom. Grabbed a case and a half. Had a nice chat with some of the locals, ended up scoring a bottle of SR-71 too.

Weirdest thing happened. I drank a few sues amongst other things at the taproom. Went out to eat dinner then back to the hotel. Cracked a bottle of sue and it was nothing like the kegged version. Was afraid this was what I heard about with Brewhub taking over sue, that it wasn't the same. Opened another bottle the next day and it tasted fine. Guess I had some type of "palette fatigue."
