What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (1 Viewer)

More delicious beers over the past few days as I continue to try to make some more room in my cellar:

Santa Fe Kriek sour ale aged in oak barrels with cherries (one of the better American krieks I've had)

Cascade Apricot Ale sour ale aged in oak barrels with apricots (2012) (also incredibly delicious)

Firestone Walker Velvet Merkin oatmeal stout aged in bourbon barrels (2013)

Crooked Stave/Jester King/Trois Dames Cerveza Sin Frontera wild ale aged in bourbon barrels

Avery III Dolia sour ale aged in Madeira, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Carcavelos barrels

Destihl Excommunie Quatre sour quad aged in oak red wine barrels (2013)
Jesus dude, you drink a lot of world class stuff, those sours sound amazing.
Buckfast does not fool around when it comes to beers. I might ask him for a 30 minute tour of GABF next year using my Captain's privileges so we can bypass lines. And, he's good people just as his posting indicates.

Aristocrat, I would love to take you on a top-notch beer tour of GABF in 30 minutes. That sounds like a fun challenge. Let's plan on it.

Wingnut, you should think about coming out to Denver next year for GABF. You would love it.

I just might.

Having a White Oak Jai Alai canned 10/17. Great as always, but the last batch was the best ever...this one doesnt have quite as much oak/vanilla....not complaining, its still welcome in my fridge anytime.

You wouldn't even need to worry about tickets. I'll hook you up for a session. GABF is an absolutely magnificent experience for beer lovers.

Plan is to go to Hailstorm tonight. They have the following on tap, amongst their normal offerings

Friday November 20 we will have Barrel Aged Beers on tap for FoBAB weekend. Here is the tap list for Friday Night.

2015 Bourbon Barrel Aged Vlad - Russian Imperial Stout
2015 Bourbon Barrel Aged Vlad With Raspberries - Russian Imperial Stout

2014 Bourbon Barrel Aged Swan Song - Belgian Dark Strong
2015 Bourbon Barrel Aged Southside Irish Red
2015 Tequila Barrel Aged Crash Test Dummy - Belgian Tripel
2015 Bourbon Barrel Aged Vlad The Conquistador - Russian Imperial Stout with Cocoa, Cinnamon, Agave, Vanilla and Three Types Of Chile

Had a trio of nice american ales on tap at lunch with the boss - Space Station Middle Finger from 3F, Block Party from Karben4 and Black Husky's APA.

Went on a bomber shopping spree for Thanksgiving:

Rodenbach Grand Cru x 2

St. Bernardus abt 12 x 2

Boulevard Tank 7 x 2 (always)

Boulevard Rye on Rye

Boulevard Barrel Aged Imperial Stout

Chimay Grand Reserve

Dragon's Milk Reserve With Raspberries

Madtree Axis Mundi

Epic Brewing Big Bad Baptist

Warped Wing Esters Lil Secret

High gravity day!

Jai Alai IPA. I've been down on this beer lately but finally got my hands on some fresh...and man, I forget how good this beer is when it's less than 2 weeks old...so damn good.

I see Ballast Pt listed an ipo with a crazy valuation, something like a 13x multiple I think. This market is insane. At MKE Brewing this aft and into the evening. Lots of good beer.
Ballast Pt. had announced an IPO of (I think) about 30% of the company in Oct., but confirmed yesterday an acquisition by Constellation Brands at $1bln with valuation multiples in the "mid to high teens." This industry is absolutely crazy right now. Surely, Ocelot is next in line.

I was in Madison yesterday and ended up at Ale Asylum with some old friends. They are doing some great things at that brewery.
 But yeah, just when I think I can't be surprised anymore. 1 Billion Dollars for Ballast Point. Wow. The homebrew shop guys making beer in the back not too long ago. An employee that still works at the homebrew shop getting to make his recipe as a one-off called North Star. Then they rename that one when they make it a seasonal to fit with their fish theme, Sculpin. Jump in the Delorian from there and here the #### we are.

I caught a vicious bug on Monday and have been laid up. Finally got a couple sips off the lady's beer today. Can't wait to put a full one down tomorrow.

Couldn't resist this today. Gonna have to buy more for Turkey Day. Haven't had this in a while -- been getting the sour fix primarily from various American wild ales and stuff aged on fruit -- but Rodenbach Grand Cru is one of the best beers in the world IMO -- just spectacular.

I had some incredible sour/wild/spontaneous fermentation beers last night for an early Thanksgiving dinner with friends:

- Black Project Jumpseat spontaneous wild ale dry-hopped with Citra, Mosaic, and Equinox hops (one of the beers of the year for me - the tropical fruit and stone fruit character from the hops was so prominent that it was hard to believe that it was not a fruited wild ale)

- Crooked Stave/Mr. B's Wine and Spirits Batonnage wild ale aged in Rhone Valley white wine barrels, dry-hopped with Motueka hops from New Zealand, and zested with tangerine and kumquat zest (also incredible - the New Zealand hops and citrus zest beautifully complimented and accentuated the French white wine barrel character)

- Ale Apothecary El Cuatro mixed fermentation wild ale aged in wine and brandy barrels (remarkably complex and interesting)

-DeGarde Bu Weisse Berliner-Weisse fermented and aged in oak barrels (tasted like super tart lemonade)

-Avery Rumpkin (2013) imperial pumpkin ale aged in rum barrels and spiced with nutmeg, cinnamon, and ginger (one of my least favorite Aver barrel-aged beers - it is just so cloying sweet and syrupy and still quite hot after 2+ years of aging)

Yuengling Lager

SN Celebration

Stone Go To

Stone Go To

Bells 2 Hearted

NoDa Hop Drop

Alpine Duet

And I want in on the GABF festivities if I ever actually get my ### out there.

I feel dirty supporting Anheuser Busch but I couldn't pass up a 1/6 keg of goose island for $32.

To ease my conscience I also bought Founders KBS, No Da HDR and CoCo Loco and WW Pernicious.

Alpine Nelson. It must be pretty fresh, it's delicious.
About to crack a bottle. Isn't it wonderful? I split 2 bottles the other week with a friend that likes craft beer, but isn't really a beer junkie like we are. He was blown away. He kept raving about the smell and how much flavor it had. Nelson is such a winner.

Really sad to see Pretty Things shutting down . Looks like they are a victim of being shutout of taps in the Boston area after blowing the whistle on the illegal practice of pay to play

Enjoying a Jack D'Or tonight. Going to miss him when the supply dries up

FFF Dreadnaught

Bell's Two Hearted

Boulevard Tank 7

Unibroue La Fin Du Mond

FFF Alpha Klaus

My brothers are in town from Boston and LA, kids are all in bed, and we're settling in for some serious drinking and reminiscing. Life is damn good.

Drinking this right now. Love it. Considering opening one of my WW Freak of Nature.

Looks like I might be moving to Charlotte by summer 2016. Going to miss a lot of these Chicago beers but at least there are some really good replacements to be had.

Don't worry GB, I'll supply you with the Chicago beer...you supply me with the NC beer. Win Win!

Woah. I love Charlotte, great city.

Finishing my second Alpine Duet, awesome beer. In regards to the Pretty Things post that is sad to hear, I have a bottle cellared from them. Always looking for more to try.
