Vail Big Beers was a ridiculous weekend of drinking. I went to a variety of seminars on different topics like spontaneous fermentation (hosted by the owners of Allagash, Jester King, Trinity, and Prairie), barrel blending (hosted by Troy Casey of Casey Brewing & Blending), and barrel sourcing (hosted by the owners of Avery, the Bruery, Casey, Arizona Wilderness, and the head of the barrel program at Goose Island) -- all of which included several pours of different barrel-aged beers. The beer festival itself was incredible, as there were just so many amazing beers available to drink. Here were some of my standouts from the festival:
