Fight The Power!
I remember those days. I'm down to about $84 a month now.Wife just texted me: "You spent $484 on beer last month!!!"
Me: "Uhhhh holidays?"
Oof. She's got a point this time, that's a bit excessive LOL.

Hawks and ditka are better able than I to fill you in on what's new and hot in the city itself -- if you plan on hopping the border into NWI or up into SW Michigan then I'm your guy. 18th Street in Hammond, Four Fathers in Valpo, and Transient in Bridgman, MI are all newer and fantastic.I'll be back in Chicago this week. Anything I need to look for? Planning on just getting my fill of Pipeworks, Rev and whatever else.
A little Charlotte love.
Too bad Mikerphone is taking a break, but I'd make a big effort to get out to 18th street if at all possible. Apparently The RAM out in Schaumburg is killing it since hiring a former PW brewer too. Are you city bound only?I'll be back in Chicago this week. Anything I need to look for? Planning on just getting my fill of Pipeworks, Rev and whatever else.
If you haven't already you need to check out Heist and Wooden Robot. They are putting out some solid IPA's.![]()
Yep. In town on a business trip. Probably have a few Hop Drop's at the airport later.
Just about everything I have had by them has been "meh" lately. I was surprised by Stupid Kid but it's a good poolside or lawnmower beer. Used to like Crook County but my tastes have changed and it's a little on the malty side for me now. Let me know your thoughts.So....just hit 350 Brewing to get Dream Cream and Snowbi Wan Kenobi.
The tap list I saw at Heist last week was awesome and it was going to be a stop for sure. Some of their NE style IPA's but they didn't have much yesterday that intrigued me. I was considering a solo mission to Legion to get Juicy J. Heard of Wooden Robot but completely forgot to check their list...damn.If you haven't already you need to check out Heist and Wooden Robot. Nah it was a quick hit and run, had limited time that I stretched too much by running but had to try these two. Will post later on my thoughts....drinking it shortly.Just about everything I have had by them has been "meh" lately. I was surprised by Stupid Kid but it's a good poolside or lawnmower beer. You end up at Hailstorm too?
Yeah it's ####### crazy man.Cycle Trademark Dispute Coconut (aka Nooner 10), a Bourbon barrel aged Imperial stout with coconut...smooth as buttah, and compete with coconut floaties and coconut oil slick in top. So damn good.
$30/bomber is ridiculous though. They released a diff BA stout every day last week of their "greatest hits"....I picked up a Monday (hazelnut) and a Wednesday (coconut). I just cant justify dropping $150 on a whole weekday set of bombers.
Thanks.Hawks64 said:Too bad Mikerphone is taking a break, but I'd make a big effort to get out to 18th street if at all possible. Apparently The RAM out in Schaumburg is killing it since hiring a former PW brewer too. Are you city bound only?
It's a little bit of a drive but 350 Brewing and Hailstorm are really close to each other in Tinley Park. Am I a Hipster (Hailstorm) is awesome as are 350's Snowbi Wan Kenobi and Dream Cream. 350 is supposed to have great food and Tribes is out that way too.Thanks.
In Naperville last night and tonight, then in the city Thursday and Friday nights. Started my trip off with some freshly canned Juke Box Hero and Zombie Dust.
Agreed (obviously LOL) -- they are absolutely killing it right now, and the new Hammond location is a big step up -- twice as many taps, more space, and pretty solid food. Also much closer for folks coming from the city.Hawks64 said:Too bad Mikerphone is taking a break, but I'd make a big effort to get out to 18th street if at all possible. I need to follow my own advice on that soon!Agreed (obviously LOL) -- they are absolutely killing it right now, and the new Hammond location is a big step up -- twice as many taps, more space, and pretty solid food. Also much closer for folks coming from the city.
Good time for it now -- 3 "Shadows" beers available, plus Under Crown, Deal with the Devil, Hunter, Hunter Vanilla, and 2 BA beers (a BW and BSDA). I've been fighting the urge to head up there and restock -- d/t my ridiculous expenditure last month, another big beer purchase wouldn't be wise ATM.I need to follow my own advice on that soon!

It's been a long time since I've had it but... I remember liking this one a lot.97469 Samichlaus $5.25 330 14 EGGENBERGER INTERNATIONAL
Haven't been to Gary but the Hammond space is a #### hole, in a good way.Agreed (obviously LOL) -- they are absolutely killing it right now, and the new Hammond location is a big step up -- twice as many taps, more space, and pretty solid food. Also much closer for folks coming from the city.
350 + outstanding. I will take "things I never thought I would hear for $300, Alex..."350's Cream Dream is outstanding!!
Well both my BIL and I really enjoyed them. I haven't had anything else there so I can't comment on overall quality but I loved these two. Cream Dream was better than Snowbi and it sucks you have to buy both, only comes in a 2 pack. As of Tuesday they had about sold about half of them but "didn't know" how many were bottled.350 + outstanding. I will take "things I never thought I would hear for $300, Alex..."
On a serious note, the fact that you are pimping these makes me want to give them another chance.
Absolutely. Love a good dive bar.Haven't been to Gary but the Hammond space is a #### hole, in a good way.
That's good to hear since I like having relatively local options. Will stop in and grab them if I am out that way.Well both my BIL and I really enjoyed them. Finishing this bottle now. Temp is in the 50s outside, so it's warming my innards nicely. One thing about these big stouts that I love - you can stretch a bomber over a few days.Cycle Trademark Dispute Coconut (aka Nooner 10), a Bourbon barrel aged Imperial stout with coconut...smooth as buttah, and compete with coconut floaties and coconut oil slick in top. I've heard that those are spectacular.Ilov80s said:Got lucky to land Hipster Brunch and Hipster Brunch Rye. This is the first batch of the Rye and the reviews are insanely good- like best Stout ever good. Can't wait to try tonight.

OMG I was drunk earlier too!!!Had my brother and his wife and kids over for dinner -- plowed through the remaining Under Crown and Phantasmagoria, now on the 2nd howler of Four Fathers Western Sunrise -- might be their best beer -- Belgian IPA w/ brett, huge citra and just enough funk and a touch of citrusy sourness. Complex as hell and delicious.
Oh yeah, I'm now drunk on a Sunday. Also getting ready to shovel / snow blow for the third effing time today.
