What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (3 Viewers)

Will be sampling either DFH 90, or Titan Hercules IPA.  Maybe both.  I've never had either.
The Titan is sooooo good. I love Great Divide beers. They have been top notch for a bunch of years now.
Can you find it in the Bay Area? I haven't seen it around here (Sacramento).
I used to live in denver and had it all the time. Moved back here in '98 and have never seen until I bought a case of it at Bevmo a month back.

real ale is alive, yeast is good. Racer 5 is a winner. Hops, hops, and more hops. Did I mention the lovely hops? The first sip it felt like I got whacked between the eyes with a hop hammer. Just a touch of sweetness to keep it from getting out of control.Im officially a fan of Bear Republic Brewing.Edit: After 10-15 minutes of warming up, this beer transformed into one of the better IPAs Ive ever had. Some floral hops starting showing up, as did a great subtle sweetness to give it near perfect balance.

Now Im drinking a DFH 90 minute. This beer has one of the better aromas of all the beer Ive tried. Let it warm up a bit, and the aroma is incredible. As is the taste.YUM.

Not drinking right now cuz I'm at teh library, but I wish I could be drinking a M-m-m-Michelob Honey Lager right about now.

I'm not saying that this one isn't good, as I have not yet tried it. However, I live in MI and have never had a good brew from Founders. I've tried Dirty ******* (scotch ale) and another one recently. Can't remember what it was....

I've had it on draft a couple times at a beer festival; not sure if I tried anything else they had, though. Just amazing that a beer with that much bitterness is actually balanced. There's a lot of malt backing it up.This is NOT a "session beer". I figure for a 12-oz bottle, I'm going to want to split it with 1-2 other people just to have any taste buds left. But for a big smack-you-in-the-face, snap-your-head-back hop-sledghammer experience, it's tough to beat.

Better than arrogant ******* or is this more of a super hopped barleywine?

Max went right to the 90minute.How is it?
One of the best IPA's I have ever tasted. I'm so pissed that I can't get this regularly. It would probably be better if I had never tasted it so that I didn't know what I was missing. Well, maybe not, but still. GREAT BEER! I just glad I still have one in the fridge. I'm going to milk that baby. Thanks, man. Will report back on the Titans.

Good question. It's been a long time since I've had either, so I can't tell you from memory. If I can snag a bottle of the ******* sometime soon, I'll do a side-by-side.( :loco: at the thought of a bomber of AB along with 12 oz. of 13% DD at the same time. Maybe a group taste test w/some friends!)

Currently drinking a Great Divide Titan IPA (thanks wingnut). Very good beer. The taste is more of (what I think of) a traditional IPA, but done very well. Somewhat like Hop Ottin' or Stone IPA. I like the DFH a little better, but this is certainly a very good beer. FatMax score: 4.45/5. In other words, it is yet another IPA that I really wish I could get. On tap: either a Racer 5 or the Hercules DIPA.

Tonight Im drinking a few leftovers so I can clear some room in my mini fridge...Starting with a local beer: Dunedin Brewery's Pipers Pale Ale. Its not bad. Not great, but not bad for local. After that Ive got a Shipyard IPA (not looking to foward to that one), and a SNCA.FatMax, save the Hercules for a night when you have a fresh palate. The Titan is so hoppy it may skew the true taste of the Herc.

So at Beer Mania in Belgium they have the undisputed number one beer in the world, the Trappist Westvleteren 12.

The total comes out to 24 € ($29). But the shipping is 168 € ($204)! Is this even possible?

Two bottles!

This place has cheaper shipping, but unfortunately is out of stock of the 12 except for a gift pack that has one 12, one 8, and two 6's and a glass for 99 dollars including shipping. You can ask questions on their message board.

Yes. I've had it. My folks lived in Belgium for a couple of years when I was in college.Everytime I visited, my dad had a huge cache of beers to try. I know I had that one, but I don't really remember it. I can't say that it is any better than a number of the local Abbey Ales around there.

I'd have to say that a leffe tripel was up near the top of the list for me...

Package received from FatMax today. (2) 12oz Anderson Valley Hop Ottin IPA, and a bomber each of Racer 5, Arrogant *******, and the legendary DOUBLE *******!!!:drool:Tonight I will start with a Hop Ottin Ipa, and then probably the Racer 5. Its gonna be hard to pop the tops on the AB & DB knowing I only have one bottle of each....but the Bastages must be confronted...I know what must be done. Thanks FatMax for the brews! Id be the envy of my friends if any of em had any taste when it comes to beer. Thats alright though. While theyre sucking on swill, Ill be happily drinking da good stuff. :banned:

And thanks to you as well. For those interested, I traded Wingnut the above beers in exchange for (2) 12oz DFH 60's, (2) 12oz DFH 90's, (2) 12 oz Titans IPAs, (1) bomber Hercules DIPA. Got it Monday, and the only beers I have left are one DFH 90 (which I might save for awhile) and the bomber of Hercules (which will likely be gone sometime this evening). The packaging and shipping cost as much as the beer, but it is well worth it to get some beers that I wouldn't have been able to try otherwise. I would gladly do it again. The DFH 90 is one of the best beers I have had the pleasure of drinking. Thanks again, Wingnut.

This is the best thread going right now. We'll get another trade going soon FatMax. I can send you all the 90minute you want. Have you attacked Hercules yet? If so, whad'ya think?Just finishing up the 1st Hop Ottin IPA. A pretty standard Northwest IPA. Good beer, just nothing new or exciting. Extreme hop bitterness, which I like in a beer. Really thirst quenching and easy drinking. Id like a tad more malt for more balance, but for flat out hoppiness, this beer fits the bill. Its a true Hop Bomb. Im glad I finally got my hands on some though, Ive been wanting to try ot for a while. I think Ill rev up the Racer 5 next. :banned:

Got away from 3.2 MGD in a can I was drinking this weekend and am back home to the cozy taste of my favorite Grolsch.... :banned:

I had three Asahi's (only beer in my buddy's fridge). Now, I just went after the Dewar's. I'm actually gonna bring it, along with the Sports Page, to go take a dump right now. :bye:

No prob. It will not be solid, either. Didn't eat much, and have been drinking. I can feel it isn't gonna be pretty, but sometimes I like that. :excited:

Dude how does the laws in Colorado work? You live in the state that makes tons of great, strong brews (Great Divide comes to mind immediately), yet youre drinking 3.2 beer?? 3.2?! I cant even fathom what 3.2 beer tastes like. Down here the Bud/Miller/Coors is around 4% give or take a few tenths of a percent.

In Colorado on Sundays, all liquor stores are closed. You can buy beer from the corner store or supermarket, but it is the 3.2 or less type beer--which basically tastes like beer flavored water and is different from the stuff sold in liquor stores. The funny part is bars and restaurants are still open serving the real thing,So if you run out on Sunday it is called either A)poor planning on my part and not buying enough on Saturday or B) brother in law comes over on Saturday and drinks all my supply.

Colorado I think is one of the few places that still sells this stuff. I was shocked when I went to Nevada and could buy "real" beer at Walmart....

Wow, down here, you cant buy package liquor on Sundays (county law. Other counties around me can sell it), but you can buy beer and wine. You can drink liquor in a bar on Sunday, you just cant buy package liquor. But the beer flows all day long. All I know is that if I lived in Colorado, I would never fall victim to "A" (poor planning). Id always make sure I had enough for Sunday. Unless your a lush and just drank your Sunday supply a bit early.

I did drink the Hercules last night. Wow. That might be the hoppiest beer I've sampled to date. If Hop Ottin is a true hop bomb, Hercules is a freakin' ICBM. The first drink made my eyes water (not joking). Very good, but for me, it's not a beer that I would want more one of at a sitting. It's almost too much. Almost. Very good, however. Not all that complex, but it is what it is. A hoppin' nuke. I followed it with a SNPA, and I couldn't even taste it.I feel the same way as you about Hop Ottin'. It's a very good beer, but it is not all that complex and could use a bit more balance (like Racer 5). That said, it is still in my top five IPAs and is a beer that hop lovers must try. I'm glad that you got the chance.

I'm saving my last DFH 90 for awhile.

Currently drinking a Stone Arrogant *******. I think pretty much everyone has had it before (except Wingnut), so I won't go into detail about how damn good this beer is.Up next will probably be a Redhook ESB. Not great, but decent for what it is.

I had the SmuttyNose IPA 12oz last night followed by a Bear Republic Racer 5 12oz bottle. Both were excellent IPA's.
Last night I had (apparently) 1 too many pints of Smuttynose IPA (on draft) at a nice little Scottish pub. Me: "So, I'm taking the kids to your mom's tomorrow at 5." Wife: "No. Don't you remember our talk last night? You're taking (daughter0 to field hockey practice." Oh yeah, I remember....sure.

Still at work...but when I get home I'll either pop a Reaper Ale Sleighor Double IPA or the Great Divide Hercules Double IPA.Either way its a double for me.

I am sitting here, looking at the bottle as it sits on the table. Im gonna eat a porkchop and then Im confronting this Arrogant *******.Giddyup!

I confronted the ******* tonight. He put up a good fight and gave me everything he had, which was alot. Uber aggressive beer, and simply fantastic. In the end he found I was more than Worthy, and I will take on him and his doppleganger (DB) Saturday night.AB is a HUGE beer. Crazy nonstop bitterness that eventually gives way to a nice sweetness without losing any boldness. Excellent, excellent beer. With the insane hop profile and awesome balance, this bad boy could almost be categorized as an IPA. Almost.I will never forget the first time I went toe-to-toe with the *******.
