What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (4 Viewers)

karl strauss amber lager :banned:
In a world overpopulated with boutique ales...okay that sounds too much like a movie preview. But in the craft brew market it can be tough to find quality lagers, pilsners or even bocks among the sea of ales. I am really glad that Karl Strauss still takes time to brew all three. KS amber lager is probably my favorite lager. In fact I think I'll have another.

Love the Two Hearted. Most all the Bell's beers are great, polishing off a six pack of the Best Brown now, good stuff. One of my favorite brown ales was surprisingly at the Indy Rock Bottom, Brickyard Brown. The brewmaster that made it now has his own brewery called Sun King, great beers, too bad you have to be in Indianapolis to find it. Although, I think some places in Bloomington carry it as well, which is also home to 2 fantastic micro breweries, Upland & Blooming Brewing Company (Lennie's).

Sun King has a very good rep. Wish I could try some.Upland makes some great lambics.

Wish I could help you out, but I live in Chicago now and don't make it back there much. I think they have 6 packs, but mostly they distribute kegs to local bars. Also, if anyone knows any brewpubs (besides Goose Island, average at best) in Chicago I'd love to hear about em. For such a great boozin city, good micro brews are tough to find, maybe I'm just not looking hard enough.

Just got back from "A Night of a Million Zillion Speedways" to kick of San Diego Beer Week. Had these 9 different types of Speedways:

Regular Draft

'09 Bourbon Barrel Aged

Kopi Luwak coffee (aka weasal poo)

Finca San Gabriel Bourbon Cofee

Toasted Coconut

Madagascar Cocoa Nibs (cask)

Chipotle and Morita Pepper

Vanilla Bean

Islay Scotch soaked American Heavy Toast Oak Chip (cask)

Followed those flights by a full pour of barrel aged. That was the best of the night followed by my blend of the last of my vanilla and the last of my cocoa nibs. Then had an Evil Dead Red and a taste of Speed-Kriek: blend of speedway and Boon Cherry Kriek (too cherry for me).

It is going to be a good week :scared:

Had a number of interesting beers tonight, all on tap, from Toronado:

This

Followed by this (ETA: the 2010 version/release)

Then this

Finally this which was the only disappointment. Aftertaste of fruit loops. The wet hop beers were pretty good, the hop aroma was intense but they weren't that much more bitter.

Sometimes I get in real antisocial moods (for dealing with real world people not you all who are likely just manifestations of my own insanity) and I like to sit home watch movies and drink...probably too much.

Tonight so far the drinking menu has been Lightning Brewery American Amber Ale, Stone Brewery Cali - Belgique IPA and now Mission Brewery IPA. Everyday I am grateful to be living in the beer and good weather capitol of America.

Just finished watching Touching The Void and am about to kick off How To Train Your Dragon. Sometimes I wonder how my imaginary girlfriend puts up with me.

ETA: Working on Ale Smith IPA...good stuff.

ETA2: Corona Mermaid's Ale, watching Will Ferrell - You're Welcome America

FWIW, I don't actually exist.

Funny, I'm watching Sin City and drinking alone for these very reasons. If only my family were imaginary. . .
FWIW, I don't actually exist.
Well that sucks. Beer with Steve Tasker crossed off of "Things To Do Before I Die"

Oh you exist. As long as I keep thinking you exist, that is.

Does this mean that I die if you die?

I promise I won't be driving tonight.

Ballast Point Big Eye IPAYeah this is probably a mistake. I apologize in advance for every post I make from this point forward.

Alipne Bad Boy DIPA on Cask. I've had the pleasure of having this a few times before, but never on cask. This was awesome. Followed by these Bear Republics:

Nor Cal Bitter. Eh. My pallet might might have been wrecked by the Bad Boy, but this was very unimpressive.

Endeavor IPA. Really good. Never heard of it before (hadn't heard of the previous or the next either) Tasted like a fresh hop.

Mach 10 DIPA. Really freaking good.

Then a Temptation. I will never see this beer on tap and not order it. I just can't. I don;t know if I will ever be able to say I have one absolute favorite beer, but this one is as close as it gets.

Then a barrel aged Ten Fiddy. This beer was the reason I went to this bar this night. I was surprised the others were on the list and thought it would be better to save the Fiddy for last. It was disappointing. Good, not great.

REALLY looking forward to tomorrow

Finally found Flower Power in Boston last night by pure chance. Haven't opened one yet but looking forward to it!
