How did you get the Shorts? I didn't think it was distributed outside of MI. What did you think?
I bought it in Wisconsin (I think, may have been Chicago). Pretty good. I had one on tap over the weekend and decided to get a 6-pack.
Cool, didn't know it was available out of state. It has a real cult following in MI.

I've found their stuff to be hit and miss in terms of actual bottling quality, but most of the beers I've had have been good. I still have a Blood Orange Wheatwine in the cellar/closet, I think that's the only one I have in storage. I had their Shnozzleberry last weekend and it's one of the best fruit beers I've ever had.

Shorts has some crazy beers, they try any and every experiment out there. Some work and some don't. The Huma is really big in MI-not quite 2 Hearted status, but getting there. It is amazing the brewery is still open. They had major bottling issues years back and would have gone under if not for generous contributions from other local breweries.

Just did some legal work for a friend who is part of a local brewery venture.

Should be interesting...and I'm taking half my fee in free beer!

ETA:

They're just now filing the paperwork...hasn't actually started yet.

I hope the beer doesn't suck.

Revolution Anti-Hero IPA

On tap for tonight:

Half Acre/Three Floyds - SheWolf

Pipeworks - Something Hoppy This Way Comes

:excited:

Just took down a bomer of Founders Frangelic Mountain Brown. It is a new brown ale with hazlenut coffee. Founders does it again. It's 9%, doesn't taste it, but definitely feels it.

Know what kinda sucks? If I have three or four beers before bed, I get to sleep right away (which NEVER happens when I don't drink) and I get nice, heavy sleep. The problem is, I always have to get up to piss well before the alarm is set to go off because I had three or four beers before bed.

:kicksrock:

Oh well, maybe I'll give heroin a try.
I can have 6-10 beers, go to bed at midnight and sleep straight through to like 8am without having to get up. Drives my wife nuts as she gets up 3 or 4 times a night. I don't know if it's a good thing or not because I feel I'm going to pay for it one day.48 years old, btw.
Sounds like your wife as an enlarged prostate.

Long Trail Coffee Stout. I think this is a year and a half old. Starting to fall off a little bit, I try not to age coffee stouts but this one is delicious so I thought I'd try.

A good, but somewhat boring Brooklyn Lager tonight, warming up for a bourbon run.Looking for suggestions for some really hoppy beers to try - had a Flat 12 (Indy brewery) Half Cycle last weekend, solid. Hoppier than my previous fav Bell's Hopslam, check it out if ya can. What else ya got in that style?
Ithaca Flower PowerBear Republic Racer 5Bells Two Hearted
Thanks. I've had the Two Hearted, love it. I'll check out the others. Ya know if they're available nationally?Another good one is Upland's Dragonfly (Bloomington, IN). I don't post much but I lurk around here a lot, and I think I've talked to you about beer before. Aren't you a CPA as well (not to stalk), I'm in the process of taking the exams now - FAR in 2 weeks. Gonna need some good brews to relax after that.
 I assume Racer 5 is available most places if I can get it here (it's from California). I live within a few hours of the Ithaca brewery so Flower Power is everywhere here, but I'm not sure how far it reaches.Yes, I am a CPA. Are you starting work in the fall? I took (and passed) all 4 parts of the exam the summer before I started working, and it's one of the best things I've ever done. I've seen several people start working before taking the exam only to either (1) not end up taking it [bad idea] or (2) slack on the studying/lose the theoretical knowledge from college and fail the exam parts. One of our guys is a senior auditor (7-ish years of experience), much more competent auditor than I am from a practical standpoint, and he recently failed the audit portion of the exam. I can't stress enough how important it is to get it done early. FWIW, I thought FAR was the hardest exam, though I ended up with my 2nd-highest score on it. REG was my worst, but I didn't think the exam was that bad when I took it. Good luck!
:goodposting: I am a CPA, and the "other guy" you talked about. Hardest S*#t I ever did in my life while working. Worked about 2 years in the Big 4 then went industry internal audit. Never got the CPA done in public, decided to finally hunker down and get it done in industry. My company is global so I did it while traveling internationally almost constantly. Missed out on a lot in my personal life between being away and studying when home, but still enjoyed myself when I could. Took me 2 years, 1 part a window. I'm an accounting/IT hybrid guy as I double majored. Failed FAR 2x by less than 5 points before I finally got the simulations that got me near a 90, that test is a MF'er, can't imagine with IFRS on it now, I didn't learn that stuff in college. BEC passed first time before they changed all the content, thank god, all my questions were IT and I'm good there. Failed REG by a few points before smoking it next time out, and passed Audit first time. Roughest about two years of my life, but totally worth it in the end. Never thought I'd get out of auditing, but got a consolidations accounting job at my company within 6 months of passing, all they want is the letters in alot of cases. Get after it and you'll be all set, Who Dat. Coors Light Post Draft Post Mortem Tonight. Beanie is my 4th RB, enough and it might make me believe he might stay healthy. :scared:

If you want hops, try Moylans Hopsickle or their Moylander Double IPA. Lagunitas Maximus is pretty powerful as well. Victory makes Hop Wallop, another good DIPA. Founders makes a Centennial IPA and Double Trouble DIPA that are both outstanding. Shorts Humalupalicious is a hoplovers dream, but I don't think they ship outside if Michigan.
That's a triple IPA: Moylan's Hopsickle Triple IPA. I live in Marin, and there are a lot of great beers made around here. I'll be taking a 5-hr brewery bus tour in the very near future. My wife got it through Groupon, so a great deal for about $40.

That makes sense. BeerAdvocate just it listed as a Double, but it is a hop bomb. You will enjoy your tour. I took a weekend tour in Michigan and got it hit up Bells, Founders, New Holland, and Dark Horse. It was a great time. Good work by your wife too!

My usual beer and wine store just got some Southern Tier Pumking in stock and got me 5 bottles. Unforatunately I have to nurse these because they go way too fast in this area :banned:

I also heard good things about the RJ Rockers Son of a Peach and picked up a 6 pack. Really like the flavor and can easily have a dozen of these quick. :banned:
