What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (2 Viewers)

Friday night enjoyed a Black Husky Howler.
how was this?
Pretty damn good. The honey gave it a smoothness I was not expecting with an IPA. Black Husky is becoming a favorite. I love their Pale Ale the most. Friday night I bought the Howler as well as O'so Convenient Distraction. Will go back for a bottle of Howler.
BIG fan of their Pale Ale

I went to the Burning Can beer fest yesterday in Lyons, CO. It was an awesome event. Oskar Blues hosts the outdoor beer festival at a park in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains with over 50 different can-centric breweries. In addition to beer, there had a bunch of different food trucks, live music, a BMX bike competition, a cornhole tournament, a rugby game, various prize giveaways, and camping. I camped out right in the same park where the festival was held. It was an incredibly fun Colorado festival.

Stopped in bottle shop in brother's hood for a six pack, ask owner if they have any bourbon stouts. Yeah we have Bourbon County Brand Stout on tap.

I'll take three please.

On the way home had an Anderson Bourbon Barrel Stout. Got home and finished the night with a 120 and Huge Market. What a night.

Does anybody enjoy these beers made with spicy peppers? I've tried 3 now and they all kinda suck. Kinda fun to drink just for the novelty factor, but anything more than a small taster glass of it is just too much imo. I think my days of trying 650ml bottles of the stuff are over.

are you still alive?

Huge Arker, damn auto correct. Might get lucky and open a 2003 120. Sheeeet.

Still alive, somehow. Did stumble back out to the bars and found a Maharaja (this place had KBS on tap last month) and a few more of the Anderson Barrel Stouts ($2.50 draft beers on Tue).

Passing through Asheville this weekend, anyone have a can't miss stop if I only have enough time for one place?

I'm going to the Boulder SourFest at Avery Brewing this weekend. It should be a great event with loads of rare, interesting sour wild ales. Tickets sold out in less than a minute this year. I'm hoping that they release a beer list sometime before the festival.

I haven't been, but Wicked Weed would be the first place that I would go to.

I concur. I wouldn't miss Wicked Weed if passing through Asheville. I think they are highest-regarded local brewery on the national scene. I'm consistently impressed with their beer whenever I see them at festivals. Their current tap list sounds awesome.

Went to Lagunitas on Tuesday. Every 1st Tuesday of the month, they close the place to the public and from 4:20pm - 7-ish, it's open to "industry folk." So, as an employee of Trader Joe's, I qualified as an industry person. I had to show a current paystub. On the sign-in sheet, I saw people from Appleby's, Chili's and Lucky. My wife and I (each industry person can bring a +1) each got 3 bottle caps for 3 free pints. Pretty cool of them to do that. They had enchiladas and chips and salsa for free too.

I had Maximus (x 2) and Undercover (x 2). My wife had a Maximus and Daytime IPA.

I have pretty much gone exclusive Pipeworks...so f'ing good. Having a nice Citra Ninja now, have a few Something Hoppy this way comes in the fridge, last week finished my last Attack of the Devil's lettuce and Derkato. Such fabulous beer. Can't wait until they open their brewpub....I may go broke!

Picked up a 4 pack of Chillwave.

It is outstanding, not the happiest DIPA, but it had a pineapple/grapefruit taste that's spectacular. This is a great beer.

Local pub tonight is tapping Evil Twin I Love You with My Stout, Imperial Doughnut Break, Yang, and one from Stillwater Artisinal Ale (but I cannot remember which one)

Nothing today but found some hoppy wheat goodness I was looking for at Binnys S Loop:

Gumballhead

Akari Shogun

So good...
Gumballhead is good but WAY too expensive. It's way cheaper at 3 Flloyd's. Kills me to pay 18 bucks for a six pack, although I pay more than that for Pipeworks....damn now that I am thinking about it beer is expensive!!

Good beer is and I think it's worth it. I get a lot of enjoyment from it. More than most purchases.

I agree, but pipeworks beer is ~22 a six pack. That's a lot of scratch!

Wait...who pays $18 a sixer for Gumballhead? It was $12.99 plus Cook County tax which isn't cheap and it's $10 at the brewpub, tax included. So yeah, I paid a little more for convenience since I was considering going to FFF tomorrow but don't have to now. I am right off of I-80 in the SW burbs so it really isn't that tough to get to Munster but this was about 3 min out of the way so I got lazy. Plus they don't sell Shogun at FFF.

The Akari Shogun was $9.99 a 4 pack of 16oz cans and I will put it up against Gumballhead any day. I think I like it a little better but I think I will have to do some field research tomorrow to really get that answer.

Does Pipeworks sell 6 packs yet? I have only seen bombers. Their stuff is great but I would really like to see them put out sixers.

I agree. I complain when I buy $10 bombers of stuff but maybe I just have a complaining problem because I keep buying them.....

Then I open one, drink it, really enjoy it and remember why I paid the $10+ for the bomber.

Yeah that's nuts. I've only ever gotten the bombers for Pipeworks. It was pricey, but I don't remember exactly what I paid. I only go to Chicago 2-3 times a year so I don't even think about price when I am snatching up Pipeworks or 3Floyds since I can't get them in Michigan.

Just picked up a 32 ounce Miller High Life from the gas station. Got a 4 pack of big Bud Lite cans too. Might save them for fishing tomorrow. Gonna be a good weekend.

Is this Great Lakes?
Yeah, they released Eerie Monster DIPA recently which I liked, but this blows it away. I love the citrus IPAs and this just nails it.
They had a different one last year, right? Or maybe 2 years ago? I thought it was just ok. The citrus sounds better.

Maybe it was Eerie Monster I'm thinking of. can't remember the name.

Not sure, I don't regularly drink Great Lakes. I always like their beers, but for whatever reason, I don't buy it too often. I had the Eerie this winter I think, but I'm not sure it was released. They nailed the name, it's very tropical for an IPA.
