Nosferatu![]()
I love Nosferatu season. Cold Front season is upon us too....Cold Front x10000000HUGE fan of this (as evidenced by the case I bought last month at the breweryIthaca Gorges Smoked Porter...possibly the best of this variety that I've ever had.
). This year's batch is probably the best I've had.
Picked up some nice Michigan beers for the game today:Bell's Expedition Stout, New Holland Dragon's Milk, and Dark Horse Crooked Tree IPA
FWIW, it's a lager, not an ale. Not that it matters....enjoy!Sam Adams Octoberfest... a real nice amber ale....and it tastes even better when "someone".... (Likely me), inadvertentlly dropped a few 10mg valium in the mix....![]()

After drinking a bunch of this during the NHL playoffs last year I have been drinking more and more IPA's. Never liked them. Now I can't get enough of them.Starr Hill makes some good beers. That's not one of them. Not that it's bad, but they have better offereings. The Love (hefeweizen), The Gift (dopplebock), Northern Lights (IPA) are very good. They're doing a double IPA ripoff of Pliny which is really good.
High Peaks series?I came off pleasantly surprised/impressed with that one.Rebirtha said:Stout Sunday
Started with an Old Rasputin. Saranac Imperial on deck.
I agree but I'm not going to throw away part of the box set. Had the IPA while watching the Redskins this afternoon, it's one of my faves.3C said:Starr Hill makes some good beers. I thought it was above average.the Bock is out? how was it?we're still sitting on piles of the black barleywineSierra Nevada 30th Anniversary Bock.
Thread got me thinking of the Stone 10-10-10 Vertical Epic. Might pick one up tonight.Nothing right now, but the thread has me thinking about a St. Bernardus Witbier.
Agreed. The IIPA from the High Peaks series was surprisingly good as well; much better than the usual trash (sorry, it's true) that Saranac usually puts out.Rebirtha said:Yes. Best Saranac beer I've had.High Peaks series?Rebirtha said:Stout Sunday

Have not had the Saison, but Sly Fox is a great brewery and the Route 113 IPA is awesome.Matthias said:Had Sly Fox Saison last night. Pretty decent. Almost a cream-style ale like a Boddington's but not that extreme. The wife and I both enjoyed it.
Update? Anything interesting? May be doing Ethiopian this week. Website doesn't indicate anything out of the ordinary, but maybe they will have something interesting.Have had my share of Full Sail IPA kind of like it. I do prefer Dog Fish.Tonight I'm going to an Ethiopian restaurant. Have no idea what they will have for beer selection but does anyone have any suggestions?Big fan of IPA and Sierra Nevada but not my favorite. Stone, Big Sky, and Dog Fish Head still my favorite IPA.Just picked up some Sierra Nevada Torpedo IPA and Yuengling Black & Tan.Just had a Full Sail IPA last night. Meh. It's no Stone.

Yeah, I bet. Not bad here, but looking at the ratings, it's got very high scores from the Euro crowd.Stuff is amazing in Bamburg. Fresh and smoky.Steve Tasker said:Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier Urbock![]()
