this is good to know.Oh, by the way. There is a fairly large cost jump when a box measures over 22 inches in any direction. FYI.

The easiest definition would be that its brewed with lactose. Lactose is the sugar found in milk. Its also unfermentable with standard ale and lager yeast. So when you add lactose, its sweetens the beer with out risk of the sugars being fermented away and raising the alcohol content.I'm not sure if I have ever had a milk stout. I still have the Bell's Kalamazoo Stout that Tip Top sent to me, but haven't tried it yet. What's the difference between a milk and "standard" stout?

What did you think of it? I think it's pretty good, but not great. I still have a bottle or 2 from a six pack I bought about 5 months ago.
The Ale I'm assuming. Good stuff. Especially on cask.Tuppers Hop Pocket courtesy of Regularguy. I haven't had this beer since college...

Rated the Lancaster milk stout in the BOTM #1 thread. It was ok, gave it a 3.2As for the Tuppers, yeah it was the ale. Nice trip down memory lane. I bet it would be good on tap as the flavor gets a little flat towards the end. What did you think of it? I think it's pretty good, but not great. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>They also make a pilsner which is just as good. FYI, it's contract brewed by Old Dominion Brewing.

Had a Bell's Wheat 8 last night. Quite tasty, although I shoulda used a weiss glass instead of straight from the bottle.
It's one of a series - quite interesting process:

anyone want to recommend a follow-up beer to a stiff IPA? probably going to delve in to the Mad Anthony IPA this weekend.. need something to follow on its heels that isn't going to be ruined by the hops from the IPA.

Its a biggie, no doubt about that. One of the best....Holy thick sludge, batman! Black black black, thick thick, thick. No head after the pour, then mysteriously a 1/2 finger topper appeared out of nowhere.
WOW. This is definately a RIS. Thick, with a nice bitterness. CREAMY thick, milkshake mouthfeel. Larry aint messin around with this beer.
Surprisingly EASY to drink. The last RIS I had was Sam Smith's, and it had more alcohol taste and was alot more harsh, even at a less ABV.I dont know if I can drink 2 of these in a row. This is why I havent cracked my Stone RIS or Big Bear or Speedway yet....I really have to be in a RIS mood to drink those. Especially the 750ml Speedway. Its a biggie, no doubt about that. Big Black Bear isn't that big...its a very nice stout but it isn't a huge beerThe Stone RIS is much smoother than your average imperial stout...perhaps thats why its the #2 beer in the world.Surprisingly EASY to drink. No kidding. Hell of a lineup.I'd like to get my hands on some hop juice one of these days. What a good beer day. Had a Summit EPA with dinner. A Majaraha DIPA afterwards, and now a Summit IPA. Oh, but that's not the good part. In laws came with Great Lakes Burning River, DFH 120 minute, Dreadnaught, Two Brother's Hop Juice and Goose Island Imperial IPA. I married well.
I sort of had my fill of trading for a bit, but I am sure we could work something out sometime. I have them get me it fairly often and they brought me 3 this time.No kidding. Agreed. Probably the biggest beer I have had to date. Really good, but it takes awhile to drink. Very complex, and very strong. The 750ml of Speedway Stout is a very big beer and a whole lot of it.
Me too. I've got one worked out with Furley, but I'm taking a break after that. For at least a month. Then I'm going to try to get you to send me some more Goose Island IIPAs. Damn that was good beer.I sort of had my fill of trading for a bit

Until I went to Munich, I always thought having a beer in the morning was a bad thing. Having a nice light beer (hefe or helles) at 10am in a beer garden watching all the people walk by changed my mind.
75 and sunny here.![]()
gdb this weather... supposed to be like this clear through Tuesday up here.
Can anybody get Thomas Hooker beers from Conneticut?
You sir, suck much! Can anybody get Thomas Hooker beers from Conneticut?Just found out today that this is now available here in Georgia. Very surprising as Georgia is the only state outside of the northeast listed on their distribution list on their website. Somebody posted at BA that Green's in Atlanta has Liberator. Looks like I've got to find time to get over there.
Edit: Just got off the phone with Green's Confirmed the Thomas Hooker. I may have to go pick up some Liberator & Hop Meadow. Also found out they have some Jolly Pumpkin now too. I may have some options for trading now. And to think I just told myself I wasn't going to buy any more beer for awhile.![]()

I'll be attending my 7th straight GTMW fest this year. Great festival, great town. They limit it to 5,000 tickets, so even though it's crowded, it's not so bad that you can't move around and get to the beers. Some friends of mine drove up to Mad-town on the 1st and got 4 tickets each. I think those 8 are spoken for, but a couple of us also sent in mail orders, so there's a chance we'll end up with extras. If we do, I'll send up a flare here for my beer buds.rotten deal.check around BeerAdvocate... someone there might be selling a ticket.Have any of your heard of the Great Taste of the Midwest?
