What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (4 Viewers)

what happened in here?
He asked a question and I gave him an answer.
Beer websites that I would have been better off not knowing exist. Archers is bad enough.
Can't get Double *******, Smuttynose, Stone 8th Anniversary, Stone VE 04 04 04 or Nugget Nectar at Archers.
Curse you
Trust me, my will power didn't hold either. I ordered 16 different brews, then decided to wait on the other site since I just put in my order for a TurboTap too. Spending way too much on beer lately.

VintageEdit to add: I should have typed 16 beers, 11 different.

I have had Franziskaner (took some camping with me the weekend before last) and liked it alot.
I wish in the mood for something different tonight so I picked up a 6 pack of the Franziskaner. It is my favorite hefeweizen, and tasted particularly good as I sweated over the hot grill. Its nice to mix things up a bit, as all I have had lately is hopped up IPAs.

  Franziskaner is a long time favorite - having a Paulaner hefe right now. Absolutely a great summer brew, especially (as you said) after hopping the living tar out of my mouth over the past week or so.

I was contemplating picking up the Paulaner. It is actually the better reviewed hefe, with the Weinstephan the highest rated at BA. I may have to pick some up for a side by side comparison.

:X :D

Old Dominion Oak Aged Millenium and Weyerbacher Insanity. :suds: <- me
 THAT'LL kick you into overdrive... How did you like the oak Millenium? Neat twist on a long time favorite barleywine.

Still working on it. About 1/3 glass left. Loving it. Wish I had more. Then again, it's probably better that I don't. Have another bottle in storage, but it's spoken for...and I promised not to drink it.

Must. Resist. Temptation.

:goodposting: Never heard of those two but just looked them up and both are 11% + ABV :o
Both of them are seriously tasty brews. The oak Millenium is interesting, but the original is one of my favorite barleywines - killer malt/hop/alcohol balance. Weyerbacher make some of the best brews you never heard of, and the owner (Dan Weirback) is one of the nicest guys you'd ever want to meet. When he came to the first Extreme Beer Fest in Boston he left any bottled beer (about 6-8 cases) behind for the volunteers to split up as thanks.

 Good luck on that. I have one left that's going to be popped sometime this fall along with a vertical of some straight-up Millenium (I think I have three vintages, maybe 4, I forget) when my bud from DC hits town.

I meant to do a side by side of Millenium vs Oaked Millenium. I've done it before, but I chose to forget so I could do it again. Then I chose to forget about the side by side, so I drank the Oaked Millenium.

Gonna finish off the night with a Hops Infusion. Remember trying this a few years ago when I first started getting into good beer and not liking it. Hopefully it's better now.

Massively better - there is now malt to balance the hops and a really neat hop profile as well. Did you get one with the yellow label, or the one with the blue label with a big green hop on the sonofagun?

About to crack a Terrapin Rye² Imperial Pale Ale courtesy of Regularguy.

Great label and the beer gets rave reviews.

 I'm becoming a huge fan of rye in beer. Works VERY well with American hops.

Yellow. Looks just like this. Is the blue the old one? It does seem to be pretty well balanced. As I remember from before, it was a bit (understatement) hop overloaded. I'm liking it.

That's the last of the old label. The new one looks like this. Same brew, though - they changed the recipe about 6 months ago.

Have you had this? I'm really surprised at how good it is. LOADS of tangerine flavors. Glad I got two from Regularguy!

Not yet. Had the regular Terrapin Rye Pale Ale last trip South and really, really enjoyed the hell out of it. Tangerine=Amarillo hops - should work VERY well with the rye. :banned:

Sweet looking label. Never seen it. I didn't think the blue was old. This one is all I remember seeing. Definitely a different taste though.I know you saw my post about the new brewey near me. Don't know if you caught the part about him learning (a bit) from Andy at St. George. Gives me a bit of hope that more good beer will be brewed in the area. Gonna call them in the next few days to see how they're progressing.

Yep. Unfortunately, I'll forget it by tomorrow. Hey, I forget things. :D

My local brewpub has both a brown and pale ale with Amarillo in them - having a brew there is the fun way to learn. The brown won two GABF gold medals (2000, 2002), for what that's worth.

After an OB Millenium and an Insanity in short order I'd forget my name, my age, and probably where I left my right leg.

Who's this BAX you speak of? I'm sure I've heard of it before.
