What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (2 Viewers)

I'm having a 1998 Hair of the Dog Adam. Thing has mellowed significantly. Massive amounts of chocolate remain. Tastes like a friggin chocolate beer at this point.
Cool. I have a 2001 Fred in the cellar just waiting for the right time. Love that brewery.Just popped open a Dominion Millenium. SO smooth - not overly hoppy, overly malty, or overly alcoholic - just great balance.
Speaking of Fred, here's something to keep your eyes peeled for. Grabbed this little tidbit off of Liquid SolutionsFred From The Wood

Style: Belgian Golden

Origin: Oregon

I know many of you have been waiting a long time for this beer. It will ship the middle of June. For those of you who don't know RateBeer.com had commissioned Hair of the Dog brewing to do a special batch of Fred from the Wood (oak barrel aged Fred) for their users. Well, it is coming close to release time and there is a fair amount of Fred from the Wood that is yet unspoken for. I am therefore opening it up to anyone who is interested in buying.

Below is the text from the owner for RateBeer.com on their commissioned beer...

We hope you enjoy this release of Fred from the Wood, the first of RateBeer.com's Worldwide Masters Series. This request edition beer showcases the artful strength and technical brewing excellence of Alan Sprints of Hair of the Dog Brewing Company in Portland, Oregon. Sprints is consistently rated by RateBeer's thousands of beer enthusiasts as one of the world's most elite brewers. He has kindly honored our request for a special edition of Hair of the Dog Fred from the Wood, which is aged in oak barrels for six months and is truly world-class beer.

Pretty good crew here
Poker night, so no time for internet. Had half a dozen SNPA's from the keg tonight. Work early tonight, so I think I am done.

 I'll probably have to hit Halftime to get it, but it'll be worth the trip. Thanks for the heads-up.

Nice.

But I was hoping for pics of girls in thongs! :excited:
I post pics of naked bottles and this is the thanks I get  j/k...There wasnt many people around, it was a nice quiet weekend on a quiet beach

Wingnut - That spot looks great but could you please include a bottle in every shot next time. TIA
 I was gonna post nothing but bottle pics but started running out of film early so I had to take pics without bottles or the GF woulda had a fit. She was asking why I was quote-unquote "wasting" film on pics of beer....She's got some nerve!!!! Weihenstephaner Hefe is the beer of the moment here

Have my order in already  Matt (LS owner) says they are closing preorders soon per HOTD Brewery request, but will have a few extra on hand, so get it while it's hot.Tried the Fantome Chocolat tonight. Not a lot of cocoa flavor, and a little chipotle bite (hard to tell though since I'm a fireeater). Good beer, but I prefer the regular Saison.

Oh. I forgot to mention that I have some Ten Year Alt from Victory celebrating their ten year brewing anniversary. Really good german style ale (so rare). Complex malt profile combined with the refined bitterness of the noble german hops used. Different and very good.
:goodposting: A solid offering.

Has anyone aged a DFH 120 and reported back on it? Just curious, as I am tempted to get some to let them sit for a few years.

Skylord,I'd be very interesdted in getting a couple of these. If there are still some available.

I have come here to repent of my sins. I spent the weekend drinking corona :(

Cracking a Snoqualmie Steam Train Porter tonight
Damn the soul of the person who doesn't think there is a time and a place for Corona.
There is no time or place for Corona.
I hate to disagree with you 3C's but a Corona is a perfectly good beer for putting out the camp fire.
Big dilemma for me. Wife is pg so I've taken a vow of beer only as she wouldn't drink a beer anyway. So at messican places I'm unable to get a margarita in lieu of a mexican swill beer. I've taken to Negra Modelo as my default. It's passable. Corona has the taste of dishwater to me.

What are you gonna do?

:(

 Negra Modelo is the only acceptable answer here. I wouldn't trash you too hard if you went with Dos Equis Amber, either.

Looking around BA at the Modelo's and found this review on the Modelo Light. overall: 4.8

appearance: 4.5 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 5 | mouthfeel: 5 | drinkability: 5

I have not proven better beer in my life. is not thick, the foam has excellent flavor and little. Disagreeable flavor in the mouth does not happen. The first time that test, tastes a little bitter or bitter, but single the first time, if you overcome that test you want it forever. Some times it does not taste excellent but it is because its temperature has neglected. Needs to stay always cold.

:lmao:

Pennsylvania FBGs - any of you heard of Paoli, PA?

guy over at BA wants to trade with me... but he gave me an address that doesn't come up on maps.google.com

not even the town.

If I'm at a Mexican joint, which happens about monthly, I have no qualms drinking a Negra Modelo.

I'm wondering if any of these will show up at my stores. With only 80 cases, maybe not

Sierra Nevada Sumerfest.
whadda ya think of it? I had it last year and wasn't too impressed.Thinking about having an alt from Southampton (Secret Ale) or a Big Daddy IPA from Speakeasy. Probably will have the alt.

And that'll probably be it. On call again. :(

It's better than the macrobrews for that style of beer but it isn't a style I particularly go for. Just not that big on pilsners or lagers, although the Brooklyn Lager I got in BOTM II was probably the best lager I've had and would be a great summer brew to have on hand.

I love a good Pilsner. The problem is that not a lot of brewers make a good one. Sudwerk, a local brewery, does a good job and I'm still hoping to find a Victory Prima Pils around soon.

Sam's by me says they carry that. Are you anywhere near culdeus? When I ship to him, maybe I can drop a couple bottles in there for you and you cna pick them up. It'd be the least I can do.

Are any of you familiar with Snoqualmie beers?
Never heard of it. Checking on BA, it doesn't look to be very widely distributed. Sucks, because they have been well rated.
They're really small, and somewhat difficult to find here - and I'm less than 20 miles from the brewery. Cool place though - you can go and taste beer/ask questions with the owner/operator/beermaker.Doesn't hurt that their beer is exceptional. Their porter and their IPA are among the best I've ever had.
Their IPA is good you say? Looks like we need to work out a trade.
For proninja.

Spent the weekend in Mexico on a company retreat. Rediscovered Pacifico beer. For me, it's my favorite Mexican beer. It's a bit lighter than Canadian beer, but it really goes down smooth in that heat. Corona seems to always have a bit of a bitter taste to me.

Anyways, my two cents...

What kind of items do you have to trade?
I can get most midwest beers. The most popular request seems to be a growler of Masala Mama from Town Hall.

***Official*** Announcement

I just got a call from my SIL and she said, "Hey, you know that beer you had this weekend and you had me try? The one with the dragon on it." Yeah, I said. "Well, they have IT here at Mobile." This is only 3 blocks from my house! :excited: :suds: :pickle: :pickle: :pickle:

that was an excellent lager. could see drinking those on a very regular basis.

"Matt,

Unfortunately Devil Dancer is released September 15th every year. We only produce 300 cases which we distribute throughout 6 states.

I’m afraid you’re going to have to be patient.

Cheers, Dave"

GB living in Pennsylvania - aka Lager-land, aka Pilsner-vania!Oh, see if you can get someone to trade you this in excahnge for some of those juicy left coast IPAs - it will be worth it!

Hopefully they'll start distro to VA soon. Or at least to western PA so I can get my b-i-l to send/bring me some.ETA: And not just the pilsner. Looks like great reviews for many of their beers.
