Maybe the best review i have ever read.

Anchor Steam Beer-

This may be the first beer that really left a bad taste in my mouth. Im sure im like the 5th or 6th person to use that phrase. It just had a funny taste and after taste. The appearance was good. Smell was good. But the damn thing tasted a little creamy, and being from SF that's not god. :yuk:

That's what hefe's were made for. A decent lager or pilsner is a good way to start off after a hot day though.

Nice start!BTW, don't be afraid of waxing verbose over there. Here's part of a review of DFH Worldwide Stout by cokes (one of my favorite reviewers there):

For something this strong and this sweet, its drinkability defies description. It's the sort of sipper that can be swallowed in cheek-puffing swills without any associated booze-shudder.

It should be stated that I like the other, previous, WWS's better. But like a friend of mine once said, "that's like chosing the Scarlett Johansson flick that I'd least like to jack-off to. They all get the job done, bro. And with panache"

And of Xenabock, which he, umm, liked a bit less:

Murky browned apple juice appearance, with a tiny skimming of dirty white. If this was a weizenbock, it might be appropriate. It's not, and therefore it is third-world ugly.

Hazelnut liquor, rust, and dumpster cardboard nose, undercut with a sharp vinegar cider.

Loosely caramel malted up front, then it dissolves into a tart green apple must, full of plastics and compost. The tartness veers nearly gueuze like. Then it produces green pus and iron. Green tea at the finish.

Light bodied and charged up. Notch another mark in the failure column.

A rare total drain pour.

This tastes like scabs, and I can grow those myself.

well.. since you can get Stone.. that's outany of the Brooklyn beers are good. eta: particularly the Black Chocolate Stout and the Lager. some people seemed to like the Barleywine as well.

Gotta have some beers from Southampton. I have not had a bad one from them yet. Trying to remember the name of the brewery I tried at the last fest. I'll have to look it up. Some of the Brooklyn offerings are good.

Flat-spotted the left rear for about 50 yards then said "the hell with it." Got out of the truck, walked up to the drive thru in the same positions we were in in the truck, ordered, grabbed the food, and walked away.
