I found this Founders Curmudgeon tonight to be somewhat similar to the Wood-Fred. Not the same style (Old Ale vs Barleywine), but quite honestly, they were very close. Same heavy feel. Same caramel/woodsy/brandy taste. And improved as it got warmer. If you can't get it there, let me know and I'll go pick up the rest of the supply that Binny's has on the shelf for trades or unsurprising "surprise" packages.....Yeah, the normal Fred is superb. I'm excited about aging this beer as well.I'll be at 8 Wood-Freds when LS ships finally. Can't wait to try these over the next several years.I have 12 Fred of the Woods and haven't cracked one yet. I'll probably wait another year. This is a great point. I have another 6'er of Fred from the Wood coming (thanks to LS). How long does he think it will take to peak? And let him know that Wood-Fred was outstanding NOW. Curious to see what his thoughts are on its best age.One thing I'd like to know is what's the longest he recommends aging his brews - I have older 12 oz. of Adam and Fred that I'm dying to crack open (sadly only one of each). LOVE that brewery.Going to try a Niewy Ligt Crand Cru. Barleywine style.
I'll be going to a beer dinner on the 31st featuring Hair of the Dog brews paired with courses. Will post the whole menu later, but I suspect that Alan Sprints (owner/brewmaster for HOTD) will be there, since the brewery is literally minutes from the restaurant. If anybody has any questions you'd like me to ask, I'm more than happy to try and monopolize the conversation.![]()

Cost me a bit more than I had hoped, but not more than I had planned. Anxiously awaiting it's arrival. Kind of wish I had gone after one that was a mix of 8 and 12 instead though. Want to try 8 as well.
WTF other kind of search is there on the WWW than a WW search?
