Do you own and, on occasion, wear a cowboy hat?

I don't, but was at CMAFest in Nashville a couple weeks ago and almost snagged a free one. Would have worn it for such an occasion.

Have a cheapish straw summer cowboy hat. Used to go to the summer rodeo in my small hometown annually, so I'd wear my boots and cowboy hat. Now the hat just gathers dust, although I will occasionally wear it doing yardwork just for grins (and sun protection).

Nope. Not my thing.

I do happen to have a German hiking hat and lederhosen which might make it out once or twice a year around Oktoberfest :bag::whistle:

I own a very nice and quite expensive hat that I received as a going away gift when I was moving from California to Texas. I still have it, put it on once for a photo, but have never worn it. So I answered no.

I had one at some point in my mid-to-late 30's while living in Texas but no longer have use for it anymore.

I thought for sure you'd be a yes

Like bigbottom, I have a really nice, expensive cowboy hat that I bought decades ago. But ...I don't wear it other than for a Halloween western-themed outfit.

I am from Wyoming and have lived in almost every "cowboy" state at one time, right now in Texas.

No way have I ever owned a cowboy hat, although I did date a cowgirl for a few years. She had a few cowboy hats as well as a horse.

Definitely seems more like an urban sombrero kinda vibe around here........not that there's anything wrong with that :P

Have lived in Texas my entire life. There is a faded picture of me wearing one when I was around 8 or 9, but I have no recollection and I have never owned one or worn one since.

Maybe it's time...

You are missing out on a PARTY if you haven’t attended the Calgary Stampede and worn a cowboy hat. Yee-haw!!!

On a related note I was told by a local that divorces spike massively following the event….it seems to have a way of lowering inhibitions 😂

I have a wide brim hat that I wear outside a lot in the summer (yardwork, beach, fishing, boating, pool, etc) but nobody would ever call it a cowboy hat.

When i lived in Boston i never wore a cowboy hat, then i moved to Florida and my GF whos from Texas bought me a Vented Stained Seagrass Western Hat with Suede Trim ,i started wearing it, and i have to say i look pretty good in it . Down south it just seems normal and i dont feel out of place at all like i would up north.

I look fantastic in a cowboy hat and boots. But do not own or would wear around here. If I ever move to Texas I'm all in

Someone gave me a cowboy hat as a joke gift about 20 years ago. I just kept it in the closet and never wore it. Then the pandemic happened and I started wearing it during zoom calls with friends and family. Now I wear it about once a week, usually during poker games.
With a name like Willie Nelson you`re kind of obligated to wear a western hat 🤠

Neslon
well i stand corrected like a man leaving the chiropractor

This question made me lol. That was a first for these. I don't think I have EVER seen anyone in person wearing one. I'm 48 and in RI fwiw.

I was born and raised in Wyoming - the Cowboy State.

Outside of a baseball cap with the WY state flag (which I refer to as my "cowboy hat"), I haven't owned a cowboy hat since I was 8.

Edit to add: it's really disappointing how often I have to tell people it's not a Buffalo Bills hat.
I should add - my home town has a giant rodeo every year. Cowboy hats are very common around town the last week of July, but almost never the rest of the year.

Me, nope.

Bought my wife one years ago for “Special Occasions” because she tried it on as a joke in a store and it did something to me! She never wore it outside the house, if you know what I mean.

Yeah, here in Houston, you’ll only see an occasional cowboy hat. That is, until the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and then they are EVERYWHERE!!! My band was asked to play one of the private venues for committee members at NRG - hats abound. But while I wore boots and a pearl snap western shirt - NO HAT.
